Duke Franz and the Royal House of Bavaria 2: 2022 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Sophie-Alexandra, Princess of Bavaria, attended the Open Day of House and Court Chapels yesterday, August 31, she has become Patron of this year:

Luitpold, Prince of Bavaria, attended a memorial ceremony for the 180th birthday of King Ludwig II on August 25:

Ludwig II was born on August 25, 1845. In honor of the king's 180th birthday, a solemn memorial ceremony was held on August 25, 2025, in Prien am Chiemsee, with a direct view of the Royal Palace of Herrenchiemsee – which Ludwig II had built during his lifetime.

Accompanied by flag-bearing delegations, traditional costumes, brass bands, and gun salutes, numerous representatives from society and politics commemorated the king. Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, representing the House of Wittelsbach, was present and delivered the keynote speech for the event.

It is precisely in Prien, with a direct view of Herreninsel (Herreninsel), that the life and work of King Ludwig II are once again made visible. Since July, Herrenchiemsee Palace – along with Neuschwanstein Castle, Linderhof Palace, and the Royal Palace on Schachen – has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thus clearly underscoring the cultural and historical significance of these buildings for Bavaria and far beyond.

A wonderful new photo of little Rupprecht, who turned 1 on August 6!

The family participated in the traditional „Lion March in 24 hours“ from Kaltenberg Castle to Hohenschwangau Castle today, September 6:

Has Franz ever spoken about why he and Thomas have never married? Same sex marriage has been legal in Germany for several years now. It’s certainly not mandatory, but they’ve been together for so long that it would make sense if they did finally marry.

:previous:I don't recall that he has ever spoken about marriage.

Ludwig, Prince of Bavaria, attended the reopening of Villa Ludwigshöhe in Edenkoben:

Franz, Duke of Bavaria, Thomas Greinwald and Manuel, Prince of Bavaria, attended the reopening of the restored synagogue on the Reichenbachstrasse in Munich:

And interesting cooperation Sophie-Alexandra, Princess of Bavaria, Prince Ludwig, Prince of Bavaria and Elizabeth, Duchess of Bavaria were involved in!

Today is International Day of the Girl Child: This day not only celebrates girls, their abilities, and their potential, but also highlights the inequality and injustice girls experience around the world and what can be done to improve this.
For example, girls still suffer massively from child marriage: the film "Nawi" addresses this important topic.

Last month, Princess Sophie of Bavaria was in New York City at the United Nations General Assembly to host the screening of "Nawi," a film about a 13-year-old Kenyan girl forced into child marriage.

While Princess Sophie helped organize the event, the film is the result of an initiative by her husband, Prince Ludwig, and the NGO Learning Lions @learning_lions. The panel discussion included Princess Mabel of the Netherlands (@mabel.vanoranje), who was particularly moved by the film, the Children's Investment Fund (@ciffchild), the WHO, the Canadian government, and screenwriter Micah Cherotich, who traveled from Kenya especially for the occasion.

Duchess Elizabeth of Bavaria also attended the event, as she was one of the first supporters to help finance and produce the film.

Franz, Duke of Bavaria with partner Thomas Greinwald and Max, Duke of Bavaria attended the reopening of the renovated Karolinen Church in Großkarolinenfeld:

Is this the first time Thomas Greinwald has officially accompanied Duke Franz to an official House event? (The House of Bavaria's post says "H.R.H. Duke Franz of Bavaria, who attended as representative of the House of Bavaria and as patron, has supported the project for many years together with regional bishop Susanne Breit-Keßler. He was accompanied by his brother, H.R.H. Duke Max in Bavaria and Thomas Greinwald.")

It's not the first time they officially attend an event together, you can find a number of previous events on the previous pages of this thread. And it's also not the first time Thomas Greinwald's attendance at an event has been mentioned on the House's social media accounts. Hope that's what you've meant.

Yes, it is, thank you. :flowers:

Do you recall what was the first time Thomas Greinwald's attendance with Duke Franz at an event was announced by the House of Bavaria?

I'm glad I was able to answer your question :flowers: the follow-up question though is to difficult to answer, at least for me and my short-term memory ;)

I very well remember when Duke Franz introduced his longtime partner Thomas Greinwald but couldn' remember the exact date.
There were several articles published at that time. This one is from April 2023 which must have been the date. He made it public at the representation of his memoirs in Munich.
An excerpt from the "Standard" article:

"Franz of Bavaria: A nobleman who came out late in life
Most people knew it, but now the man who would be King of Bavaria if the monarchy were still in place has introduced his partner—at the age of 89, after an eventful life.

After 43 years, Franz of Bavaria introduced his partner: Thomas Greinwald.

The audience was extremely interested. Franz von Bayern, head of the House of Wittelsbach, received repeated applause at Munich University this week.

However, most of the applause was not for the memoirs that the 89-year-old presented there, but for the moment when the duke invited lawyer Thomas Greinwald onto the stage.

Most people knew who he was. And yet it was a first. After 43 years, Franz von Bayern publicly presented Greinwald as his partner for the first time".

I think one if not the first public Event they attended together was the Wedding of Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia

Thank you, everyone. No doubt their first public events together were significant as well, though I still wonder whether those appearances were "official" on behalf of the Bavaria family.
