We attended the Gold cup yesterday afternoon. This was the Meeting that was previously know as 'The Hennessy' after its previous sponsor, the drinks company ['Hennessy Brandy'] Its current sponsor is Coral, a betting company. If I could help with some information, the meeting is still referred to by many people as 'The Hennessy'. It forms part of the 'strong part' of the 'National Hunt' [Jumping] season, which runs through to the 'Whitbread' meeting [now known by its present sponsors, a bookmaker [gambling] firm at Sandown Park racecourse. Sophie presented the Gold Cup trophy.

Andrew LLoyd Webber and nis wife, both noted owner' were also there, apparently with Sophie and Edward from my personal observations!

Although it was essentially a 'fun' engagement, to me it underlines that Sophie works hard, as a look at her recent calendar of engagements will show.

Absolutely Sophie works hard. As does Edward. That’s why the current targeting of them by the Times , Norman Baker & the loathsome Graham Smith is, IMHO so unfair.

And if people have no idea what Edward and Sophie do, that is a reflection on the British media not Edward and Sophie.

I’ve often wondered if they would get better press attention doing more joint engagements ~ I understand they can cover more territory by splitting engagements, but it seems their events often go unnoticed.
