I think these photos reflect well, what I believe to be, the Duchess’ ‘down to earth’ and sunny nature. Whilst she is by no means a rebel royal, she has gradually shaped her own approach to the role showing an unstuffy and thoughtful persona at official engagements. She has been a steady pair of hands throughout the various crises in the family, which I imagine the King values highly.

As Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Corps of Army Music the Duchess of Edinburgh visited the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst today, January 23.


In the evening she attended the Royal Corps of Army Music dinner at Gibraltar Barracks in Camberley.

Her birthday pics are very nice but I wish there had been at least one formal portrait in orders and tiara. If we are going to have a royal family then I feel there should be a formal element included on such occasions.

The Duchess of Edinburgh's programme today, February 5, started with a visit to Maiti Nepal, a rehabilitation and orphanage home for HIV-affected and trafficked women and children, in Kathmandu, a meeting with Nepali women's rights activists at Dwarika's Hotel and a visit to the maternity wing of Bhaktapur Hospital, in Dudhpati, Bhaktapur:

Today, February 12, the Duke of Edinburgh visited Chipping Norton Theatre, The Branch and met groups of Oxfordshire organizations focused on climate, renewable energy & environmental issues in Enstone:



 
They go every year around this time as part of a large group of friends if I recall.
