The statement states that Aga Khan passed away in Lisbon and also says that the announcement of his designated successor will be made soon.
It also does not say where he will be buried, whether it will be in Lisbon, Portugal or in another country.

His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, 1936-2025
Lisbon, Portugal, 4 February 2025 - His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away peacefully in Lisbon on 4 February 2025, aged 88, surrounded by his family.

The announcement of his designated successor will follow.

May he rest in peace.

His successor will be his elder son Rahim, I suppose.

Is he still married to the US model or has he remarried another woman?

He is much older than his Father to be Aga Khan. So no Begum for the moment ?

The funeral of Prince Aga Khan IV will be held next Saturday, February 8, in Lisbon. The following day, February 9, the body will be transported to the family mausoleum in Aswan, Egypt, where his predecessor, Aga Khan III, is buried, according to the Portuguese press.

I hadn´t realised he lived in Lisbon.

He often was a guest at royal gatherings. I wonder if a few of them will attend the service in two days.

Apparently, he spent the last years of his life in Lisbon, where he bought a palace.
The President of the Portuguese Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be present at the funeral, and other heads of state are also expected to attend.

He came to an agreement with the Portuguese government and moved the foundation headquarters to Lisbon, reopening an ancient palace as said HQ in 2008, he lived in another palace in the beautiful Lapa neighborhood.

The new Aga Khan and his heir Irfan have arrived

Livestream of the funeral

What a heartbreaking funeral, everyone is crying, Rahim makes an effort to control himself, but Zarah, Amyn and Aly Muhammad are about to faint!

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, has declared a Day of National Mourning in Pakistan on Saturday, the 8th of February, 2025, on the occasion of the funeral of His Highness.

The National Flag shall fly at half-mast throughout the country on the 8th of February, 2025.

When I saw his Coffin living the Church , I said to myself , He was a great Aga Khan IV succeeding his grandfather. But was the rich Khan family happy ? So many divorces , and expensive ones.
Ii did not see his son , I supposed he lived with his other the former Begum Inaara.

All his children are there and they couldn't stop crying, they obviously loved their father and are a united family.

A poignant moment was when the coffin was to be taken outside, Zarah and Hussain held hands for a moment as if to give each other strength. It was very moving.

Rahim is also a very caring father, he adores his two little boys, and is always paying attention to them.

This is such a beautiful photo
I also saw him kiss Sinan's forehead, worry not

Here's a photo of the Duke of Bragança

I haven't seen any pictures of Princess Yasmin. Did she not attend?

Regarding Yasmin there are only two options, either she was the lady sat behind Zarah, or she simply didn't attend.

Daughter of Rita Hayworth?

She is the half-sister of the late Aga Khan, correct?
The German Begum has made good life of marrying rich men, first the Prince of Leiningen, then Aga Khan, a whole different league. Now she is with Wolfgang Porsche of the car dynasty, who left his wife for her a couple of years ago.

Why Aga Khan Princes keep marrying Westerner women?

If they had been marrying the women born and raised in MUSLIM religion and culture, maybe then their marriages would have proven successful?

Princess Salimah Aga Khan, the first wife, did not attend the funeral, or did I miss her?

Perhaps if the men of the family weren't well known womanizers, the marriages would have been successful.
Fortunately the women who've married into this family have shown a bit of self-respect by walking out.

No she did not, neither the mother of the new Aga Khan's children.
I guess Inaara (Gabriele) was there to show support to her son, the youngest child of the late Aga Khan IV.

So, this is interesting, a new mausoleum will be built for Karim.

AFAIK, every great world religion - including Islam - considers adultery a sin.

That certainly hasn't stopped them!

Stunning images from the arrival in Aswan for the Aga Khan IV's burial

Very moving to see the Aga Khan V and his brother Hussain helping their uncle on their way up to the family mausoleum. It has to be devastating for him to bid farewell to his brother, a constant in his life for the past 87 years... :(

The first picture we saw of Aga Khan V was not a nice one; I saw pictures of the Funerals. He is such a loving Father and will be the right successor..

May he rest in peace, one hopes this year brings better tidings for the family
