There was a very touching moment between Margareta and Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna. HIH kissed her and then wiped away the tears from Margareta’s eyes and squeezed her hand. It was so moving and brought a tear to the eye. They must be very fond of each other.

Yes, the Romanian word "nepot" translates into English as either "grandson" or "nephew."

It is like "nipote" in Italian, isn't it ? I believe it comes from Latin "nepos".

Spot on Irish royalist. We don’t normally get meandering TV camera shots of foreign royals on the BBC or otherwise. Here on the fringes of a state event of an Eastern Orthodox service it is all very up front with footage of the customary funeral farewells of chief mourners literally cheek to cheek with posters here quoting lip read speech from HM Queen Anne Marie. Very human and emotional sight to see regardless of station and state. Bless+++

Romania paid an official homage to the King and nobody was speaking about a former Monarch but about HM the King.
The people reacted in an amazing way showing their respect and their love for the Sovereign.
Now it's up to the King's Family to show unity and to continue the projects of the King.

The 'Kings Family' is the Royal Family of Romania. No other title is appropriate, even when given by someone who doesn't respect or acknowledge regal authority in giving out new titles. I suppose if the King isn't allowed to create titles, such as 'Custodian of the Crown', we, as private citizens, shouldn't either, right?
Since when do you support the Royal Family and their effort 'to continue the projects of the King'? It has been clear from years of posts that this is something you don't support.

A very emotional day has come to a close, and it's been heartwarming to see how the Custodian has been taken well care of by large numbers of royalty from across Europe, making it clear she is not alone in the task that does indeed lie ahead. All actual well-wishers and supporters of the Royal Family and the cause of monarchy will have seen these events with positive eyes, and with the affection and appreciation they deserve.

Remember the funerals of Empress Zita, Archuchess Regina and Archduke Otto in Austria, the various reburials of members of the tsarist family in Russia, or funerals in former German principalities where almost always the "successor" to these principalities (the Bundesländer) are officially represented, etc.

You have missed the ceremonies for Archduke Otto in various countries of the once immense empire, culminating in a gigantic funeral in Vienna, including attendance of the who-is-who in Austria, where the Kaiserhymne was sung and where several military detachements escorted the coffin to the Kapuzinergruft?

That funeral was broadcast live on Austrian and foreign TV.

Another example is the re-burial of Empress Maria Feodorovna where the Danish Crown Prince escorted a Danish frigate to Saint-Petersburg and that ship was met with impressive ceremonial from the Russian Navy and then the proceedings with hours and hours of great splendour, military display and a grand, elaborate ceremonial. In Putin's Russia.

In 1977, when Louis-Ferdinand Prinz von Preussen (the father of Georg Friedrich) died, there was also a grand military ceremonial and to see the videos on You Tube, it was broadcast as well.

No representation though from the Danish, Dutch and Norwegian courts. I wonder why. Maybe they were worried about antagonizing the Romanian government, but since it was a semi-state funeral anyway, that concern wouldn't make sense, would it ?

I have seen that the prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and prince Leka of Albania have attended the funeral. Also the princess of Liechteinstein, magrave of Baden, prince Alexander of Serbia and duke of Braganca if I'm not wrong.

No idea, to my best knowledge the Royal Houses of Norway, of Denmark, of the Netherlands as well the Princely House of Monaco have friendly relationships with the former royal family of Romania.

The missing royals all were with Michael on this picture.

The late King's mother-in-law was Princess Margrethe of Denmark, related to the Danish and Norwegian royal families. The Queen of the Netherlands officially received former King Michael and Queen Anne in audience when they were visiting The Hague (under the Dutch presidency of the EU) to make a plea for Romania's entry into the EU and the NATO (picture).

Do we know if queen Anne-Marie represented the greek or danish courts? Perhaps both, since she was born a danish princess.
