Press release from the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland
King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark will pay a state visit to Finland on 4–5 March 2025 at the invitation of President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.
The visit, hosted by President Stubb and his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb, will focus on bilateral relations between Finland and Denmark, defence and security of supply, and the green transition.
The state visit will take place in Helsinki and the surrounding Uusimaa region. The programme of the visit will be announced later.

Press release of the program of the visit at the website of the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland:

The situation of the world is very serious and defence is an important part of the visit: on the first day the King and Queen and the Presidential couple visit the Merihaka civil defence shelter and on the second day they visit the main base of the Coastal Brigade in Upinniemi and get a presentation of maritime surveillance, diver training and armoured personnel carriers.

The programme shared by the Palace today:

I notice that King Frederik again is visiting foreign special forces. Some of which he may actually have trained with back when he was a Frogman himself.
Finland has a for many no doubt surprising advanced ship building industry. They'll be busy in the coming years!
Marshall Mannerheim is a national hero. He led the Finnish defense during the Winter War in 1939-40 and it was thanks to his leadership that Finland was not overrun by the Soviet Union. Even though the Soviet Union only wanted a few provinces (for reasons of vital national security interests...) it's IMO questionable if they would have left again, had the Soviets managed to overrun Finland.

Frederik and Mary are already in Finland with the Presidential couple

"Their Majesties King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark, together with President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb accompanied by his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb, visited today Saariselkä in Inari, in Finnish Lapland."

Hmm, seems like they are getting to know each other before the show starts. Not a bad idea, should make things less tense and reduce nervousness.
I agree. Great idea. Lovely photo of the two couples. Now it makes sense that Christian is regent starting today. Looking forward to this State Visit - by the looks of the schedule it is a jampacked 2 days

They have already met last year at the Olympic Games in Paris (President Stubb has told about that) and at the 25th anniversary of the Nordic Embassy complex in Berlin.

And laid the basis for a discrete friendship perhaps? That's good to hear. Makes everything much more relaxed and friendly and that always shines trough. So all of us should be able to sit back and just enjoy this visit.
Still a very good idea to meet informally first before the show.

More:
lovely photos and videos (taken by the Queen). It seems like they've had a lovely day with the Presidential couple prior to the start of the official program. Also, nice that the official DRF social media and the DK in Finland Instagram acct has shared photos/videos

Lapland, the home of the Sami people, who lived all over the northern half of Scandinavia before being pushed further north in medieval times.
A magical country with snow, deep dense forests and auroras. I should like to visit. There is only a slight issue though: Should I visit in the summer end end up eaten alive by mosquitos? Or visit in the winter and be turned into a block of ice within five nanoseconds?
They have some interesting winter-hotels in the shape of glass-igloos, with a clear view from your bed up to the very clear and as such very starry sky! It's the place for romance.
Alas, my wife and I have reached the age where romance equals back-ache - afterwards...

Like Queen Mary, Suzanne Innes-Stubb also has Scottish roots through her father. The Innes are a Scottish clan whose history stretches back to the 12th century. Suzanne Innes-Stubb's father has not lived in Scotland, but she has told that her childhood family went on annual holidays to visit her grandparents in Scotland.

That was my thought too. Very elegant Lady
Mr and Mrs Stubb makes me want a republic, what an incredible elegant, educated, smart, multilingual and sporty couple. The president is also one of the absolutly best speakers amongst the heads of state in Europe (which is not really often attributed to finnish presidents that often struggle with both swedish and english). The president at the arrival ceremony looks incredible sharp compared to Frederik who has some sort of sweater? under his coat that make him look rather sloppy in comparrison.

Both couples look wonderful. Lovely photos so far. Too bad about the rain earlier.

Queen Mary looks great in her dark coat. Mrs. Stubb as well looks lovely. Both gentleman as well.

Looking forward to the state banquet.

As a Finn I'm very proud of our President and First Lady. I also like how the President updates sometimes also photos and videos from their personal life to his social media, then it's mostly sports. He sometimes also shares tips for good books.

The President welcomed the King and Queen to the state visit:
""It has been a pleasure to have you as guests on my first incoming state visit as president. Finland and Denmark are members of the Nordic family. We share a common history and the same values".

The Office of the President updates photos of the visit to its Flickr account:

The King and Queen and the Presidential couple visited Merihaka civil defence shelter, which is a part of Finland’s civil defence and serves as protection for the residents of Helsinki during crises but is also used in peacetime for recreational purposes such as sports activities. The King and started a floorball match between school children from the two cities Turku and Kuopio in the context of the Cities for Better Health network.

The King and Queen arrived to Hietaniemi Cemetery. At the Square of Heroes, They first lay a wreath at the Hero’s Cross, after that a wreath at Marshal Mannerheim’s grave and, finally, a wreath at the monument honouring Danish volunteers who fell during the Winter War in 1939-1940.

Now the broadcast inside the Presidential Palace, soon we will see the Presidential couple and the King and Queen welcome the guests. President Stubb is an early riser, around 5.00 in the morning and he doesn't want to stay up late.

Suzanne Innes-Stubb is wearing a green evening gown by Anne-Mari Pahkala. The gown was sewn by Ulla Vainikka. She is also wearing a silver handbag from Robes Rental and a necklace and earrings from Tillander's Royal Garden collection.

President Stubb discussed today on the phone with the President of Ukraine:

President Stubb's speech, some parts of it:
"It is a great honour for me and Suzanne to welcome Your Majesties to Finland. If we seem a bit nervous, it is because this is the first time we are hosting an official state visit.
We were, of course, delighted to learn that it was you that we would be welcoming on our first incoming state visit. We have had the pleasure of meeting You before, at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, and in October, when we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Nordic Embassies in Berlin.
At the Olympic Games, we discovered that we are probably the first king and president to have ever done an Ironman. Of course, we were both a bit disappointed that we failed to make the Danish or Finnish triathlon team, but it may have had something to do with our age.
We are, after all, of the same generation, even when it comes to music. I’ve been listening to the King’s playlist of 160 songs. It contains some great classics that describe the world we live in right now quite well: Riders on the Storm, Beds are Burning and Welcome to the Jungle. But when I think of President Zelenskyy, I like to listen to songs like I believe, Heroes and Under Pressure."

The first lady of Finland is so elegant in that outfit!

Is that a new tiara the Queen is wearing? Looks like something golden but quiet small

Gala!

Is that a new tiara the Queen is wearing? Looks like something golden but quiet small

from the DRF
"During the state visit to Finland, Her Majesty the Queen has chosen to wear two special historical pieces of jewellery. At the gala dinner in Helsinki, the Queen will wear Queen Caroline Amalie's gold tiara with antique gems and Princess Vilhelmine Marie's bracelet with Vesuvius stone. These pieces of jewelry have not been worn for over 140 years."

More info on the jewels

The exchange of orders tonight
"HM The King has today been awarded the Chain of the Order of the White Rose of Finland in connection with his state visit to Finland. The King was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the White Rose of Finland in 1994, while HM The Queen received the same order during the Finnish state visit in 2013. The Grand Cross with Chain constitutes the highest degree of the order.
The King has also appointed HE the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, as a Knight of the Order of the Elephant, while the President's spouse, Mrs. Suzanne Innes-Stubb, has received the Grand Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog."

About the press conference Frederik and Mary gave

""It's rare that we've seen the royal couple come forward and answer so many questions and answer so comprehensively. It really says something about the seriousness of the situation," she says.
During the press conference, the King said, among other things:
"It's a changed reality we live in. It's changing daily these days, and we're watching it and following it like everyone else in the Western world. We think it's great to be with a Nordic brother in Finland, a country that has had reality close to it for many years, and we're here to strengthen those ties and that cooperation."
...
"I think we see a royal couple coming into character, and it is precisely in crises and violent situations, like the one we are in now, that a royal house can be a rallying point," she says.
When the royal couple were asked how they see their role as heads of state in an uncertain time, Queen Mary replied:
"Today's visit is a really good example of us being here to mark the close ties between our two countries historically, politically and the common future we have. And to strengthen the existing cooperation between our countries in three important areas, such as emergency preparedness, defense and the green transition and health. It is important that we show our unity in these times.""

More on Frederik speech. Certainly cannot ignore the elephant in the room

Darrrn, the Brits could learn from Mary. What a wonderful job she's doing unearthing these beautiful pieces, it looks great with her hair colour.

Kippis, indeed, a great speech again, except for the "beeing nervous" which was rather selfmodesty. Har Mrs Stubb worn the aquamarine set that was made for the President/first lady and which the former first lady had worn a couple of times, a very beautiful set that would have gone well with the green dress. Both she and the former first ladies were very good at showcasing finnish designers, for all important events.

No, mrs Innes-Stubb hasn't worn the set made for the President/First Lady yet.
Info about her jewellery this evening:
The elegant earrings and necklace in the same series have an elegant, pinkish floral pattern.
Annette Tillander's marketing and communications person Oona Ahmas tells that the necklace was designed and handcrafted by Annette Tillander Oy's master goldsmith Petteri Eskola as part of his master goldsmith degree.
The jewelry is made of 18-carat yellow gold and 14-carat white gold. The jewelry is set with 1.24 carats of green tourmaline, a total of 4.20 carats of pink teardrop-cut tourmalines and 157 brilliant-cut diamonds.
The matching earrings for the necklace were made in autumn 2024.
