Yes their relationship was serious but Maria was never asceped by Queen Margrethe,Queen Ingrid and the court and Frederik had to go to Paris to work at the Danish embassy wher he met Bettina Ødum and his reoationship with Maria finaliy ende.

After their break up Maria tolde the press that she had to go to a therapist because the court and the 2 queens never asceped her.

I have gone thru all the pictures of CP Frederick's ex girlfriends, Mary is the most beautiful and not only that she is intellingent (university graduate) and has got a professional career which is widely respected throughout the world.

Some are beautiful, some are pretty, and others are quite unattractive. He was lucky to find Mary, imo. Even though Mary did not look her best back then, he still saw something special and what was to come.

I agree! Not all men can recognize a diamond in the rough (not that Mary was ugly or anything), but it takes a special man to go beyond the typical bleach blond and see someone's character. Mary was obviously someone special.

I do remember reading, if my memory serves me correctly, that Frederik broke up Bettina sometime in late 2000 early 2001, but unfortunately I do not have the original source either.
