So, a quiet day down here at the bottom of New Zealand, and I decided to amuse myself by doing a list of all the tiaras that I’ve seen members, and extended members, of the British Royal Family, wear. I’ve mainly started with Queen Victoria although I have included her mother and one of her aunts as the tiaras they wore are still worn by family members today. Going back further than that is tricky as pictures show many ladies with hair ornaments rather than what we would recognise as tiaras today which only really started kicking in the the 1800s or so. I have also not included any I wasn’t really too sure about, e.g. the one worn by Sophie, Lady Frederick Windsor, on her wedding day. Also, I haven’t differentiated in the tiaras being worn that are the lady’s own, or borrowed, just the amount of tiaras they’ve been photographed wearing.

And just out of interest, my favourites are the Gloucester Diamond Laurel Bandeau (only ever seen on Princess Alice, what a shame); the Fife Tiara; Princess Eugenie's wedding tiara; Duchess Sophie's aquamarine; and the Girls of Great Britain.

I can’t guarantee this list is totally accurate or complete, just accurate to my own personal knowledge. I also know the titles of the ladies aren’t always correct – yes, I know it’s not ‘Catherine, Princess of Wales’, it’s ‘HRH The Princess of Wales’, however I just put the names down as the easiest to recognise.

I’m sure it will come as no surprise that Queen Mary topped the list! I’m 100% sure Queen Camilla will start inching up, and probably hopefully the Princess of Wales, but this is how I see it as at January 2025.

Impressive work! (y)
Isn't the Gloucester Diamond Laurel bandeau the one that can change the premiere stones to emeralds? I think the current DoGlo wore it not so long ago.

Isn't this the tiara Princess Beatrice wore at her wedding?
Princess Beatrice wore the Queen Mary fringe tiara. Also worn by the late Queen at her wedding.
The Queen Adelaide diamond festoon tiara or Hanoverian tiara has been worn by the late Queen and the Queen Mother as a necklace.

I've always liked the Hanoverian Fringe Tiara and its rich history!

The late Queen has never worn the hannoverian/adelaide fringe necklace/tiara. Only her own fringe necklace which was a Wedding gift by the City of London and Queen Mary's fringe tiara. The hannoverian/adeliade fringe was last seen worn as necklace by the Queen Mother in the 1950's

That's strange. Why was it never used again?

The Queen Mother had many pieces which fell out of favour, and QEII had already her own fringe necklace which she probably preferred

Sorry, my mistake. I thought QEII had worn it as a necklace. So many fringe tiaras lying dormant in the vaults.

Actually a fringe tiara (Queen Mary's), a fringe necklace (QEII's wedding gift) and one who is convertible (adelaide) from which we know of.

Several tiaras and other antique jewelry are in the Jewellery Gallery at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Add in the Queen Alexandra Kokoshnik, which I think is the mother of all Fringe's!
