likely the tiaras themselves could be the 'payment' to the gov for the tax and thereby become property of the gov and can be displayed as they are currently at KP
I think noble families do this with paintings and jewels instead of selling them off or land off they can use these items as payment
Indeed, that was the bargain with the Fife. It was bequeathed (how the heck do you spell that?) to the State instead of death duty, but with the condition that the emerald and fringe tiaras were to be exhibited as well. So I guess with the next generation, the State will get its claws on the others as well.
 
:previous: The article mentioned Lady May Abel Smith wore the Pearl and Diamond Corsage Brooch only once. What year was this? What event was this?
 
Lady May Abel Smith died over 30 years ago but there is no mention of the event or date it was last worn ,I would assume if was after the death of her mother.
