Why have the reduced the royals attending this so much? I think it used to be more. And if there are over 1000 diplomats etc. attending one would think it would really be helpful to have more Royals attending.
The late Queen started the cut-back years ago and Charles has simply continued it as part of his 'smaller royal family' idea. His long-term intention is to limit the working royals a lot more than even those he has now - as the older ones retired they aren't going to be replaced until George is old enough, and assuming they give him the same time they gave William that is a quarter of a century away.
I did a quick check in the CC and usually there were four or six only since 1997 (of course there may have been a year or two with more that I didn't check but the 10 years I did randomly check saw The Queen, Philip and either two or four others.)
The loop of cloth around the knee is the Garter and the old Knee Breeches work better with it but it would be nice to see a modern spin. Though if it was your man dressed like that, I think it would look really handsome even in his 70s or 80s.
The Buckingham Palace reception was held by King Charles and Queen Camilla to welcome new Members of Parliament and Members of the House of Lords on January 29.
Today, February 20, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a "reception celebrating exceptional individuals and organisations contributing towards humanitarian efforts across the globe". Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended as well.
LOL one might think the Royal Family is doing some subtle trolling. Yesterday the King visits a charity helping (among others) injured Ukraine Soldiers. Today the Ukraine ambassador is received. It looks as if the Queen is wearing maple leaf broaches at today's reception to which the Danish born Duchess of Gloucester was invited.
Now if a delegation of Greenlanders turns up at a reception next week, I will know something is going on. LOL.
On February 27, the Duke of Kent as former President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission attended a Luncheon at the Army and Navy Club in London to commemorate his Presidency of the Commission. Sir Tim Laurence as Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission attended as well.
