I hope the admins don't mind it I start a new threat for the new year. Given how bad last year was I would like to move on and thus start from scratch for 2025.

As for the current engagements:

There have been no official engagements in the first 5 days of 2025.

As often is the case there is an entry saying 'Divine Service' was held at Sandringham but no list of who attended. With no formal list identified I don't count such an entry as an official engagement.

As for the future - Both The Duke of Edinburgh and The Princess Royal will be undertaking official duties on the 9th January. For The Princess Royal this will be her usual first engagement - The Oxford Farming Conference, which is also usually held on the 5th January but as the 5th is a Sunday it has been moved back. The Duke of Edinburgh it going to President Carter's funeral on the 9th.

I have seen, elsewhere, criticism that The Prince of Wales isn't attending the funeral, especially as his father as Prince of Wales attended the last two former President't funerals but the 9th is also The Princess of Wales' birthday so I will give him a pass.

I’m not sure whether William would be the most appropriate person to attend the funeral of President Carter given the President’s term of office began and ended before William was even born.

I don’t know whether Prince Charles attended the funeral of President Ford. I know he did those of Presidents Reagan and Bush Sr. But Prince Charles had met and knew Presidents Reagan and Bush.

I hope Edward was asked to attend because the King thought he was the most appropriate person, regardless of position in the Order of Succession. The wedding of Charles and Camilla was pushed back because the Prince of Wales attended the funeral of Pope John Paul II. Harry missed the birthday of his son to attend the coronation of his father. Sometimes duty requires sacrifices to be made (I never thought I would put Harry and duty in the same paragraph).

I don’t know whether Prince William has met President Carter in his admirable post presidential period. Regardless of Catherine’s birthday I would expect him to attend the funerals of Presidents Obama, Trump and Biden (and probably Clinton and Bush Jr) and would be disappointed in him if he did not. I confess I have my doubts over his and Catherine’s work ethic and willingness to to put duty before self. This may be a reflection of these doubts.

Harry was able to do both the coronation and see Archie on his birthday as he left the UK asap after his father's coronation (didn't return to the palace but went straight to the airport) and was able to get back to California before the end of Archie's birthday. He didn't miss his son's birthday or his father's coronation (but I would have preferred him to have taken Archie to the UK - what a special day that would have been for Archie - to have a photo taken, even if never released to the public, of him on his birthday with his grandfather in all his finery as a crowned King.)

On the official website of the British Royal House, there are no official events scheduled for the King, Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales for this month of January!

I'm sure Iluvbertie will know better but I think the engagements for Charles, Camilla and William and Catherine are rarely listed far in advance for security and practical reasons. Plus January is a quieter time, I think Charles and Camilla headed to Birkhall yesterday as one of the RAF jets did a RAF Marham (closest airport to Sandringham) to Aberdeen airport run so I suspect they'll be doing more from home than out and about in the next few weeks.

IluvBertie-Have you noticed any changes in how the Court Circular is being presented/run since the passing of the late QEII?

I’ve been saying this for some time and whole heartedly agree with you.

They’ve always held back on engagements, childcare, health worries, the rest of the population don’t get these luxuries. My partners I’ll , I need a wage otherwise I’m on the street. The media can only be bought for so long.

IluvBertie-Have you noticed any changes in how the Court Circular is being presented/run since the passing of the late QEII?
No - it is the same as it has been since its inception in the 1700s in many ways although some of the former items no longer appear e.g. they have split 'births, deaths and marriages' from the CC (was there early in the Queen's reign but isn't now along with the comings and goings of members of the upper classes e.g. xxxx will be travelling for the next six months, or High Commissioners and Ambassadors).

The one thing I have noticed is events that the late Queen had as private e.g. Braemar Games Charles has as official and he also does a lot more in August and September than she did, as well as in January. The late Queen would often go for the summer months and from mid-December until early February with nothing at all while Charles doesn't seem to take whole months off (of course the red boxes still followed her, and him, but she wouldn't do other things.

What is recorded has evolved since the 1780s but not much changed since 2022.

As Prince of Wales Charles had his own 'diary' page on his own website that might put up the odd engagement a week or two in advance. Sometimes his and Camilla's events as King and Queen are published but, unlike Edward, Anne, the Gloucesters and Kents, rarely more than two weeks in advance and often not even then.

William and Catherine have never put up upcoming events. Andrew was the same but now does nothing anyway.

Of course a lot of Charles' engagements don't go up as they are meetings, receiveds, audiences etc i.e. inside the palaces with no public and so no need to put them up anywhere. The FE is largely for outside the palaces engagements.
