A brother for : Carlos (4 March 2025).

Thank you in advance,

Thank you. But how could the couple have had two children born three months apart? Is there a mistake in the older child's year of birth, or was one of the children adopted or born through surrogacy?

They made a mistake, he was born in 2024.

A rather unusual name, nothing against unique names though. Apparently it’s a form of Frederick.
New one to me but two Dukes of Alba had it.

Teresa Urquijo y Moreno (b.1996) [elder of two children and only daughter of Beatriz Moreno y de Borbón (b.1967) {herself daughter of Princess Teresa of Bourbon (b.1937) & her husband Iñigo Moreno y de Arteaga, Marquess de Laserna (b.1934)} & her husband Lucas Urquijo y Fernández-Araoz (b.1962)] & her husband the Mayor of Madrid José Luis Martínez-Almeida Navasqüés (b. 17 April 1975) [the youngest of the six children of Rafael Martínez-Almeida y León y Castillo and Ángela Navasqüés Cobián] had their first child, Lucas, in Hospital Universitario Señora del Rosario in Madrid, on 4 July.

Does the Duke have siblings?
He has three sisters, but is the only son. His father was also an only son, and his grandfather was a younger son who inherited after the death of a childless older brother.

There are no other male line descendants of the 1st duke, so there is probably some pressure to produce a male heir.

Editing to add - if there is no son, the dukedom becomes extinct, but the marquessate of Westminster would still be extant, and by my figuring would pass to Francis Grosvenor, 8th Earl of Wilton, born 1934, who is the current Duke's fourth cousin, once removed.

The Duke and Duchess of Westminster's baby has arrived - a girl, Cosima Florence.
Congrats! Regardless of how likely it is to happen I hope the law changes so she can inherit her father’s dukedom.

This would be solved by just allowing women to inherit peerages :(

Second son for Prince Josef-Emanuel of Liechtenstein and wife Maria Claudia "Cloclo"

Baby's name is Nikolai.

I’m guessing he’s named after his grandfather, idk how well they know Count Nikolai of Monpezat but it would be cool if he were the godfather.

Looking through thepeerage.com it seems the Grosvenors are seriously lacking in male heirs. The most recent births seems to have been in 1968 and 1977.

The Grosvenor titles are definitely in serious danger of becoming extinct. Not just the dukedom, but also the marquessate, the earldom and the original baronetcy. There are some younger heirs at present, but as you point out, none of them have as yet produced a son.

Interestingly, the Grosvenor birth in 1977 is the art historian and TV presenter Bendor Grosvenor. If you haven't watched it already, I highly recommend his show 'Britain's Lost Masterpieces'.

I assume Charles will have to issue LP to let the peerage go to a daughter in absence of a son?
Why would he do that, rather than just let the titles die out? This isn't like the dukedom of Marlborough, where there's a national interest in keeping the peerage going.

It just sucks that the peerage will die out because the relatives available to inherit it are of the “wrong” gender.

This dukedom is no more important than any of the other peerages that have died out due to a lack of male heirs. Older peerages than Westminster died out during Queen Elizabeth's reign, for example, the dukedoms of Leeds, Portland (though the earldom continues) and Newcastle. Nothing was done to preserve them, even though there were daughters of recent dukes who otherwise could have inherited.

To be clear I don’t think it’s fair for it to happen to any peerage.

So far there is till the chance that the Duke and Duchess will get sons and hopefully more than one to make the succession more sure. But then both the present Duke and his father were the only boys among a few sisters.

Duchess Amelie of württemberg and husband to Baron Franz Ferdinand von Feilitzsch had their first child.
She was visibly pregnant at the Wedding of her cousin Countess Hélène of Waldburg-Zeil last year.

How interesting! I've never heard of this new Italian branch of the Croys before.
