Anne, Princess Royal Jewellery

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
That's why I stated "sorted out / figured out", the "figured out" part meaning figured out by royal watchers based on our observations, sorry I was unclear.

ETA:
What is the basis that the Queen has run of the lot? It is not unreasonable, but I just want to know the basis.
My assumption is that as the King does not personally wear much jewellery, he is content for his wife to wear what she so chooses from the royal vault. In her role as the Queen, she will obviously make suitable provisions to ensure that the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Edinburgh are suitably bejewelled in their royal roles.

:previous: Makes sense but Charles seems like one of those people who would take an interest in jewelry. I doubt if it is either just Charles or just Camilla, it could be something they do together, or Charles provides the vision and Camilla executes.

Who'da thunk back when Camilla was a horsey hausfrau from Wiltshire that she would be a key player in regards to the BRF vast jewelry collection.

Extend that thought. Who would have thought that somebody once so reviled in the media would now be the Queen. But that is what c.20 years of public service and not putting a foot wrong in their public duty does. So all in all, well done to Queen Camilla.

I don’t recall seeing these jewels before either worn by the Princess Royal or any other royal. Perhaps she has been invited by her sister in law to dip into the vaults. Most likely they look to be from a Middle Eastern origin - perhaps a gift?

I'm thinking they're actually hers. I don't know of course, but that's my guess. And yes, I also think they look like they could be from a Middle Eastern potentate. I just went through this entire thread and an unknown ruby necklace was worn by her back in 2010. But the link to the photo doesn't work anymore, so I'm not sure if it's the same one.

I think I have seen Anne use this demi-parure before, though it was some time back.

Nor do I and I think you could be spot on regarding its origins.

The Princess Royal has worn the ruby and sapphire demi-parure before. I first spotted it at an event in 2012, although she may have worn in at other occasions prior to then. HRH has also worn the brooch at Ascot.
I seem to remember the earrings from a Garter ceremony too, but can't find the year...

The recent outing shows that she has had the earrings altered - the ruby drop used to hang from a sapphire stud and vice versa, while now the extra coloured gem has been removed.

Thank you for this.
In my (unsuccessful) quest to find any images of her wearing these individual pieces, I have been able to appreciate just what a lovely collection of jewels the Princess has amassed. Of course I shouldn’t be surprised as the she is the only daughter of the previous monarch. I think it’s a collection that doesn’t gain that much attention because over the years the media focus has been on the two Princess of Wales . For all her ‘no nonsense’ and, some might say, frugal approach to clothes, looking through photos of her from a young woman right through to the present day, she has never been loathe to wear some serious jewels and doesn’t repeat individual pieces ( other than string of pearls) that frequently. Some of you here will be already aware that she’s a ‘prolific’ jewellery wearer, but it’s been a nice discovery for me.

Sapphires, diamonds and pearls! I believe this is the Empress Feodorovna Sapphire brooch worn frequently by the previous Queen. The earrings I’m less certain about. Perhaps someone can help identify these beautiful droplets.
Its either the Empress Feodorovna Sapphire brooch used by QE2, or a copy /something similar. Anne also has brooches very similar to the Jardine Star and the Prince Albert sapphire brooches.

I’m pretty certain it’s not a copy as there’s several reports that she’s worn it previously., including on a visit in 2022 to Uganda.
It would also seem that the earrings are part of the same exquisite demi-parure which the Princess Royal has also worn before.

I remember reading somewhere that Queen Victoria had several copies made of the PA brooch for her daughters. It is believed that Anne now has one of them.

I am not quite sure I understand your point. I remember seeing pictures of Princess Anne wearing this brooch since before QE2 passed.

Whilst it is entirely possible that QE2 gave the brooch to Anne at some stage, the design of the brooch in itself is a classic and not unique. It is entirely possible that the brooch that Anne is wearing is not the one that QE2 used.

I've always thought that there's something off about the brooch. Not necessarily that it's a paste replica, but the overall (more oval) shape of the top part, the depth and cut of the blue stone and it's colour, as well as the shape and size of the pearl and diamond cap make me think it's a separate piece. How and when it entered the Princess Royal's collection remains a mystery.

Without any official comment regarding whether these pieces are indeed the jewels worn by QE2, none of us can be certain. I do agree it’s unlikely they are paste - if as I hadn’t heard of before, there were copies, I think they would still have been fashioned with precious stones . I think it’s also possible that the Princess Royal loaned the brooch and earrings from QE2, and that following the Queen’s passing, she has been permitted to wear them again.

Charles has always been an avid purchaser of beautiful jewelery often through auctions. A perfect example of this is the gorgeous pearls with pink topaz? clasp which Camilla has worn to majestic effect. The lot including the clasp was noted as being purchased as a brooch. The time lapse from purchase to the first time we saw Camilla wear it, was more than a year if not . more. But it would take quite so me time to acquire that amount of glorious matching pearls.

As to Anne back in horsey days? She had quite the collection of gorgeous jewels; pearls, diamonds, necklaces and tiaras even way back then. What's more, she wore them with her usual panache.

The topaz "brooch" was sold at auction in 2001, if I am not mistaken. It did not appear on Camilla till about 2005 or 2006, when she wore it at a reception at Windsor. At the time, it was attached as a clasp to a long three string pearl necklace. In its current form as a choker, the necklace did not make it debut till the 2008 wedding of Autumn & Peter Philips.

Aside from the D of E's tiara , the other RF Aquamarine tiaras are tragic , and should be completely remade or consigned to the deepest vaults possible . I say this a a lover of this stone . IMO only of course .

That tiara always looks somewhat lost or out of view in Anne's hairstyle .
It was a wedding gift from the late Queen Mother so its probably very sentimental to the Princess Royal.
