From The Times:

Princess Anne: Every day is a bonus after my accident
During a visit to South Africa, she said she cannot remember anything about a suspected horse incident which left her in hospital last year

She also sheds more light - or less light tbh - on her accident. She says she thinks she was going to visit her chickens which is part of her routine and that she had no reason to be going to see her horses.

It must be really weird not to remember and therefore not know what happened but landed you in hospital for almost a week. It sounds like she is lucky that she turned out ok after the incident. And I love her humor in the response to the question whether there are any lasting effects:

“Apparently not, at least I don’t think so. As far as I know nobody else thinks so — they haven’t been honest enough to tell me yet. So far so good. You are sharply reminded that every day is a bonus really.”

Her response about taking over from the Duke of Kent also shows a lot of appreciation for her mother's cousin and for royal work in general:

“I’m very lucky to take on from the Duke of Kent the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, but he’s been doing that for a very long time, he did it very well and has covered the globe in support of them.
“And I’m perfectly certain he was really reluctant to give that up, but in the end he felt physically that he couldn’t travel as much, and he couldn’t be as efficient in supporting — and I was lucky enough to be asked.
“On the one hand you go for as long as you can, but you have to accept there are some things you can’t do any more, and he did that, and I’m the beneficiary of that which has allowed me to take that on.”

This is a very revealing interview as to the potential seriousness of her accident last year. In typical Anne style, she speaks frankly without any histrionics.

Really odd, as someone must have found here and called medical care

Zara said in an interview for a tv programme for Anne's 70th that she remembers how Anne would nearly always come home from engagements and go off in her wellies (often still in a gown) to check on the chickens and collect eggs. I presume someone in the House - Tim or a member of staff would have got worried she had been gone for too long and gone looking for her maybe.

Princess Anne visited Southmead Hospital in Bristol today, February 6, "to thank the team of doctors, nurses and health professionals who treated her following her accident in June 2024":

She was incredibly lucky there !

I don’t want to think about the scenario of BRF loosing Anne already now… They need her work-capacity more than ever right now
The British RF are indeed rather lucky to have the Princess Royal and her firm commitment to duty.
