It's the twins Malthe and William who are patrolling Amalienborg square several times a week. They have done that for three years now, when they get off from kindergarten.
It all started with their grandmother taking them to see the changing of the guard and that fascinated the then toddlers and now they have come back regularly - to the delight of tourists, themselves and guardsmen.
I understand from another article that the uniforms have been sewn professionally for them.

One day an NCO noticed them and they were presented with genuine Rex-'er, that is the badge the soldiers wear on their shoulder-straps.

That is some major cuteness! Love that the Queen's guards accept the youngsters even getting them their own badges. Thank you Muhler for this uplifting post:flowers:

Thank you for sharing! The children are indeed very cute except when they start 'shooting' their toy guns; hopefully not inspired by the real thing! I am impressed by the father's efforts to bring them to the palace: clearly he also enjoys the spectacle!

Sunday evening two Swedish tourists were arrested at Amalienborg.
They had brought with the a drone which they launched in order to get some shots of Amalienborg from above.
Obviously they didn't try and hide what they were doing, because they were noticed and the police alerted.

The airspace around places like Amalienborg is strictly off limits.
The airspace in cities is subservient to strict regulations regarding drones. Mainly due to the strict laws of privacy in DK, but also in the case of a city like Copenhagen, because there is a busy airport right next to the city.
Even in rural areas a drone has to maintain a distance of several hundred meters from any home.
If you need to fly a drone within a restricted area, you need a permission and that typically given to people who have a professional purpose, like photographers and people who need to monitor or measure something.
Apart from that there are places where you need a seriously good reason to fly a drone, due to the risk of terror. Such a place is Amalienborg.

So the Swedes were arrested and their drone confiscated. The drone will not be returned. On top of that they can expect a fine.

- Their ignorance surprise me.
Surely Sweden has regulations as well. And I know you don't flash a camera near sensitive installations in Sweden!
 
What an enjoyable little video.
Focusing, unsurprisingly, at the representation mansion and it's furnishing an decor.

The last bit was a little greeting to all Danes in these times where we have to hang on a few more months: "May happiness and the blessing of God reside in all Danish homes. God save Denmark."

Wonder who came up with that one? Frederik? QMII? The PR office?
 
Love the video , and the fact that we can see their bedrooms! Very nice, Wonder how kitchen and bathrooms, are, I presume very outdated! I imagine M&F in their private quarters it is much more modern!!!

I don't recall having seen M&F's terrace before. Interesting tiles.
IIRC the door leads into their private kitchen, which in Danish is called a køkken-alrum. - Basically a kitchen, dining-room and lounge for the family combined.
The terrace is turned to the garden side of the mansion, with a good view over the harbor.
At the ground floor under the kitchen is the private entrance to the mansion, with stairs directly up to the private apartment.
The tower-like addition to the left is a square sitting room, with large windows in all four directions.
The open window to the upper right is M&F's bedroom.

- All this is based on my memory of the floor plan you can find somewhere in the residence threads.
 
Let's have a look at M&F's garden.
When their mansion at Amalienborg was renovated, their garden was renovated as well.
This illustration is from before Vincent and Josephine was born, so there have probably been some changes that are not publicly know.

20.000 crocus were planted in a pattern that resembles a horse. That is not evident on the illustration though.
Two cherry trees were planted. As well as three apple trees.

There were plans for a playhouse for the children, but instead a small basin for the children to wade in was made instead. - Somewhere in the garden, exact location unknown.

There are also benches made from granite in the garden.

The whole thing was created by garden architect Jacob Fisher.

BTW there is a sentry posted in their garden, at least during the dark hours.

No wonder they prefer to relocate to Fredensborg, Gråsten and Trend during the summer months.
Even though the large building to the rear is a part of the Amalienborg complex, there are many windows from the buildings in the background facing towards the garden.
 
The way the garden looks make me thing they do not enjoy that garden at all, it is like they are living in an apartment. May be it is the fact the windows of proximity buildings, overlooking the back yard ?But I am sure they could design something with trees that could some how protect them from the spy eyes! Ashamed to have such a garden and not to enjoy it !

There are a few photos of the garden in the book I have on the renovation of the palace. It looks much better with the big trees and leafs than in the photos in my earlier link, in which the photos must be from pretty early in the spring as there are no leafs in the trees.

The photos are from more than ten years ago and the trees would be even bigger now.
