On May 07, 2001, Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium officially announced the first pregnancy of Princess Mathilde (Image). Their first child, daughter Elisabeth Thérèse Marie Hélène, was born on October 25, 2001 at 9:58pm at the Eramus Hospital in Anderlecht, Brussels. First Speech for Princess Elisabeth

Princess Elisabeth (9) opened, together with her parents Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde, the new children’s hospital ‘Princess Elisabeth’ in Gent on September 7. For this first official engagement of the Princess, 10 camera crews and more then 40 journalists showed up. Back to School for the Belgian Youngsters

September 1st is traditionally the first day of school in Belgium. The children of Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde, and also the youngest daughter of Princess Astrid, go to school at the ‘Sint Jan Berghmans College’ in Brussels. Belgian Dotation System Revised

The Belgian government had appointed a parliamentary commission to discuss the dotation system of the Belgian royals. Every now and then, word came out that the commission wanted to strip Princess Astrid and Prince Laurent of their dotation, but up until now there had been no formal declaration regarding the matter. Philippe, Mathilde & family on winter holiday

Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde used last week’s school holiday to take their kids out to the snow. The family stayed in the Swiss Alps, in Verbier, where Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark have been frequent visitors. Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel are already quite skillful on the skis, and they look very cute in helmets and red ski outfit. Thanks to royals.web-log.nl

Inauguration of Princess Elisabeth Base Antarctica

  The little Princess Elisabeth herself, whose name the polar station so proudly bears, visited the International Polar Foundation in Brussels on the occasion of the inauguration last Friday, together with her father, Prince Philippe.
