Princess Margriet, Honorary Chairman of the Dutch Red Cross

Princess Margriet has left the board of the Dutch Red Cross and to thank her for her efforts, the council of members appointed her honorary chairman of the association. Her son, Prince Pieter-Christiaan, was elected by the Members’ Council to an administration position of the organization. Dutch Royal Honor the ‘Soldier of Orange’

Various members of the Dutch royal family attended the premiere of the muscial ‘Soldaat van Oranje’ (soldier of Orange) at a special theatre on the former militairy airport of Valkenburg. The musical is based on the WWII memories of Erik Hazelhoff-Roelfzema (1917-2007), a Dutch RAF pilot and spy. According to newspaper the ‘Telegraaf’ the best way to describe the annual National herring party at Castle the Nyenrode in Breukelen is to call it the Ascot of the Low Countries. Applause for Queen Beatrix at Remembrance Day

Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands was applauded during the national remembrance ceremony on Dam square yesterday. The royal family volunteer their time for this event every year, and it brings out the majority of members of the family. Prince Pieter-Christiaan Injured during Ski Trip

Prince Pieter-Christiaan, the 36-year-old nephew of Queen Beatrix, injured himself during a skiing holiday in Seefeld, Austria, earlier this week. The Prince fell while skiing, and injured his ribs. He was flown via helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck for treatment. Pieter-Christiaan returned to Holland on Tuesday to recover from his injuries.
