On Monday, Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands made the trip north to Denmark where she had a meeting with Princess Marie. The two women discussed literacy and ways to improve the reading skills of children. Also present for the meeting was Danish Minister for Education, Merete Riisager. Princess Marie is patron of the Danish UNESCO National Commission, while Princess Laurentien is the UNESCO Special Envoy on Literacy for Development.
