Funeral of Princess Alix of Luxembourg, Dowager Princess de Ligne
On February 16, the funeral of Princess Alix of Luxembourg, Dowager Princess de Ligne took place at the Saint-Pierre Church in Beloiel, Belgium. Princess Alix had passed away on 11 February at the age of 89 and leaves behind seven children, twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, though one of her grandchildren, Prince Pedro of Brazil, was killed in a plane crash in 2006. The Grand Ducal Court of Luxembourg has today confirmed that Grand Duke Jean was hospitalised last week to receive treatment for bronchitis, and spent Christmas Day there. The physicians treating the 95-year-old Grand Duke find that his recovery is “very satisfactory”, but will be keeping him in hospital for a few more days to allow proper medical supervision as he continues to recover. Grand Duke Jean, former Grand Duke of Luxembourg, has been admitted into hospital due to basic circulatory problems. It is expected that he will be able to leave after a few more ‘days of observation’, according to Luxembourger Wort.
