General News about the Swedish Royal Family, Part 2: January 2021 -

Yes, nice summary of a tough time. Although I don't agree about Sweden and Norway being close. Norway definately didn't want Sweden as an overcoat after freeing itself from Denmark, so the relations weren't exactly hunky dory. Come to think about it- we've never had much of a relationship at all...

General News about the Swedish Royal Family, Part 2: January 2021 -

It's a lot more complicated than to say there were lots of nazis in Sweden though. The dilemma was that Sweden, first and foremost, has always been on Finland's side. In WWII Finland had no choice but to side with Germany, since for them, the Soviet Union were a much worse threat. We had also...

Madeleine never did any royal duties to speak of. I'd be surprised if she'd suddenly step up and become a working royal.

Princess Sofia of Sweden Jewels 2: 2018 -

Good theory. I can easily understand that she feels she doesn't want to spend three hours with the hairdresser whith three small boys at home. This tiara is now so adapted to her head that she probably can just plop it on her flowing mane. My theory has been that maybe she's like me, I can't...

Victoria, Daniel and Family, General News Part 5: January 2021 -

A regent (Riksföreståndare) is only needed when the King is far away, like Australia or South America, or if he's in a place where infrastructure is lacking and it would take forever to come home. Which is never the case in Europe of course (except for the very north of Sweden, haha). If...

Princes Alexander, Gabriel and Julian, News and Pictures Part 1: September 2017

Also, since I live here, I have noticed that every kid in our part of Stockholm, has the same look. That's how it is with children, they want to look like everybody else, nobody wants to deviate from the current fashion fad. It's good of the parents to not force them to look outlandish.

Thank you, the voice of reason. My sentiments exactly. I can't believe what I've been reading in this thread, people who keep harping on about things that are none of their business.

Josefine is already a snappy dresser. It's going to be interesting following her fashion choices in the future. I have high hopes for her. ?

Swedish Royal Family, Current Events, Part 9

I've never done anything like that. Not even after partying the whole night before a boring event. I think it's very unfortunate that a future Head of State falls asleep while a current Head of State is speaking. I'm disappointed, I thought better of her.

Crown Princess Victoria's Daytime Fashion Part 17: June 2023 -

Yes, shekind of is; like Lady Finn wrote "Victoria today in Berlin, at the meeting with Federal-President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Later there is a Wreath-laying ceremony and Victoria gives the keynote speech at the official ceremony on the National Day of Mourning at German Bundestag."

Princess Madeleine, Chris O'Neill & Family, General News Part 4,February 2021

Yes, I think so too. And I also think that Madeleine feels it's important that her children have a closer relationship with their cousins. Chris' family is rather spread out around the globe, but M's family is a close knit unit, a good foundation for her kids.

I don't know how much money Chris is earning, but I do know that Madeleine is good for a substantial fortune and could easily support the family.

It was sold in 2021, I don't know what it went for but the last time it was sold, in 2014, it went for 3,3 Swiss Francs. It can never be bought back unfortunately.

Because I so much wanted it to be a part of the jewels inherited from Queen Josefina. I've been wondering what became of the jewls she's wearing on her portraits. I know that her only daughter Princess Eugenia sold the pieces she inherited to finance a children's hospital. Would be nice if they...

I'm not sure about that, The King renounced the duke title when he ascended the throne, as the tradition bids. Victoria can chose to do therwise of course.

Thank you for those pics. I think maybe the mystery emerald tiara Queen Josefina is wearing on the Fredric Westin painting is solved. Well, I suppose it's emerald since it seems to be worn with the emerald necklace and brooche. I've been searching for any signs it's still out there...

Popularity of the Monarchy in Sweden

If you compare it with 20% confidence in the political parties and 42% for the Parliament, it's pretty good. :flowers:
