I'd love to see the Brazilian monarchy restored, as I would for all monarchies, but in particular, Pedro II is one of my favourite monarchs.

I don't think the Queen of Canada can be judged, but if she committed murder, they would probably disregard that and try her any way, like ol' King Charles I. But really, Her Majesty has never done anything wrong, a master of self control she is.

I wish they would start bestowing them in Canada again. Canadians can't have titles, apparently.

I think somebody has probably mentioned it on here before but, as of today, the commonwealth monarchy now has equal succession for both genders, this has been approved in all 16 countries with the monarch as their head of state.

Louis XIV is the longest reigning European monarch, at 72 years. He died in 1715, just days shy of his 77th birthday.

I don't much like Salic Law, I think it should at least be possible for women to inherit the throne. As I recall, the whole reason that the British monarch was often styled "King of France" without actually ruling France was due to a dispute over Salic Law.

Louis XVI seemed to believe this quite strongly, but it cost him his life! I guess you can't really blame him, he grew up raised to believe that it was his divine right. But he still wasn't a very good king.

I agree with that opinion, I hope never to see any more monarchies abolished, I want to see them return! I have even heard talk of Canada becoming a republic after the Queen's reign is over. I sure hope this never comes to pass.

Queen Elizabeth II has said that she will not abdicate I am pretty sure. Her health seems to be good so perhaps she will even break the 72 year record of Louis XIV for longest reigning European monarch.

It would be very strange for Hawaii to be a monarchy, but still an American territory, a monarch subservient to a president, very strange indeed.

I always want to live in a monarchy, and if Canada were ever to split off from the monarchy, I would still consider the royal family to be the head of state for me. God save the Queen.
