Anna Anderson's claim to be Grand Duchess Anastasia

There is NO solid proof to indicate that Ernest did or did not make the trip to Russia in 1916, that is a fact. Many people highly placed within the Hohenzollern family spoke of it, two being the Duchess of Brunswick, and the Crown Princess, and the German High Command. I would also think that...

Anna Anderson's claim to be Grand Duchess Anastasia

Anastasia Evidence, There are striking similarities between the two. While I don't believe she was Anastasia, I surely DO NOT buy the Franziska story. Do you know that there is only ONE actual photo of Franziska in existence? Which was taken pre WW I. According to Felix Schanzkowski, the...

The Late Diana, Princess of Wales News Thread 7: October 2007-June 2008

I think the guy should be given a break, look at what the establishment tried to do to him. They were ready to convict him, and look at how long it took the Queen to step in and stop it. They RUINED his life. I don't agree with some of the things he has done since, but he did guard many of...

Grand Duke Kyrill (1876-1938) and Grand Duchess Victoria Melita 'Ducky' (1876-1936)

Did she have to as part of the agreement that allowed Kyrill back into Russia, and restored his titles, monies, etc? I often wonder what QV would have thought about the divorce, and then Victoria Melita's 2nd marriage to Kyrill, to have 3 granddaughters in Russia, would have sent her on to glory...

Grand Duke Kyrill (1876-1938) and Grand Duchess Victoria Melita 'Ducky' (1876-1936)

I think Marie is the most fascinating of the Coburgs, and probably the most likeable. The others don't seem to have the flair that she did. Didn't she tour the USA shortly before her death?

Grand Duke Kyrill (1876-1938) and Grand Duchess Victoria Melita 'Ducky' (1876-1936)

Most if not all of the Tsar's wives were of German extraction. Possibly the friction between Germany/Prussia & Russia goes back to Frederick The Great & Catherine The Great, or before.

Marie Pavlovna "The Elder" (Grand Duchess Vladimir) (1854-1920)

That is intereting, one would have thought she would have converted long before. I believe there was some tension or dislike if you call it from the Dowager Empress, and there was a story about the Marinsky Theatre, which I believe was not the first time Marie Pavlovna found herself at adds with...

Grand Duke Kyrill (1876-1938) and Grand Duchess Victoria Melita 'Ducky' (1876-1936)

I also believe like her sisters Sandra, and Bee she and her husband were also supporters of the 3rd reich. I don't think any of the Coburg girls had a sustaining relationship with their English cousins with the exception of Marie.

Romanovs and the Revolution: What Happened and How Did the Survivors Manage?

Xenia Alexandrovna became involved with a couple of conmen who sold her a bill of goods, promising to make them all rich again, she pawned 5 different pearl necklaces at different times. The men were arrested and sentenced to prison, she did win money back in a lawsuit. I believe Marie...

Anna Anderson's claim to be Grand Duchess Anastasia

If you read the Lost Fortune of The Tsar, and Greg King's excellent book on the last court of Imperial Russia, it seems that there is a confusion as to which money was the private monies of the Romanovs and the state money, obviously N&A considered themselves the state, assuming that any money...

Anna Anderson's claim to be Grand Duchess Anastasia

Also there were Crown Princess Cecilie Of Germany, (whose mother was a Romanov), there were Princess Xenia and her sister, daughters of Grand Duke George & Princess Marie of Greece. Near the end of her life Irene of Prussia said, "She is similar, but what does that mean if it is not she?"...

Anna Anderson's claim to be Grand Duchess Anastasia

I have always felt that there was something to this story. Ernest had way too much to lose if word got out that he traveled to his sister's during the war, imagine how his people would have reacted to such news. As one of the more popular monarchs in Germany, it could have cost him a great...

Anna Anderson's claim to be Grand Duchess Anastasia

AWF, Anna Anderson WAS NOT declared insane by Doctors here or in Germany. That is a fact. There are laws governing mental health, and officially declaring someone insane. Since you are looking to maintain "the integrity" of history (your quote), don't you feel it is rather unkind to state...
