Royal Jewellery & Fine Arts Auctions and Exhibitions

I can't add much to Gillw's description of the exhibition, except to say that I feel so privileged to have attended also! Just a few days ago in fact. To say that I was dumbstruck is putting it mildly. Gill describes the room and route very well! I must mention the snuff box of Frederick the...

Catherine Middleton Wedding Dress Suggestions and Musings

I think that's she's got so slim that she will look good in anything. I suppose that we shall just have to wait and see. As for her tiara, she will enter the abbey wearing flowers or just a veil on her head...she will exit wearing a tiara. (I would not be suprised to see her wearing the...

Duchess of Cornwall Jewellery 6: January 2008-September 2011

They are indeed lovely. Also the photo of the Queen wearing the Vladimir tiara with the pearls made me wonder when did she last wear them with the emeralds? It seems that she always uses the pearls these days. Anyone know?

Wedding of William and Catherine: Suggestions and Musings

Being a huge fan of Prince Charles and all his efforts, I was shocked to see Prince William giving his fiancee the ring of Diana, thereby giving the press an excuse, (as if they needed one!) to drag up all the gossip and tragedy of "Saint Diana." I think that William should have had more...

Charles & Camilla: How has your opinion changed since the wedding?

I quite agree, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone. " My feelings for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are only friendly and respectful. These feelings have increased since their marriage. I applaud their dignity. I am sure that the Queen regarded Diana as the...

Sarah, Duchess of York Current Events 15: October 2009-December 2010

I am so disappointed in her now. I always supported her, despite her mistakes, which I always thought were made in innocence. To me, unlike Diana, she never had any spite against the Royal Family. This is worse than spite. It is unforgivable greed, crassness, vulgarity and hypocrisy. Not to...

    Queen Elizabeth II - Brooches 2: Nov 2009-Dec 2015

I didn't find one photo of Prince Albert's sapphire brooch in either thread, or did I miss it? It's my very favourite of Her Majesty's brooches, wish she'd wear it more often.

British Royal Jewels of the Past 1: Ending 2021

Tiara question. I see in this photo, girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. I am suprised because it is shown here with the border of diamonds at the bottom. I always thought that this border, to give added height, was an addition made by QE11. Help please Warren!

British Royal Jewels of the Past 1: Ending 2021

Thanks from me too. The Amethysts which QEQM sold are my favourite jewels of all time. I agree that Anna Wintour has no idea how to wear that necklace, and that they would have suited Camilla. It's a shame we don't get to see the whole parure being worn, in full coulour. Wow.

The Duchess of Cornwall's Fashion and Style Part 1: April 2005 - December 2009

Thanks for the photo's Al bina. I agree that the blue dress looks a bit "heavy," but she still looks pretty stunning. I can't quite make out the necklace though...it looks like one of the Saudi necklaces which belong to the Queen. Can anyone tell?

The Prince of Wales's 60th Birthday Celebrations: November 2008

Phew! It's taken me all day to peruse this lovely thread, but I just had to do it! A big thankyou to everyone who posted pictures, they were greatly appreciated. Thank you all again. It seems that Prince Charles did enjoy his birthday, and I am so pleased...if anyone deserves a break, it's...

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

Ysbel, it is amazing how the human animal behaves. Charisma, charm, and good looks always seem to be judged to be more desirable than good character. I have said this before, and make apologies for saying it again, if Diana had not been so beautiful, her impact on the world would have been...

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

...and ysbel, 100% applause. The mindset and dignity of Her Majesty is regarded as out of date by so many people.

Did the Queen act appropriately in the days following Diana's death?

I agree Odette. The Queen must have been torn in two, however angry she must have been with Diana, (and she must have been, the Martin Bashir interview was a no no,) she was forced by the country to make the announcement that she did. The death for her I am sure was a heartbreak, the critisism...
