The Royal Family of Spain, Current Events Part 16: September - October 2007

That guy is Diego Forlan, a Uruguayan soccer player who plays for Atletico Madrid.

Presentation of Infanta Sofía: May 4, 2007

The reality is that a baby is a baby...they sleep and they all look about the same...even Queen Margrethe said it about her granddaughter. I think the "presentation" of the baby is really more about the family being together and everyone seeing how they interact. I'm sure that we will see...

    Best-Looking Royals

Princess Aimee! I know she isn't a "major" royal, but I think she is the best of the bunch...

Royal Roles & Titles for the Spouses of Victoria, Carl Philip & Madeleine

Well, considering the fact that Carl Gustaf gave his uncle, Prince Bertil, permission to marry a commoner divorcee (Princess Lillian) and allowed him to keep his royal title, I think it's almost certain that everyone of the Swedish royal kids will get to keep their royal titles, regardless of...

    Royal Voices & Accents

The voice that really surprised me was Queen Sofia's. It was much deeper than I expected...sort of the same thing that people had talked about with Maxima.

The Change of the Act of Succession - 1979 Constitution Change

That's an interesting take on the situation. I once commented to a Swede that CP Victoria is very beautiful. They then proceded to tell me that it is a good thing she is the Crown Princess, because Princess Madeleine is so beautiful that if Victoria weren't the Crown Princess no one would even...

    Bowing and Curtseying

Great Pictures Weinyer...thank you so much! Who is that in the 7th picture curtseying to the Emperor of Japan? Is that CP Mary or someone else?

King Carl XVI Gustaf's 60th Birthday Celebrations: April 28-30, 2006

The Prince of Liechtenstein was there...you can see him in the back of the group picture of all the monarchs together. I think he was the only one from his family though.

King Carl XVI Gustaf's 60th Birthday Celebrations: April 28-30, 2006

I think that Mary looks amazing! She might be a lit bit pale, but otherwise perfect. Maxima also looks great, but Mette-Marit is not looking her hottest in my opinion.

King Carl XVI Gustaf's 60th Birthday Celebrations: April 28-30, 2006

Oh no, that's so sad. I hope she feels better, but it's really too bad that she won't be there.

King Carl XVI Gustaf's 60th Birthday Celebrations: April 28-30, 2006

It's true that we don't often see the King of Spain attend these events, but it seems like Felipe is usually at the weddings of other royals (at least the crown princes), so maybe he'll come to a birthday party, too. I do, however, remember seeing pictures from Carl Gustaf's 40th B-day and from...

    Swedish Royal Robes of State

Two more originally posted in the Princess Sybilla thread by GrandDuchess and Josefine (from Corbis).

Queen Sofia's Co-Operation Trip to Senegal and Cape Verde: April 2-5, 2006

Wow, Queen Sofia is so great! She looks so happy and I love her hands on approach to her job. Can you imagine seeing Queen Elizabeth sitting on the ground holding a baby?!

What Languages Do The Royals Speak?

Hey, I have heard before that Inaki is of Basque origin...does anyone know if he can speak the Basque language? And do Cristina and Inaki speak Catalan, too, since they live in Barcelona?

Interviews with Members of the Royal Family

So is the king offended that people just say "du" sometimes instead of calling him king? Maybe he thinks that people are kind of disrespectful to call him "du"?

Interviews with Members of the Royal Family

I'm not very familiar with the Swedish language...can someone explain to me what this means and why it's significant. Does saying "du" to the king offend him or something?

General Swedish Royalty Facts, Discussion and Questions

I don't think that Silvia (or Mary or Henrik for that matter) HAD to convert...but the churches in Sweden and Denmark are closely tied to the state and the royal families, so I think they chose to. I think they did it out of respect and as a symbol of their commitment to their new countries...

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia's Visit to Valencia: March 14-16, 2006

Oh man, the King and Queen of Spain are so awesome...that video was really funny. I'm glad to see such a big crowd turn out to see the King and Queen, too.

    Rules of Succession

I think that semi-sallic means that the rights to the throne are extended to ALL men in line to the throne before any women. For example, if Denmark were semi-sallic, then Queen Margarethe's male cousins would have been in line before her, though the possibility for a female monarch would still...

    Most Well-Run Royal Family

I think that both Queen Margrethe and King Carl Gustaf run their royal houses very well. The Spaniards are really, really professional, too. As for the Belgians, they tend to be fairly scandal-free, but lately there has been some press over Crown Prince Phillipe making too many political...

Spanish State Visit to Thailand: February 21-23, 2006

In the first picture it looks like the queens are holding hands...they must get along very well and really enjoy each other's company.

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, Current Events Part 8: December 2005 - Feb. 2006

Why has there been so little information and so few pictures of the King and Queen's visit to Thailand and Vietnam?

Royal Couples loving looks and gestures

Wow, you really don't see that everyday from these two...I have to believe that in spite of the rumors of infidelity, that these two still have a really strong close bond.

    Non-British Styles and Titles

Yeah, it was mentioned before, but the Luxembourg royals are HRH now, because of their connections to the Royal House of Parma. This came from the marriage of Grand Duchess Charlotte to some prince of Parma. Before that they were HGDH's.
