Tiaras and Jewels guessing for upcoming events: 2025

There is no state visit to Japan but an accession visit and Mary will not accompany Frederik. It will be the King only in Japan.

Danish (State) Visits: General Discussion, Suggestions and Musings

The visit in 1973 actually was an introduction visit, not a full state visit. Whereas the Scandinavian countries/monarchies got an introduction visit in 1973 and a state visit later, there never was a full state visit from Dk to Finland or to Iceland during Margrethe's reign, only from Finland...

Danish New Year Courts: 2025 -

I guess Joachim will return to Denmark in the not too far future.

Danish New Year Courts: 2025 -

Yesterday there were 2 courts. The second one (for the diplomatic corps) was held in the same palace, Christiansborg Palace.

No, she did not loose a shoe. Marie looked very elegant tonight.

    King Frederik's New Year Speeches 2024 -

IMO Queen Margrethe was not a great speech giver either. I can't claim to have listened to all her speeches but the ones I did listen to were delivered pretty badly. In particular I remember her very bad speech at the gala dinner during the state visit from the Netherlands. It stood out to me...

Danish Royal Family Christmas: 2024 -

IIRC Marselisborg is the one palace which is actually owned by Queen Margrethe. So they can't kick her out. And they didn't kick her out of state-owned Fredensborg either, but continued to live in the Chancellery House.

General Questions and Information about the Danish Royal Family

IIRC Mary had dual citizenship (Australian and British) and she had to give up both.

Royals at the reopening of Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris: December 7-8 , 2024

I was wondering why Princess Marie (who had an event in France on the 4th) did not stay in France to represent Denmark at the reopening. Her presence at the state visit was nice but not necessary IMO.

    State Visit from Egypt: December 6 - 7, 2024

The cultural activities are mostly done by the spouses. It does not look like the President is accompanied by his wife.

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

I was wondering about that too. They are not mentioned in the info by the museum. I don't think they are bracelets in the modern sense (like the belt they have no clasp) but I guess perhaps jewels which could be sewn on the sleeves (the belt was sewn on the dress) or - as you say - extensions...

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

They are not just showing the wrong necklace, but they are giving the wrong info that the same diamonds which Mary used for the tiara were worn as a necklace by Queen MII, notably at Frederik's wedding. It was Queen Ingrid who wore them as a necklace in 1950. As I understand it Margrethe only...

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

Sloppy journalism, the info given is wrong. Queen Margrethe wore the necklace of the brillant set at Frederiks wedding. There are only 4 sets of crown jewels and there is a website which gives detailed infos and pics, so it's not that difficult to get it right. But they manage to misinform.

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

Perhaps that one is intended for Isabella? The crown jewels are owned by the state. Mary can wear them but she can't change policies. And the crown jewels should be special and not be worn by all and any princesses IMO.

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

Yes, it's still a part of the crown jewels. It's a belt which was reimagined as a necklace by Queen Ingrid and now as a tiara by Queen Mary. But in whatever form it belongs to the rosecut diamond set of the crown jewels.

The crown jewels can only be worn by the Queen.

Queen Mary of Denmark Jewels 1: 14 Jan 2024 -

The piece that was altered is not a collet necklace, it was worn as a belt (at the time when jewels were worn all over the gowns). Set of rose-cut diamonds - The Royal Danish Collection

    State Visit from Egypt: December 6 - 7, 2024

According to the DRF website there was a state visit  to Egypt in 1986. Because Mubarak was another dictator with whom the western world was on good terms. As long as they are anti-communism and not islamistic .... Dk wants to do business with Egypt and to put focus on Africa , so the prime...

Tiaras and Jewels guessing for upcoming events: 2024

2 outgoing state visits in the first half of the year and 2 incoming in the second half. For the sake of symmetry I say Mary will wear the tiara of the Danish ruby parure.:)

Roskilde Cathedral, Burial Site of Danish Monarchs

You are aware that the norm in Roskilde Cathedral is to be buried indoors? Frederik IX. is the only king who is buried outside. So it may be her decision to be buried indoors but it's definitely not her or Henrik's idea. And it's certainly not untraditional or "against the stream". IMO the...
