Royal Family Attends Pascua Militar 2024

Today, Saturday January 6, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by the Princess of Asturias for the first time, presided over the annual Pascua Militar, a military ceremony held at the Plaza de la Armería at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
During the ceremony, attended by, among others, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón and several Ministers of the Government, the King inspected the Royal Guard formation, the national anthem was played and also took place a 21-gun salute.
Then, inside the Palace, in the Throne Room, the Royal Couple hosted a reception for members of the government, the authorities, the Veterans Association, the Brotherhood of Mutilated Knights of War for the Homeland and a representation of each of the three Armies.
King Felipe also awarded decorations to 20 commissioners
The King started his speech stating that “It is the tenth Military Easter that I have the honor of presiding over and it happily coincides with the fact that for the first time the Princess of Asturias is accompanying us”. King Felipe also remembered “the sacrifice and commitment of all those who, in national territory or in the area of ​​operations, work with total dedication every day of the year to guarantee our safety and well-being. permanently”.
Pascua Militar is held each January 6 and was established in 1782 by King Charles III to congratulate the Spanish Armed Forces following the reconquering of the Balearic Island of Minorca.
