Prince Harry’s Tour of the Caribbean: Day Twelve – Guyana

Prince Harry’s Caribbean tour has reached its final destination: Guyana, who is this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of their independence from Britain. The Prince will spend the weekend here before making his return to London on Sunday afternoon.

Upon arrival, the Prince began his visit to the country with an audience with the President of Guyana, David Granger, who joked that photographs with politicians were “not quite Rihanna”, before heading to the Independence Monument in Georgetown where he laid a wreath.

Harry then continued his engagements at the Headquarters of the Guyana Defence Force, where he met with officers and veterans, who made him an honorary member of their Veterans Legion, and was given a tour of the Camp. He also laid a wreath at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in the capital, honouring the residents of Guyana who sacrificed their lives in the First and Second World Wars and in the pre-independent years. of those who lost their lives during the two World Wars and the pre-independence years.

The Prince finished his first day in Guyana attending the British High Commissioner’s reception that was also attended by participants of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International.
