My congrats to the princess and her baby-glad everything went well!
The law could still be changed, so we mustn't be so quick to despair. With only one male heir, someone is bound to realize how easily they could end up in the same situation all over again. The boy might not even refuse to...
I live in the easter US...how many hours is Japan ahead of me?
I doubt a boy child would make life any easier for Masako at all. And think of the enormous pressure and protection that will be placed on this kid if it is a boy. I mean, sure, the parents will love him, but he will be the "last...
Perhaps, like so many parents at that age, they see their once little girls growing up and want to relive having a little baby to raise. And since the IHA also want another baby-a boy-why not give it a go.
Either way, best of wishes to Princess Kiko and the baby. Let's hope they both remain...
While I disagree with their custom of "passing the line through the male", I've just now taken the time to think about it in a scientific manner. Placing all the hope on a woman would be quite a risk. They could be unable to produce or carry children to term. Plus, men are capable of having...
I think her expressions in the photos could be misread. Leaving home alone to travel to another country would make anyone scared. But think about this-maybe her smiling or not smiling has to do with other things. Leaving and returning home, she was probably swarmed by media and very nervous...

If the baby is a boy:
Cons:
-CP Masako might be treated even worse.
-The law might never be changed to allow females a chance to succeed.
-The daughters of the family might feel like they were not good enough.
-The pressure on the newborn will be enourmous, plus he would be under constant...
After reading this thread for updates for so long, I have finally joined to post.
I can honestly see a huge list of pros and cons for the baby turning out to a girl as well as a boy. I just hope that both the baby and Princess Kiko stay healthy and safe.
