No, the parure doesn't have a ring and this one has a very modern design.
Margrethe II used to wear the parure with a large cabochon emerald ring surrounded by smaller diamonds. I don't know if it's private property or part of the family foundation, which you make it at Mary's disposal now.
I think Princess Margaret got it right by wearing the Crown of India atop her royal family orders. After all, the OCI was/is part of the official honorific system and gave precedence to the wearer, while the RFO does not.
We also know that the RFO's are worn in descending order, with the...
Princess Alice wasn't very consistent with the placement of her CI, though. For example, in this 1952 portrait she's wearing it atop of her RFO's - LINK
@dutchroyaljewels on Instagram has traced the large sapphire to Queen Juliana. The earrings should be either also sapphires or possibly chalcedony.

Queen Margrethe has told the story of how her mother, the late Queen Ingrid, wore the Crown pearl necklace every night in private trying to restore their luster after years of remaining unworn on display, but are there are known photographs of her wearing them at an official function?
Thank you for the clear photo @Sarahbellar . I think that's the photo I had in mind, although from a different occasion.
Anyway, Queen Silvia did wear the earrings and bracelet in Thailand in 2006. Not sure about the matching necklace...
That's a nice surprise from The Queen! First the lovely aquamarine earrings for the welcoming ceremony, then the modern diamond suit for the Banquet.
I don't think the diamond demi-parure is new. I seem to remember HM has worn them before with the grey dress from the 2007 Japanese State Visit. I...
It was said that the dress set Christian wore at his birthday gala (the jewelled buttons on his vest) were a gift from Margarethe II and had belonged to the Prince Consort. They are a different set, though. However, we don't know the full extent of the gift, so is possible the sapphire cufflinks...
Yesterday during the abdication and proclamation in Christiansborg, Crown Prince Christian wore a pair of sapphire (?) cufflinks that belonged to his grandfather, the late Prince Henrik.
