Royal Cyphers, Coronets, Arms and Monograms

Duchess of Cambridge Coat of Arms The new website of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge finally shows Kate's coat of arms after the wedding. As far as I know there was no official announcement for the issuing of the Royal Warrant (as it was the case with Camilla back in July 2005). Coat of Arms...

Royal Cyphers, Coronets, Arms and Monograms

I don't know whether it's the official purpose of monograms or not, but they're mainly used on stationery, as letterhead, and as such for both private and official correspondence. When a lady-in-waiting/secretary writes on behalf of a Bristish royal, for instance, she/he writes on the same...

Royal Cyphers, Coronets, Arms and Monograms

A good example of imaginative can be found in the Danish Royal House, where a totally new cypher, different from Joachim's and Marie's individual monograms was created on the occasion of their wedding: Joachim: Marie: Dual Cypher - Joachim and Marie: Same with Joachim and Alexandra...

Royal Cyphers, Coronets, Arms and Monograms

I just don't understand why the BRF are so unimaginative when it comes to their wedding monograms/dual cyphers, they simply put each individual monogram side by side or one over the other and that's it. No effort is made to try to create a new and original combined monogram as it is the case...

The Royal Foundation of Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and Duke & Duchess of Sussex

Like Excalibur, I first thought it could be a combination of the three Royals' initials, but now I think you got it right, EIIR, it does seem to be a lower case r and f, though not easily recognazible at first glance. Pity that there's no info on the cypher in the website.

    Catherine Middleton's Wedding Dress

Agogo, the lace on Kate's wedding dress was of very good quality and was stiched on tulle by top-notch seamstresses, there's is no doubt, we can really see the quality of the handcraft. What I meant to say is that the overall pattern that Sarah Burton created, the end result of cutting the...

    Catherine Middleton's Wedding Dress

Thanks for posting those pics, Merel. I for one think that Caroline Trentini's gown has a lighter feel to it. There was a sort of harshness in Kate's dress that still bothers me, the bodice was too stiff (it looked like an orthopedic cast), the lace motif a tad overthought, the skirt had...

    Crown Princess Mary's Daytime Fashion Part 16: March 2012 - May 2012

The reason why CP Mary wore those boots on the set of The Killing is a very simple one: she (as well as Camilla) was advised by the cast to wear flats. Actress Sofie Grabol said to the Mail: ‘I told her [Camilla] last night to wear flat shoes. This is not really an inviting place for a royal...

It's A Girl for Victoria and Daniel! Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary: February 23, 2012

The name Estelle per se sounds very nice, but in France it has a rather show bizzy ring to it, not very aristocratic, I'm afraid... But from what I could see, it sounds really cute for the Swedes and that's all that matters.

It's A Girl for Victoria and Daniel! Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary: February 23, 2012

Having the name Marie/Maria among baptismal names is a very common thing in European catholic aristocratic circles.
