Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and Miss Rajwa Khalid Alseif: June 1, 2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Is the Monarchy popular in Jordan ?
Amman must has been in high Security with all the Head of States . Who paid it ?

I wonder how much Rajwa's parents contributed to the wedding. According to some, her father is a billionaire, others deny it. Still, they look like a fairly well off family from Saudi Arabia.

These dudes in the uniforms from the Caucasus: They are descendents of Caucasians, which fled to Jordan, when Imperial Russia conquered the Caucasus in the 19th century.

They played a crucial role in establishing the rule of the House of the Hashemites over Jordan, after the Hashemites were driven out of Mecca by the Sauds.

(The 'Hashemites': Name of the reigning dynasty in Jordan.)

The inhabitants of Jordan were not very glad about their new rulers, but the Caucasians guarded them while camping around their premises and helped them to establish their rule over the land.

Thanks. Very interesting.

Only Hamzah was missing.
Prince Hashim -who is very close to Abdullah- and Princess Raiyah were present at the celebrations.

I didn't see Princess Iman bint Hussein at the wedding, only her sister Raiyah and brother Hashim (and their spouses).

She is in the group picture of the JRF I'll try find a link now

Edit - link taken from Adda's post above

I shamelessly assume you're responding to my post about Iman (bint Hussein) :D

Where in the group photo do you see her? Either Iman has changed a lot since the last time I saw her (granted, many years ago) or I simply can't find her

I read elsewhere that Ivanka Trump attended.

I am wondering how do the Middletons manage to get a ticket like this to the ceremony and reception when people like the Princess of Orange, Pavlos of Greece, Princess Margarita of Romania didn't.:ermm:

The BRF are on very close terms with the Jordanian family , could it be that they have all attended private occasions and became friendly with the Middleton family. As a result they have been invited in their own right,

I wouldn't be surprised if they were specifically invited as guests of the Groom. Possibly they had met via private royal family occasions during his time at Sandhurst?

It is interesting that a wedding in Jordan had more bling than royal weddings in the United Kingdom (not to mention the Coronation).

I agree. I remember the 50th birthday celebration for Crown Prince Frederick was a tiara event. I just don't understand why the British Royals don't do the same. King Charles's 75th birthday would be an excellent time for a tiara event and a huge celebration. But, it won't happen. I just don't get it. Why the difference?

Did anyone else notice that Sheikha Mozah was wearing the Duchess of Windsor's leopard bracelets at the banquet? I wonder if the attending Windsors noticed, lol

I'm ready for someone in the British royal family to take up Queen Mary's mantle! Wear all the jewels at once. :)

Me too!! I recently read John Colville's diary, "The Fringes of Power", that he kept when he was a private secretary to Winston Churchill during WWII. Colville's mother was a lady in waiting to Queen Mary, and a few times during the diary he mentions talking to Queen Mary. He comments on how she wears a lot of jewels even in her private time. He is very complimentary about how well she wore them. I so wish the big jewels and tiara events would come back.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner spotted at the banquet. Who took and released a photo of Ivanka chatting with William? What cameras were allowed inside? Some people are going to have a field day with this. No matter their status in the US, still invited to the Jordanian royal wedding. Same as Jill Biden, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry. The English translator on the live feed kept saying “friendly” and why yes the Jordanians are friends with a wide range of people.
I love Ivanka's dress.

I don’t think William and Kate know much about the the Duchess of Windsor jewels and probably haven’t heard of her. Apart from Charles, most of them aren’t really interested in royal jewels and probably don’t know about the late Duchesses jewel collection.

I think they are aware that there was a Duchess of Windsor. No way William missed THAT story. But they probably have no idea about her jewel collection.

They definitely didn’t notice and probably are unaware of the jewels.

What a fabulous vintage Valentino she wore to the ceremony and I certainly noticed the jeweled belt she wore with her green dress at the reception. Does anyone have a picture of her with the bracelets?

Why would they have a field day? Two guests at a wedding meet up and have a chat. Would you have preferred William to snub them and refuse to speak to them..why?

I agree there is probably a bit of politics and keeping other countries on friendly terms with the guest list or it could just be that during their travels the Jordanian royal family have enjoyed peoples company and took a like to them and decided to invite them to a family occasion .

Why is there an assumption that royal families and their extended family only meet up at weddings, funerals or coronations. We know there are private visits. we just do not see them or see them reported on court circulars.

I might be the only one... but I liked the dress Radja (sorry for possible misspelling) wore at the reception, also the opera gloves. Very suitable dress for a modern Cinderella Princess, as she will be the Queen of an historical country.

Well, his son the CP is regent when he is going abroad so they operate differently compared other monarchies. Maybe his wife chose not to attend. FYI, has attended events with his wife instead of Mateen for example, at William and Kate’s pre-wedding dinner hosted by the Queen he went with his wife not one of his sons.
It is not surprising that observations about a monarch taking his young son to international events instead of his wife raises questions as, if the partner is still alive or not excused because of sickness, it is the usual practise, to be accompagnied with ones spouse. They can, of course, do what they want - I just say that this is noticeable.
Here it seems pretty obvious the sultan usually takes this particular young son to events like this; the enthronement in Japan, the british coronation and now this royal wedding are striking examples of that!

The actual ceremony was very short. The actual ceremony took about 10 minutes and were in and out of the room within 15 minutes. The walk up to the room took halve the time of the actual ceremony...

I guess it was for security reasons that Jill Biden was the first to congratulate them after their respective parents?

I didn't see them curtsying but I did see a Japanese princess curtsying to them for some unknown reason.

Well, all european royal ladies curtsied if you watch the coverage. But it is very common for japanese (and Thai) royal women to curtsy meeting foreign Royalty, too.

I don't understand your argument. What does the size of Westminster Abbey have to do with attending a wedding in Jordan. And why would the in-laws of the British heir to the throne be invited to the wedding reception of the heir of a foreign royal family? I didn't see any other in-laws of either monarchs or heirs; for example, Mary's in-laws weren't there, neither were Daniel's or Máxima's...

So, I guess it has more to do with their 'Jordanian' history (they lived in Jordan for several years in the eighties) of course in combination with their daughter now being married to the future king of the UK, which somehow led to some kind of link to the Jordanian royal family.
I think we had a misunderstanding here. I didn´t realise the Middleton Family had been invited to the jordan wedding so I got it all wrong and thought you were referring to their attendance at W A at the coronation!
And yes, I also think them being invited has something to do with their 2,5 years stay in Jordan - still I don´t think they would have been there if their daughter/ sister was not the Princess of Wales...!

There are quite a lot of Circassians in Jordan and Israel.

James Matthews was definitely there with Pippa and Carole, according to my morning paper. I'd love to know how they came to be invited. The Middletons were ordinary air stewards when they lived in Jordan, and definitely wouldn't have been hob-nobbing with royalty.

They probably met during other royal occasions in the UK. The Middletons are often invited.

I really liked Pippa's dress by Temperly.

No, you are not the only one. It was a lavish ballgown for a lavish occasion. The bride, tall and slim with a perfect figure, was able to pull it off.

But like her bridal gown, i find the view much more impressive from the rear.

Did she purchase these at auction or does anyone know?
