As Carl-Philip opened the Volvo's ocean challange, will he also be there to congratulate the final winners (probably ABN-AMRO's 'Black Betty') and/or to hand out the prize?

I've read somewhere that Prince Carl Philip is expected to attend the finish of the Volvo Ocean race 2005-2006 in Gothenburg, Sweden (in June).

He was spotted with Emma going to Daniels gym Master Training II recently. ;)
I didn´t know, that Emma works out there as well. Neither her, nor Jonas look esp. trained/muscular.

Great, hopefully the dutch 'Black Betty' (one of the two ABN-AMRO-ships) will win the race & receive the first prize from the prince :)

I don't really like Emma's black hair. I'm not sure if this is a recent change or if she did it a while ago but I think her hair looks better when it's brunette.

Hello fellow Swedish forum regulars,

We know that Carl Philip is a nice-looking man that can make the ladies swoon but please no more swooning in his Current Events thread!

As the newest Swedish forums moderator, I have consulted with the other Swedish mods and we agree that its difficult if not impossible to follow Carl Philip's Current Events if everyone is going ga-ga over the handsome prince in his Current Events thread.

Please leave this thread for his Current Events only.

We also found the original thread that Marengo couldn't find about Carl Philipp's height and here it is.

https://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f12/heights-royals-8331.html?highlight=Heights+Royals

It has far greater detail on Carl Philip's and all the other royals height than was previously in this Current Events thread.

Feel free to have fun in this thread but just keep it to Carl Philipp's Current Events.

Thanks.

I know this is not so related, but I just couldn't resist. Has anyone seen the newest version of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice 5?" There is a contestant on the show named Tarek, who looks like he could be a stand-in for CP!!! Check this out!

Haha!! I know!!! Isn't it crazy? Everytime I watch the show, and Tarek does something, I say, "I can't believe CP did that!" It's now an ongoing joke......

Wow, he does look a lot like Carl Philip.

Yennie 04-08-2006 05:20 AM

Carl Philip got into a fight with tv host Peter Magnusson, one of the hosts of Hey Barberiba!

This happend (ofcourse :) ) many years ago, when they were 11 and 6 years old. Peters younger brother went to the same school as crownprincess Victoria and he met the prince during a schools day at Smedslättskolan.
" I saw a bunch of kids wrestling in the sand box, so I went over there and joined them"
Did you know who he was?
"No, but suddenly a SÄPO guard came and took him away. They must have thought it didint looked good for him to be involved in a fight like that. Thats when I thought: Oh sh*t, that must be the prince
Peter was 11 and Carl Philip 6 years old when it happend.
"He´s is five years younger than me so ofcourse I was stronger than him"
But the prince didn´t got any bruises.
"No, it wasnt a real fight. We were just fooling around. Just like kids do.
Who won?
"No one did, SÄPO stopped it!"

That looks like Madeleine's Lexus SUV. Is Carl Philip using it while Madeleine is in NYC? Or do they both drive the same car?

I think that's Carl Philip's own Lexus, they all drive the same type of car :) The press reported recently that the King has ended the lease for Princess Madeleine's car now that she's in the US.

Harry's polo shirt 05-05-2006 09:21 PM

He ended the lease, so was he paying for it?

I think this birthday will be a private one. He's turning 26 (which is special) but not special enough to have public celebrations like his 18th birthday when he came of age.

berry 05-14-2006 03:48 AM

he is turning 27. Born 1979.

GrandDuchess 05-14-2006 06:43 AM

There was a congratulatory ceremony on the Outer Court Yard at the Royal Palace of Stockholm when Prince Carl Philip turned 25, as well as an interview on TV, so I guess they considered that special. But on his "normal" birthdays we get nothing, it's all private. Perhaps next time when he turns 30 :D

Bia 05-14-2006 11:04 PM

Do you know how is celebrated this day?

As no one saw him we cant be 100 % sure, but since it was mentioned in the official calendar I think it would be strange if he hadnt been there...?

Elki 06-26-2006 01:58 PM

I watched the German news carefully, he wasn't even mentioned in the German media, so I was wondering whether he was really in Cologne or not...

GrandDuchess 06-30-2006 04:53 AM

He was there, but even if it was mentioned in the official calendar, it seems he was there in private together with four friends. He wasn't seated in the VIP section, but in the normal crowd, and was mentioned in two articles I saw (he was spotted before the match).

The O.C. Fanatic 06-30-2006 09:47 PM

Yesterday at the Royal Family's summer haven Solliden at the island of Öland, Prince Carl Philip went kite surfing. Apparently he's been practicing it for two years, the sport came to Sweden seven years ago.

The Prince tries to practice it whenever he has the time, and according to a source of Aftonbladet, the King has also taken an interest and started to learn.

It can be a dangerous sport is one doesn't master the technique and have "education" for it, but Carl Philip apparently masters it but takes people with him in the boat for safety.

Carl Philip on holiday with a friend in the town of Båstad in southern Sweden!

Carl Philip and his friend were seen in the harbour wearing rubber costumes. They rented an RIB boat and jet skies.
- Thats what I call royal fun. The boat have room for 16 people but the prince and his friend rent it for themselfs only.
The boat came from Stora Blå in Båstad and is a large boat mostly used by the military.

You might be...? I hope he won´t change it for a long time to come!
Carl Philip has gorgeous, very thick hair, inherited by his mother and it
would be a great shame to cut it off. In fact it has a much more beautiful structure than the hair of his sisters!
And it´s not that long not to be able to wear it in such a manner on state occasions by far.
I used to think for a long time by now, that it´s very boring in my opinion
for princes always to have the same kind of short hairstyle.
Just look at the two Casiraghi-boys (though they´re not Royals): The long
hair looks simply fantastic and is a nice change to the alltime-average-princes-look.

The court is not amused with an article written by Daniel Nyhlen for TV4. He had publushed yesterday at 8.45 an article describing Carl Philips party night out at the posh stureplan club "The White Room" It describes how he and his friends got very drunk and splashed champagne on each other, danced on the tables and wrestled with each other, further some guest said they had never seen the Prince so drunk. At 9.45 the article was removed. In TV4 they say the needed to do some double checking and that things had gone a little fast. Nyhlen is suprised the article was removed, and says he stands by it 100%

The Courts press woman Nina Eldh says the Prince was at a party, but there was deffenetly NO splashing of champagne, and NO wresteling, and that even Princes must be allowed a night out with his buddies. She has talked to the Prince, and he felt that the article had exaggerated
https://www.expressen.se/index.jsp?a=657176
The court has dropped that case and does not want an apology:rolleyes:

Ulf Frederik von Roth says the Prince was at the White Room but he did not experience the Prince as drunk rather he was having a good time

Well, I´m for freedom of speech...the Royal court is allowed to present the Royal youngsters as super good, perfect and lovely honeymakers, so why shouldn´t ppl like Daniel Nyhlén be allowed to present it their way. At least that´s what I would understand under democracy. Ppl, who don´t like that can always read other media (Svensk Damtidning for example)
Personally I´m tending to believe the Nyhlén version a little more...it seems Carl Philip doesn´t always say no to binge parties (do you remember the story of him getting injured, when sliding on a serving tray) So what...better admiting it, than playing the saint. At least in my opinion it´s more likeable...

BTW aren´t many friends of the Royal family working at TV4

nayeli0016 08-25-2006 05:44 AM

I also have to say that that particular guy in the Apprentice season 5, Tarek Saab does have a resemblance with Prince Carl as well as with Orlando. Tarek's pretty cute.
Btw, is Prince Carl going to do any travels in the near future?

GrandDuchess 08-25-2006 06:15 AM

Yes, he's going to Shanghai together with the Crown Princess soon. Read more on the thread here.

Carl Philips wild night out censored.

The story is about an article Daniel Nyhlen wrote and published on www.tv4.se who later mystic disappeared. It was said that the royal court did not approve of the article where prince Carl Philip was describe as a party animal and had it removed.

Alison20 08-30-2006 06:16 AM

In answer to Lena, about freedom of speech. This is a good thing - but with it goes responsibility. To publish things that damage someone's reputation usually has legal implications. You need to be very sure of your ground. And it is possible that the law in Sweden is the same as in the UK - the Editor is reponsible for the content of the papers. So maybe, when the Court complained about the inaccuracies in the story, the Editor felt he evidence was not strong enough to keep it running.

I think a Prince should have the same resort to the law in cases of possible defamation as anyone else has.

Lakshmi 04-01-2007 07:42 PM

Prince Carl Philip is very good-looking, similar to his father, but darker. I think though he should have shorter hair, it would look classier, he's a prince anyway.;)

Marengo 04-02-2007 08:34 AM

I like the long dark hair actually. IMHO he could ever have it a bit longer and put it in a tail, like his actor look-a-like. But then I am partial to long dark hair, it always fascinated me.
Anyway, does anybody know when CP's internship will end? And the internship means that he is almost finishing his studies to, I assume?

I think he´s about 1.75 metres and that is quite short for a scandinavian male. But the King is also around that lenght so :)

CasiraghiTrio 09-06-2007 08:34 PM

It is amazing that he got to be part of a National Geographic photo expedition. Obviously being a prince helps, but then again, there are plenty of princes who never took advantage of their oppurtunities. Not taken, the oppurtunity is wasted, and that's a true tragedy. Seize the day!
What is he doing nowadays? Is he working, or studying, or doing research, or carrying out royal engagements? He shares an apartment with Emma, right?

Lamyah 09-10-2007 08:02 PM

its a tribute to their parents that all three siblings have a life and a career or their own, albeit Victoria is about being a queen in training.

kpusa1981 09-17-2007 03:52 AM

This fact is both a tribute to their parents and the fact media generally doesn't bother them as much as other royal families ie the Brithish royals which make much easier to hold down real jobs.

Lena 09-17-2007 08:09 AM

Real job? So far Carl Philip wasn´t thrown into the world of business and competition. He got educated as graphic designer...but now he is in the military again, so I´m personally not sure, if he aims a real career as graphic designer.
Carl Philip is puzzling me a little, as I had always thought, he is really seeking for a private "normal" life. But as things are now, I´m setting onto a career in the RF.
I guess he would perform duties in/for the military, every now and then he would do some graphic design projects for charities (like his mother´s childhood foundation) and apart from that he would serve some other duties (mostly related to sports) and would maybe get an own foundation. He (and his wife) would get an apanage from the state.
The same I´m seeing for Madeleine. Her main focus would be on charity.
Royal careers of siblings like many others and I´m not seeing anything special in it.
I´m more impressed by Royals, who worked as teacher like Infanta Elena, who are/were working for banks like Prince Constantijn or Prince Johan Friso or who are working as farmers like Prince Joachim.
And if one aims as young Royal for a career in the RF, I´m more impressed by some stays abroad, supporting developmental aid as Harry did, than by long military careers (but that´s a personal thing, as I´m not overly fond by the military)
One also shouldn´t forget, that Prince Harry is 5 years younger than Carl Philip and has plenty of time to get some education.
Surely Carl Philip has also still a lot of time to find his place...but seeing how little duties, he is performing and how he is doing one education following an other, internships, and military training, I´m having my doubts. But I´m always open for being disabused ;)

I was very impressed by his photo exhibition in Uppsala...and him participating in the Linné movie was surely very demanding. But it was also just a short time project and I´m not seeing, what he wants to do with this...if he wants to photograph on a regular base...or not. To summarise a long post: to me it seems CP is just doing things, he is interested in and has no thread and therefore I can´t cheer him and see a tribute to his parents...

What I´m though admiring him for is
-that he seems to have a certain talent in arts, he could make a lot out of.
-and that he isn´t grabbing all the nice things, his position would offer. He could surely have half of the Stureplan ppl in his bed, but has a stable relationship of 8 years...

There are some pics of him walking back to the Military College in which a has very long hair for someone in Military or Navy. Is this because is not full time Officer?

True. Harry is young but I don't think he will do any uni degree or other further education certs., unless it is military related.

I like Carl Philip, but I feel a little sorry for him.He seems a little lost to me.He's 29 and seems to be drifting from one interest to another, never committing to a career or a relationship. In the next few years his sister Victoria will marry and his duties will decline and the focus will be on the new royal family.

Not committing to a relationship??? He's been with the same woman for about 8 years! And he is still very interested in design and photography, he lately won a design contest in the USA.

Ducii 06-26-2008 11:41 AM

I think his girlfriend is Emma Pernald.

Even 9 years. ;) But in the past 5 years I hadn´t seen photos, which would show any passion between them (therefore the more with him looking "cosy" with guys). Nothing against test-driving (the first friends of Victoria get divorced already), but if it would be the big love, wouldn´t it have led somehere...at least in the past 2 years. Instead they went for a relationship on distance (his stay in the US) and it was said, that they even broke up at one point (must have been 1-2 years ago), but that Victoria&Madeleine persuaded them to get together again (could be a rumour though...)

And if he is so much into design, why doesn´t he make it to a real job (working with charities etc.) ?? And if he doesn´t wanna make it to a real job, why doesn´t he perform more duties? And with duties I am meaning things in the truest sense of the word...and not just things, which are fun for him like car ralleys or doing an exhibition on his photos.
And typically for the dysfunctional court...they had published his success on Martha´s Vineyard and wrote, that he had participated under a wrong name. So all in all it was a private matter...but if the press is asking about other private matters, they get bitchy answers
