who is she and why does she got two names?

moosey60 10-02-2003 09:15 PM

Wow! Kiko looks a bit like CP Masako! (I'm sorry, is that her name?) :flower:

moosey60 10-03-2003 11:19 PM

No, no, great photos. Hmm..haha, they're like twins! They have the same hair...maybe Masako will have two girls too. Is Aiko close to Mako and Kako? It seems like they only meet for official photographs and on family trips.

moosey60 10-05-2003 04:57 PM

Oh, well that's good. They look out for their cousin. How lovely, Kako obviously likes her then. Hmm...if Aiko turns out an only child, at least she'll have her older cousins.

paulette 11-14-2003 10:59 AM

Do you have pictures of her two daughters? I mean the latest pictures.

Isn't Kako on the RIGHT of Akishino? Kako's the wee one, Mako's the bigger one.

i wonder if princess kiko was ever stressful with the royal lifestyle which masako is feeling at the moment ?

hania 02-18-2004 09:40 AM

why does the crown prince's brother look so old compared to him-besides having white hair he just looks so old in his appearance!

Maybe, maybe not. One thing's for sure though is that she luckily doesn't have the burden of producing a male heir.

THere is photo of W-A and Maxima on a beach in the Antilles that is quite similar to this one Japanese .

Princess Kiko first met Prince Akishino at a bookstore in Gakushuin University when the Princess was studying Psychology and the Prince, Law. The Princess was introduced to the Prince by the owner of the bookstore. The Princess was also a member of the Prince's interest group.

The Prince proposed to the Princess at a pedestrian crossing in 1986.

Princess Kiko always smiles that Kiko-chan-smile was named after her.

Young, pretty, softly-spoken and with a warm smile, she quickly captured the love of Japanese people after her engagement with Prince Akishino was finally announced in Jan 1990 and they were finally married in June 1990.

Now Princess Kiko is almost 40 years old but she is still sooo pretty and sweet. I think the quality of her skin is almost flawless.

The same thought crossed my mind when I saw Kiko's childhood photos. I always thought the princesses favoured their father Akishino in looks, but you can definitely see the resemblance to Kiko in these photos.

I also thought Mako and Kako take after their father in looks but as the early pics of Kiko show, they will more likely resemble her in a few years.

Princess Kiko is lovely! I don't know much about her except her bio at Wikipedia- but one thing, she always looks serene and smiling. The two Japanese princes (Naruhito and Akishino) have exceptional taste in women.

This could have been an outing with the ornithology club that they were members of when they were at university. Perhaps not that many young women were interested in birds! (Just guessing, you'll need someone who can read Japanese well to read the caption)

Yes, at that time she must have been engaged to the prince but not married. You see that from their positions: the father in front, the mother a bit behind and then the daughter. After the wedding Kiko was above her parents in rank, she would then never be found to be standing behind them for a formal photo.

I freely admit that I am completely charmed, too, by young Kiko and her sweet smile. Pic

But although she is still a very beautiful woman, I find her smile nowadays often a bit frozen. Pic No surprise, probably...

Most royals have forced smiles; the pressure of being in public eyes 24/7 and constant evaluations have to be quite exhausting. Of course, those marrying into the Imperial Family have other issues to tackle as well.

Why I am fond of Princess Mako :flowers:

Prince and Princess Akishino during the nineties

Because of an exchange in the Princess Masakos adjustment disorder-thread, I have tried to find rather informal pics of the Akishinos and, so far, have found the following:

At Gakushuin (Incidentally, right in front there is Yoshiki Kuroda, now the husband of former Princess Nori)

Around the time of their engagement, I suppose

Just married: 1 ** 2

I have not found any really spontaneous pictures of the two (without children) in later years, but several photos are still interesting: 1 ** 2 ** 3

A couple of pics of the Akishino couple from the nineties (bottom right is the scandalous wedding photo for making which the photographer was thrown out of the press club) Nearly all of these show what strikes me as characteristic of the couple: She permanently looks at him, but he, although he is obviously aware of that (and maybe even expects it), does not look back.

(I cannot help remarking that Hisahito gets as much space there as his two sisters together...)

I dont see the need for announcing mako's birth on national television.
Because, IMO, instead of being indifferent, leave alone celebrating, Japanese actually mourn the birth of a Princess..:angry:
