B. 25 May 1966 in Leide, Netherlands, and grew up in the Hague. Maiden name: Petra Laurentien Brinkhorst.

Prince Constantijn and Miss Laurentien were engaged on December 16th, 2000. Their civil marriage on 17 Mai 2001 was followed two days later by the church ceremony.

Education/training
Like Prince Constanijn she went to the Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum at The Hague, but never graduated there.

She followed her parents to Japan, where she graduated International Baccalaureate from the Lycee Français. Laurentien studied history in Groningen and political science at the University of London, where she finished with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989.

Finally she took a Master Degree in Journalism at Berkeley University where she finished in 1991 with a thesis on street prostitution.

Laurentien worked for CNN in Atlanta from 1991 to 1992 and then moved to Brussels, where she and Constantijn grew closer and started dating.

In Brussels Laurentien worked for the Belmont European Policy Centre, Philip Morris and - until her marriage - for the public affairs consultancy Adamson BSMG Worldwide, where she was Vice President.

Since their marriage the couple lives in London, where Princess Laurentien works for the London department of Adamson BSMG.


Leisure interests
Princess Laurentien’s favourite sports are tennis, skiing, fitness and sailing. Her other hobbies include reading, travel and photography.

Born 11 October 1969 in Utrecht, the third and youngest son of Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus.

Two brothers: Prince Willem Alexander, Prince of Oranien (b. 27 April 1967) and Prince Johan Friso (b. 1968).

Family
On 16 December 2000, after a five-year relationship, Prince Constantijn announced his engagement to Ms Laurentien Brinkhorst (Princess Laurentien).


May 2001: Wedding in Haag
The couple's civil marriage on 17 Mai 2001 was followed two days later by the church ceremony.


Education/training
He received his primary education in Baarn. After his mother had acceded to the throne in 1980, the royal family moved from Drakensteyn Castle in Utrecht to Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague and Prince Constantijn received his secondary education at the Eerste Vrijzinnig Christelijk Lyceum, where graduatewd with VWO-levels in 1987.

After studying languages in France for a year, he started University at Leiden, majoring in civil law.

After graduation in January 1995, he worked for the cabinet of the Dutch European Commissioner Hans van den Broek, father of Princess Marilène, and specialised in difficulties concerning refugees.

He continued to work there in various capacities until the end of 1999. In December 2000, he was awarded Master of Business Administration at European Institute of Business Administration in Fontainebleau, France.

As part of his training, Prince Constantijn spent last summer working for the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group in Washington D.C.

After their marriage, Prince Constanijn and Princess Laurentien reside in London, where he works for strategic consultants Booz, Allan and Hamilton as company advisor.

The Prince is interested in asylum problems, European integration, the internationalisation of education, information society trends and international relations.


Official duties
It is only rarely that Prince Constantijn attends public events in his capacity as a member of the Royal House.

The younger members of the Royal House have made a conscious decision to pursue their own careers, and lead their lives as they choose.


Leisure interests
Prince Constantijn is a keen sportsman. He enjoys football, tennis, golf and skiing. His other hobbies include drawing, cooking and reading


Relations
As King Harald he is descendant of Wilhelm, Duke of Nassau (1792 – 1839). His mother Queen Beatrix and King Harald are third cousins once removed (firmennings barn).

Another royal gives up company job

Princess Laurentien has become the third member of the royal family this year to give up a job with a major private sector company.

The wife of Prince Constantijn stopped working with international public relations and communications firm Weber Shandwick in London as of 1 May. The national information service RVD said she wants more control over her time and to work more from the Netherlands as an independent public relations advisor.

Her husband left his position at strategic management and technology consulting firm Booz Allen & Hamilton in January, reportedly to devote more time to non-commercial activities. And his older bother, Prince Johan Friso has resigned from a post with London bank Goldman Sachs.

Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien were living in London but I believe they have moved back to the Netherlands now to help the Queen with royal duties or something to that effect. Princess Laurentien has left her job, too.

29/07/03 Prince Constantijn consultant Europa-communicatie on foreign affairs

His royal highness prince Constantijn of the The Netherlands will come forward by 1 august 2003 as a consultant Europa-communicatie on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. The prince will recommend the State Secretary for European matter concerning the elaboration and implementation of the communication strategie concerning European cooperation.

At issue is citizen the enlarging of the involvement of the Dutch at European cooperation. The activities will stand in the sign of the European presidency, who holds the Netherlands in second half of 2004.
Prince Constantijn worked from 1995 up to 1999 at the cabinet of then European commissioner of pine trousers. The appointment at foreign affairs is on part-time basis and applies to two years.

The prince has meanwhile its service link at Booz all and Hamilton in London, where he had worked since 2001 as strategic policy consultant, concluded.

I don't know, but I'm expecting them to make an announcment for 2004. In the pre-wedding interview Laurentien and Constantijn said they wanted three children. Laurentien will be 37 next year, I believe, so if she's planning on having three children it would be wise to have them as soon as possible.

Ooh, hard question you ask. You won't read about it in any one place, but it's putting various sources I remember together, and I don't remember the details, or spelling. So I'll just give you a vague outline of sources to check. Have you heard of the Bilderberg (sp?) group? They operate along side of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) based in the US, equivalent to a similar group (Round table?) in Britain -- they are behind the Rhodes Scholars. So this group of world bankers that hold the notes on much of the debt for the world powers was started by the Rothchilds and includes the Rockefellars in the US. They were responsible for getting the Federal Reserve scam passed in the USA, which had the final result of putting the US deep into debt. It's also known they financed the Russian revolution and financed both sides of the Vietnam War.

Up until 10 years ago at least, (last time I followed this) the current core of this most powerful organization in the world would meet every year on Jeyll Island off the coast of Georgia to decide worldwide economic strategies. Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands was the host of this annual meeting. Many call Alan Greenspan one of the most powerful people in the world, but he's believed to be a mere puppet of this group.

If you're interested the best source of information might be a book (can't remember name) written by Prof. Carroll Quigley of Harvard, Princeton and Georgetown Universities. This was also the man that former President Clinton referred to as his mentor. Prof. Quigley's knew personally and wrote his book disclosing the plan by international bankers to control the world from behind the political and financial scenes. Although Quigley personally approved of their methods and aims, others seeing this same information saw it as plans by the super-rich to establish dictatorships disguised as workers' democracies.

A royal baby is on the way to Holland. Princess Laurentien, who married Prince Constantijn in May 2001, is expecting her second child sometime in April 2004. She/he will be born three months after Crown Princess Maxima and Crown Prince Willem-Alexander's first child.

Last Sunday the 9th May it was Mothersday in the Netherlands. Constantijn, Laurentien and their children Elois and Claus-Casimir spent this day with Queen Beatrix on the boat the Groene Draeck. So Beatrix wasn't alone this day although Friso was on honeymoon and Alexander in Argentina. There are lovely photo's of Constantijn's happy family on the boat published in Story and Prive. The photo's are taken by Remi van Maren and I think they also will be published on Smuldersfotos.com. It was also a goodbey to Beatrix because Laurentien and Constantijn are moving out Huis den Bosch to Brussels where their children can live a relatively normal live out of the spotlights. It has been told that they moved to Brussels because of the safety of the family, but I didn't think that this is the reason. From Brussels it is easier to help with offical tasks now that they became the second royal couple (because Friso isn't a member of the Royal House after his marriage with Mabel). It is also been told that Friso and Mabel will move in Constantijn's house in London.

This must have been embarrassing for the Queen unless there's some medical problem that keeps her from doing so. I really don't know.

I was thinking that maybe because Laurentien is likely still nursing that it might've been uncomfortable to wear a bra? And no offence to bra makers, but bras made for nursing women aren't exactly accomodating with evening wear. But I'm not sure if that is really the reason why she didn't wear a bra. More my own musings.

Uhhh...I just thought that the top was just exceedingly "saggy". I dunno...I didn't like her outfit. She's beautiful and her tiara was really nice but her outfit...gah! What was with that dress? At first I thought it was a winter jacket that was cut up and sewn into a dress...and that top...gah! I'm sorry but that "saggy" look was not attractive. However, I didn't consider the "not wearing bra" scenario. :yuk:

Today Laurentien will bring baby Amalia in church for christening. Such an honour. It is clear that Constantijn as godfather of Amalia and Laurentien are really the second royal couple in line and will assist the crowncouple with their duties.

Why is it that Laurentien will carry Amalia into the church instead of Willem or Maxima or one of the godparents?

I spotted Prince Constantijn at Waterloo International Station in London this morning. He was on the same train as my mum and my sis from Brussels.
I think he noticed that me and my friend was looking at him, so he looked down shyly to the ground. He is a true Prince of Orange-he was carrying an orange bag. He looksss so normal and seems down to earth coz he was sitting in the standard class...

I don't know if this family picture of them has already been posted on this thread but I would post it because I like it. All of them looks very nice and happy.

In the Weekend there are photo's of the couple in love in Porto Ercole. Constantijn with a hat and Laurentien in a kind of bathsuit-top with trousers. They walk hand in hand, smiling and kissing. Constanstijn is doing a massage on the shoulders of his wife. The article suggets a third child with such amorous pictures.

Aren't there any photo's of Laurentien at the Worldanalfabeticday yesterday? There were items on SBS shownews and RTL Boulevard. She looked wonderful. She excused herself by a reporter of her stiff behaviour caused by a neck hernia. I really hope there are pictures available because she really is a beautifull stylish princess in action.

In a lot of European countries the wedding ring is worn on the right hand.

What's with the silver jacket? I've noticed that Laurentien is beautiful but she tends to cover herself with unflattering outfits/materials...esp. that outfit she wore to one of the May weddings...that jacket-like top that had people speculating that she may have needed more "support"?

How old is Laurentien? She looks rather old (late thirties/early forties) in the last picture, but I know she probably isn't that old since she just had a baby earlier this year. Maybe it is her haircut.

She is 38. Certainly not "old" to have a baby in this day and age.
