Jordanian Royals in Traditional Dress Part 1: May 2004 - May 2012
How often do the princesses wear them?
|
Well, from what I've seen over the years, the jordanian royal women wear 3 separate wardrobes--jeans and khakis for casual days, tailored suits for overseas and visits from european monarchy, and the traditional dresses for official Jordanian functions, like the beginning of the Jerash Festival. Sometimes, Queen Noor would wear beautiful Jordanian caftan-like outfits in Washington DC at official ceremonies celebrating peace accords. But even when visiting very conservative arab states, the only visible concession is the suits cover arms, most of the leg and the yannis or scarf is on their heads. I personally enjoy seeing them in Jordanian attire at special occasions---the lovely designs and fabrics are stunning. Queen Rania doesn't seem to wear them as much except for a few articles I've seen where she is promoting Jordan posing against the beautiful historical places in the country. Hope this helps. Maybe someone from the Middle East could give more insight.

Are the dresses as beautiful as the moroccan ones?

But let's remember, she was only 20-something when she died, so who knows what she would have done later.

Canada was colonized by europeans, so people wear traditional western clothing. But it is a very multi-cultural society so people from various ethnic backgrounds have their own traditional dresses they might wear at certain occasions. |

Those wedding dresses are fantastic! It's nice to see such colorful dresses-very different from white/ivory ones that are usually seen here. It's interesting too to see the differences between Jordanian dress and American dress. Thanks for all of the pictures!

Do you mean "shereen sayf-alnasser"'s mother, the egyptian actress, she's the younger sister of q.Alia's mother hanan Toukan, this is what i was meaning, she looks like her daughter, but as i know she's not allowed to come in Jordan, one of the reasons the sexual scandal of her daughter with one of princes of KSA,and bad tongues said that Q.rania is the reason, because K.A. wanted to marry her in the early 90's I sent in haya's thread and sheik Mo,the true photo of her grand ma when she was 15,now she's older than in that picture. |

Just a reminder that this thread is about Jordan's Traditional Dresses and if we can stay on topic as much as possible that would be great.
It may be a good idea to post the photo of the lady in question in the thread dedicated to Other Members of the Royal Family. I'm sure one of the other members will be able to get to the bottom of this mystery. Here's the thread: https://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...ead.php?t=3780 Thank you. |
