So that was a delightful little outing, no doubt. |
On September 11th, Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko visited the Imperial Palace. The retired emperor for goby research at the Institute of Biology and the retired empress for follow-up medical checks at the Imperial Household Agency hospital. Their motorcade entered the palace via Inui-mon Gate after 10am. This is Empress Emerita Michiko's first outing in 5 months since moving to Takanawa Imperial residence and coronavirus measures.

While the medical checkups did not find any major problems, Empress Emerita Michiko continues to have symptoms of low-grade fever, weight loss has not fully recovered, and a diagnostic indicator for heart failure remains higher than usual. No particular problems were found for Emperor Emeritus Akihito.

But isn't he the one who retired due to health issues? Was that really meant to be about the Empress Emerita?
|
I'm sorry to hear that there continue to be concerns about Michiko's health. She really has had one thing after another over the last few years. It's odd that apparently they have not been able to pinpoint the cause of the fever and weight loss; I'm not liking the sound of that at all.

I like Empress Michiko's modern jewellery; she and Queen Sonja and Queen Margrethe all wear nice modern jewellery and I admire that because so many royal ladies only wear the old stuff really.

It's not surprising, of course, that HM continues to be deeply interested in people who have been impacted by natural(/health) disasters. Or that he gave a special mention to Okinawa. :flowers: It is interesting, though, that the IHA continues to give him a platform for his communications about national issues. Do they receive much publicity? |
