I wonder what will happen when the duchess passes on, will all these fabulous diamonds go back to the BRF or is it her personal property?

The ones that have a royal provenance will remain with the BRF, some smaller private jewellery that she / Charles has bought (like the chokers wtc) or that she brought with her to her marriage will go to her children.

Oh that choker is the bee's knees, the cherry on top, you name it. The pearls are a gorgeous size and colour and the diamond and sapphire clasp is to die for. Of all her chokers, this one I really adore. (but only because coveting is a sin )

I agree Marge. I saw a similar choker, which was made by Faberge, at a museum. Even in person it didn't compare to the pictures I have seen of this gorgeous piece.

I do love her style with the jewels. She can wear the "big momma" jewels and they always look fabulous on her. Her collection, personal and state received gifts, is to die for.

Choker is one of my favorite pieces of hers. And that is saying something :flowers:

When it comes to jewel watching, in the BRF, Camilla is definitely the most exciting to watch. She can wear big gun jewelry like no one else. And her collection, in all shapes and sizes, is impressive to say the least.

New here...and have been lurking mainly for Camilla's jewelry.

I thought it was just weird me, but I am glad to see my perceptions confirmed - that this lady wears jewelry like nothing else!

There's something amazing about her because she manages to wrap dozens of imperfections into one impressive, perfect overall look.
Artistocratic job well done! :-)

She is absolutely impeccable in her "anti-Hollywood" persona.
It is easy (and possibly boring) to look great when you are "by the book" - pretty face, slim figure courtesy to consistent gym torture , young-looking, safe everything.

Camilla never really had the classical pretty face nor "perfect" anything; but when she shows up in those jewels she is so beautiful in a dignified, "blue blood" kind of way.
Princess Michael of Kent can do the same thing.

I loved Princess Diana and I love Camilla as well.
Two very different and beautiful women wearing jewelry fantastically - each one in her own way.

I agree. Like the late Princess Marina, like the Duchess of Kent, like Marie-Christine of Kent, also Camilla can look so regal. Last year, when she advanced the stairs of the House of Lords in her white robe de manteau, she looked every inch a Queen. Likewise when she was in formal day wear (in light blue, long robe, with headpiece, Orders et al, during the Investiture in Amsterdam, Camilla was so regal. The Duchess of Kent and Princess Michael can have "it" too. It is the poise, the expression.

duchessrachel 12-25-2017 04:05 PM

There is no one in my opinion who can wear big jewels like Camilla, except the Queen. She wears them instead of them wearing her.

I couldn't agree more. She is not my favourite person however when I see her wearing the Queen Mother's jewels and her own Saudi Emerald parure, her two elaborate ruby and diamond necklaces, she owns it. There is something about her being unapologetic about wearing these jewels, dressing up and owning the pomp and circumstance of being a royal.

She's the Duchess of Choker! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) Camilla really knows how to carry off her pearl chokers. This one looks like sapphires, or is it amethysts in the clasp?

At first, I thought it was her amethyst choker (shown above) but then looking more closely, it seems to be a large central diamond or cluster surrounded by amethysts or perhaps sapphires. Hmm . . . a mystery! And Camilla's jewellery mysteries are aways such fun. ;)

Camilla wears her jewellery very well; she's a natural in showing the best of the piece.
Even huge items don't swamp her. The stones shine as does she.

I don't think much is known about the provenance. My sense is it was probably a recent acquisition, possibly for her birthday last year. If I am not mistaken, it has only been in use since last autumn or thereabouts. Perhaps it was acquired as a brooch and since converted into a choker.

MARG 02-12-2018 02:27 AM

In one of the older posts on another forum and the DM, the noted that a large number of her chokers have been inherited. Lucky, lucky lady. Perhaps she is the only one that really enjoys wearing them. I laughed when I was reading all the ins and outs of how Camilla came to possess the glorious aquamarine clasp choker with "those in the know" insisting it was a gift from Charles? Turned out it was a bequest from the Shand side of the family and had been in her possession for quite some time.

I think the aqua and the other amethyst clasp chokers have been with her for a long time (certainly from early in her marriage to APB), and are quite possibly inheritances with Shand / Cubitt origins. So I don't believe they have anything to do with Charles. The rest have all been slowly acquired since marrying Charles.

Princess Larisa 02-12-2018 02:05 PM

These posts have inspired me to check all Camilla’s chokers and try to collect them in one place. By my count she has worn 10 different pearl chokers and several other pearl necklaces. I really wish she would bring back some of her rarely worn ones and not keep using the same two diamond ones all the time.

MARG 02-12-2018 05:46 PM

Camilla's awesome Pink Topaz and Diamond pearl choker evidently started as a large brooch which Charles had converted into long five-strand pearl necklace which was later shortened to a choker.

Original circa 1830's:

https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OQlgaips7.../s320/_pt2.jpg

First Version: Meh Necklace

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...I30dGd7hvRtlmw

Second Version: Glorious, marvellous, magnificent, fantastic Choker. And let's not forget the matching earrings.

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...ugNqtYuLZHZAfg

So at a casual glance I would imagine there are at least enough pearls left over for single strand pearl necklace so keep your eyes peeled because those particular pearls are lucious!

I doubt it. Most of her chokers have provenance and I think Charles memories of his beloved grandmother are inextricably intertwined with her jewellery.

One of my favourite pearl necklaces that Camilla wears was one that belonged to QEQM. The clasp is the epitome of elegance and is one very nice diamond~

MARG 05-09-2018 06:35 PM

And there she is showing she knows how to wear jewellery! One pair of earrings and I believe a diamond bracelet has slid up her arm, all finished nicely with her wedding and stunning engagement rings.

I would be willing to bet that she had that dress specifically made to wear with her Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra diamond earrings. They really are quite amazing and not too many women can wear earrings that hang quite that low.

Good humoured, slightly quizzical, and extremely elegant - it seems [to me] to sum HRH up...

I agree, wyevale. She is the most human of the royals, and always make Charles seem more human and accessible, too.

And doesn't she look lovely in that dress with those jewels.

EllieCat 05-09-2018 09:15 PM

she looks lovely in the white dresses in France and Greece, and doesn't she know how to rock a choker; I love how she wears her jewellery.

Oh my, is that yet another NEW string of pearls? They are superb, simply luscious in fact. The colour is glorious, the lustre magical and the size . . . those pearls are the same size as the pearls on her diamond and pearl drop earrings,

Now those pearls really are pearls I'd love to clutch . . . and run! :whistling:

South sea pearls, perhaps? Lovely, whatever they are.

They really are beautiful!

Princess Larisa 05-11-2018 09:14 PM

They’re not new, but the pearls sure are beautiful. I wish she would switch her pearl necklaces and chokers more. She’s got over a dozen different ones, but wears the same two necklaces all the time back home.

They are not new, she has had them for 7-8 years. You are right though, that is one serious pearl necklace. I think she "upgraded" to this string of pearls around the time she got the larger of the 2 diamond chokers.

Which I also love. My original inclination extends to that,m my favourite choker too.:)

I love this plum type colour on Camille, it really looks wonderful on her. (Also love the matching earring and the stone on her signature pearl choker.) Do you think the gems are amethyst? (it looks a little too red for standard amethyst to me.) Perhaps spinel or sapphire? (they can come in that colour).

I envy Camille's ability to wear chokers. She has such a long, graceful neck that they look wonderful on her.

I think white pearls would have looked better, given the outfit.

Countessmeout 06-14-2018 12:43 AM

No. Pearly white pearls wouldn't work well with this look. Nothing she is wearing is snow white. The south sea pearls work well with the darker details of the look, and against the lighter coat.

:previous: Camilla's Everyday Pearl Pendant Earrings belong to her as indeed does the Pink Topaz pearl choker and earring set. They were sold as a brooch and matching earrings which, it seems, Charles had made into a choker since Camilla loves them and gave them to her as a gift.

All her other pearl chokers are her own, having been inherited, gifted to her or even purchased by her.

Its okay, sorry I was misled by the "From HM Jewel Vault" prefix. However, yes there really are people that believe that every jewel Camilla wears is owned by the Queen.

Being a royal jewel fan I clicked on a youtube video about Camilla's Jewellery and at the end was stunned to hear the statement that when Camilla dies, William will own all her jewellery. Whaat, says I, they are obviously working on the theory that Charles will have pre-deceased her, but there was something just so errmm, snide about the way it was said.

padams2359 10-28-2018 10:36 AM

I think any jewelry she had prior to the marriage should go to her children. Any jewelry she got after the marriage from Charles should stay in the private collection.

MARG 10-28-2018 09:59 PM

:previous: erm, why? Official gifts will end up in the vault but the majority of jewellery she wears day to day is her own.

Gifts from her husband, family or friends for her wedding, birthdays. anniversaries, Christmas, those she can leave to whomever she chooses and why should she not?

When Camilla married Prince Charles he did not take possession of all that was hers nor does he own anything she has acquired since then although we know he has certainly added to her jewel box.

It is lovely to see her wearing the beautiful amethyst swag necklace with its enormous centre heart-shaped stone. I think the large earrings go with it. Those would go back to the vault for no other reasons than that they are life loans. Her pearl chokers, etc. are not.
