This jewels is just perfect for the evening appearance.

Dman 02-03-2016 02:45 AM

It was just the right kind of necklace Camilla pulls off best. It wasn't those large heavy necklaces that appear to pull her neck down. It complemented her neckline gracefully.

Lovely. That said, I thought her sapphire demi - parure would have looked lovely as well.

A very good choice! Especially with the earrings. I think that I adore the earrings even more than that gorgeous necklace.

These are her "everyday" earrings she has worn for many years

MARG 02-04-2016 09:30 PM

:previous: Indeed they are. They have been to Country Fetes and Gala Banquets and everything in between. I've decided I would love to have some "everyday" earrings just like them. They may not get to a gala event but I am sure I can manage the Country Fete!

Queen Camilla 02-21-2016 01:43 AM

It looks like Camilla has acquired a new dragonfly brooch, unless previous photographs were deceptive.

In previous photographs, the dragonflies appear to be the same or nearly the same size. The stones on one of the dragonfly appears to be all diamonds.

In the recent image, the new dragonfly is smaller/larger and a different color.

The larger one appears to be the new brooch.
The smaller one is the same color as previously photographed and the color stones cover the entire body.

It appears as if the top one in the old image is the bottom one in the new image.

Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall touches down in Croatia with Prince Charles | Daily Mail Online

I noticed in the last pictures taken at the official dinner Camilla is wearing her diamond necklace she has had for many years but under it is a small diamond on a simple white gold chain which seems odd to have it clashing with her other large statement piece

Princess Larisa 03-17-2016 05:10 PM

The Duchess of Cornwall wore her large amethyst earrings in Serbia on March 17 for the evening reception:

Previous wearings

MARG 03-18-2016 03:30 AM

:previous: I like that with the colour of the suit and her beautiful earrings, she gave her whole look a little more gravitas than it would otherwise have had.

I also sniggered at the DM referring to her wearing "diamond hoops". Obviously, their duty spotter missed the whacking great gorgeous deep amethysts in the middle!

With thanks to Princess Larisa whose part post I pinched from Camilla's fashion thread:

Camilla's choice of jewellery to accent her ensemble today are three of my favourites. Her 'go to' diamond and pearl drop earrings, her four strand diamond clasp pearl choker and her gorgeous diamond moth magnificently set in platinum. Lovely, just gorgeous.

For those of you that do not know what the claddagh symbolizes, my avatar is a picture of the claddagh ring my mother bought for me in Galway. The heart symbolizes love, the hands symbolize friendship and the crown symbolizes loyalty.

Countessmeout 05-26-2016 08:53 PM

I am embarrassed to admit I knew the symbol from Buffy the Vampire slayer. Yeah I know, so cool of me :lol:

I actually learned about symbolism and ancient cultures from television. Expanded on it in college. But my mother is embarrassed when I say the inspiration for my bachelors degree is Saturday television and my Grandma's stories (she had all these great family tales from England).

Happy she wore the brooch. Think her shamrock jewelry may have been too much on this occasion (too themey).

I think symbolism is part and parcel of royal dressing, so I think it would have been odd for her to not wear her shamrock brooch. Quite like I think it is unthinkable that the Queen would go to Canada and not use her maple brooch, or not use the Wattle in Australia or the Fern in NZ.

Duc_et_Pair 05-29-2016 07:26 AM

What a beautiful dress, so muy española with these plissé layers and the colours advancing from white to yellow. Fabulous! And so befitting Granada.

Picture: Juan Carlos de Borbón escorts Camilla de Cornualles. Click on the pic to XXL and see the detailing. Note the Duchess' earrings: Alhambra motivs! Granada!

See Van Cleef & Arpels https://www.vancleefarpels.com/eu/en/.../alhambra.html

The motive is popular by royals. Princess Charlène spotted with a necklace (picture) and Queen Máxima even is spotted with two of these arch-expensive necklaces (picture). Also the late Princess Gracia: (picture).

Marty91charmed 05-29-2016 09:02 AM

I like them better on Camillia, the jewels sported by Charlene looked way too "teensy"...

Tilia C. 05-29-2016 01:02 PM

Dman 07-18-2016 08:35 AM

I think her diamond and ruby necklace should be converted to a tiara. Also, her Greville Festoon necklace should be made into a single strand necklace and used the others as bracelets. Right now, it's a necklace that really don't look good on her neck.

I love her ring. Very elegant and regal.

Do we have any idea where she got the jewelry. Of a few of them the history is known, but that about the others? Presents from her husband?

afaik the amethyst-heart necklace was wedding present from queen alexandra to the queen mother .
The Diamond Serpent Necklace was a present from prince charle before they married i think , the three-stranded pearl necklace with aquamarine came from her part of the family she wore it years before marrying charles , the five-stranded pearl necklace with a massive pink topaz and diamond clasp was a present from charles he bought it with a coordinated earrings from a auction , the rubies and emerald necklaces are believed to be middle eastern presents , the sapphire pendant is believed to be from the queen mother collection , the demi-parure of clustered diamonds with the necklace and earrings are said to came from a tiara that belonged to her grandmother that charles bought and used the diamonds from it to create this demi parure .

It's the Greville tiara she is wearing, her usual tiara.

The necklace is in fact two sets of collars. The close up of the clasps would be the older set. You know that as the older/longer set is only two rows. The other three rows are a separate piece, and were created later. Though they are more commonly worn together, giving the allusion they are one collar, they aren't.

Good to see the emeralds emerge again, it had been a long time.

Countessmeout 02-03-2017 01:36 AM

I love her emeralds. Camilla rocks the big jewels, tiaras and necklaces. Even if old and not as fashionable as Sophie and Kate, when it comes to jewels she is the most exciting. She does justice to the queen's big bling like none other.

But the emeralds are her private pieces. Boy do the middle eastern royals gift them some incredible bling. Diana got sapphires , Camilla emeralds. Her ruby collars are also from Saudi Arabia. The queen got diamonds.

Just not a fan of that setting at all...not my style.

I want to like them...but they don't appeal to me.

The Cubitt Tiara | The Court Jeweller

A beautiful and elegant tiara. Its simply stunning.

Countessmeout 02-04-2017 02:45 AM

Beautiful tiara. Not very often a commoner bride brings a tiara in.

Seems odd seeing her in such a small tiara though. She rocks the big ones.

I'm not wild about the design of that tiara, though the stones are quite nice. I dont like the way the center portion sticks way up by itself.

I'm almost positive the emeralds and rubies are official gifts from Saudis. They are Camilla's to use but officially belong to the Crown.

The same for the jewels given to Sophie Wessex by Bahrain.

The commoner bride's grandmother was King Edward VII's mistress. Lots of perks. Diana was a commoner, although, an aristocrat, she had her own tiara, too.

Countessmeout 02-04-2017 11:09 PM

Diana was an aristocrat, while not Royal, certainly not in the commoner ranks. She didn't have her own tiara. The spencer tiara belongs to the wife of earl spencer. Or the daughters of the earl can borrow it.

Camilla may come from the gentry, but she is a commoner. She has some aristocratic blood but far back and minor.

Anyone who is not The Queen or the holder of a substantive peerage is a commoner.

Nobility does not extend to the wife or children of a peer. As posh as Diana was, she was still a commoner by the British definition

The British definition means that the twin brother of a Peer, born 10 minutes later, from exactly the same parents, having the same DNA, is a "commoner", is most remarkable.

In most continental systems of nobility Diana would have been seen as a "Hochgeboren" (Highborn) and this prestigious noble lady.

I always understood that Diana was Noble...not a commoner.

'Commoner' comes from the ability to vote in elections for, and sit in, the House of Commons.

It's not a pejorative. Prior to 1999, hereditary peers had been constitutionally disqualified from being electors to, or members of, the House of Commons.

Hereditary peers had always sat in the House of Lords.

The term doesn't mean as much today as hereditary peers can also now sit in the Commons.

For me Diana is every inch a noble, but in the British system anyone who is no Peer, is a commoner, it seems. Look at the Queen's 4th Prime Minister, Sir Alexander Douglas-Home, 14th Earl of Home. He had to give up his peerage to be able to sit in the House of Commons (what is in a name...).

Upon giving up his peerage, Sir Alec, son of the 13th Earl of Home and of Lady Lilian Lambton (daughter of the 4th Earl of Durham) suddenly became a "commoner" in British eyes while he was of course very well rooted in British aristocracy.

Pranter 02-05-2017 11:54 AM

Ah so it's a legal thing too not just a designator....duh, should of realized that.
