Last night, Mary looked lovely in a summery and very pretty dress when she and Frederik participated in a dinner in the House of Industry, Copenhagen. Such a beautiful print IMO!

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...80015944_n.jpg
I repeated Roskilde's post from the previous thread.

I am not a fan of the print but both Fred (with matching tie) and Mary look good.

redtulip 06-25-2014 06:40 AM

I think the print is blah, but her hair additions are working well!

Thats not a pretty dress at all. I don't think she looked good, its way too busy print wise though the colors are nice.

Love the dress and think that Mary looks great, it is a very Mary look.

ANNIE_S 06-25-2014 07:03 AM

I think those prints are certainly too busy for my personal taste, buth Mary looks good. Those pale colours look good on her, and it is a good idea keeping the rest of the look simple since the dress has so much going on by itself.

redtulip 06-25-2014 09:09 AM

I think the dress would be beautiful if it was kept in the pattern it has on the top section. The hem section in particular messes it up, I find.

Yes the print on dress is one of those new popular runway styles that I still haven't gotten my eyes around yet. A tad busy for me but still, both Mary and Fred look charming and well turned out. As always, her make-up clean and lovely.

MaggieDenmark 06-25-2014 12:38 PM

i think this is my new favorite summerdress from mary..the colors are beautiful to marys colors..

I think the design - and especially the colors - are great - and would likely buy it myself even though I don't like the center strip. Very attractive overall. (Color coordinated tie very cute - they must use the same dressing room ;)).

Agree about the colour coordination and the dress design, both very remarkable and quite interesting! Muhler will no doubt comment on the male/tie selection question with regard to protocol but I myself am struck by the Crown Princess' decision to wear a fabric printed with what look like pictures of fruit trees in bloom. This look makes me think of the new Queen of Spain's beauteous rose dress:flowers:

HereditaryPrincess 06-25-2014 03:13 PM

The wide pattern in the middle of the dress spoils it for me. If it wasn't there, then I would've given this dress the thumbs up since I love blossom and water scenes. It looks good on Mary though.

bertie5252003 06-25-2014 05:02 PM

Really stunning colours are gorgeous and the style is just so flattering

almee 06-25-2014 05:06 PM

This is a beautiful dress, and Mary looks amazing in it. Its very flattering on her and quickly becoming a favorite for me!

I agree that the centre strip should be dispensed completely - it cut the picture off. The print is beautiful - it looks like a full painting or picture of Japan Sakura blossoms by a lake in a park.

When I first saw this I thought it was lace. But on closer inspection it appears to be a very light print. Am I seeing things? It's entirely possible. In any event, she looks lovely, and Fred looks pretty good too:flowers:

Al_bina 06-26-2014 01:20 PM

The dress is possibly made of Devoré cloth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devor%C3%A9
I liked Crown Princess Mary's ensemble.

redtulip 06-26-2014 05:03 PM

I like both dresses, but think Tanja's is better, because a darker fabric on pale skin would look better. - Mary has two many hair additions at the back, and it looks out of proportion.

I like the grey in Fred's hair as he's aging.

udyusa 06-27-2014 12:49 PM

I think Mary looks lovely and feminine in her white dress. Love her hair. She and Fred make such a handsome pair.. so obviously happy.

It's a beautiful lace dress. A feminine look and she and husband looks adorable. Maybe a hairdo? On the other hand, she often has, so the hair down for a change is nice. I like these delicate pastel colors to her.

Reminds me of this dress from Australia last year which I also was very fond of:

I like them all except the blouse and skirt ensemble. Looks too much like something I might throw on for a quick dash to the market. The skirt is interesting - the top is fine - just not together. :flowers:

She looks lovely. It also helps that she has a brilliant figure being the young mother of 4 children. I admire her for being such a good example to others. Not easy when having to give up own country and language. Loving husband and in-laws made it easier. They are a happy couple/family.

I don't like the skirt. The blouse is nice.
The dresses are great

bertie5252003 06-29-2014 02:10 PM

I didn't notice that she wore white heels with the lace dress I love them.

rubies 06-29-2014 02:55 PM

I keep saying this I know but her hair is beautiful!!

Kit 06-29-2014 05:08 PM

Very pretty as always. I am not so keen on the skirt but her dresses are great and Mary looks very lovely all of them.

Emmily 06-29-2014 08:03 PM

I loved the skirt! Maybe a different blouse would have looked better, but I loved the colors of that piece.

SElizabeth 06-29-2014 09:34 PM

:flowers:I will take all of them for my wardrobe and then an extra peek into her closet or closets or rooms full of clothes.............she has great taste and always looks well put together when she is out even playing ball or running with all those children.......what a very busy life she has.

July 24, 2014 - Princess Mary wearing a white dress matched with nude heels attended Prince Henrik's poem reading event.

Nice dress but looks a few sizes too big. Moreover it looks a bit boring since it was not accessorised.

udyusa 07-26-2014 11:36 AM

This certainly isn't the prettiest dress Mary has worn! Everyone is very casually dressed, but this is not a flattering look. Frederik looks wonderful, however...

roseroyal 07-26-2014 11:43 AM

I like it,,but it is a bit boring. Perhaps some accessories...
I expect more from Mary somehow...

HereditaryPrincess 07-26-2014 01:41 PM

I must be in the minority because I really like this dress on Mary. It looks good on her and the colour is fresh and summery. I don't think it's too big, although it does look a little loose in the close up photo.

I like it - casual and comfortable, a no-fuss summery look. Has my vote. :flowers:

SElizabeth 07-26-2014 02:27 PM

A really cute summer dress for what she is going, I am glad to see her without all the trappings that go with everything that she usually wears. This looks comfortable and down to earth for the day..........really like a lot!

It's color coordinated, anyway. I have no issue with it.

It must have been chilly enough so that she needed a throw. Gone are the days of the 'fur wrap'. :flowers:

I agree, it doesn't match the outfit but it was a nice gesture.

The dress is nice but I am not crazy about it. I find the skirt part a bit too stiff but I guess that's because of the lace.

Frelinghighness 08-08-2014 03:24 PM

I love the dress, love the cut, the neckline, waistline emphasized, and little train. The coffee color is wonderful too and would look good ona blonde or brunette. Any I'd on the dress?

I will bet that what the prince is saying has something to do with the shining: does anyone have the text (and English translation:flowers:) of his words, pretty please:flowers:

MARG 08-08-2014 07:56 PM

I love this gown. It has such clean, uncluttered style. I am also interested to see (and love) a return to a wider belt as skinny belts only show if the wearer is as straight as a board.

Skinny belts seem to get lost when worn by women with curves and make the wearer look like a sack tied in the middle so this return to a classic look is really welcome.

The material of the gown is hard to pick as the photo of them arriving showed a flowing print but the dinner close up seemed to show a floral lace with large flowers over a dark lining. I found the metallic edging around the neck, arms and belt intriguing as it gives the gown a much needed unique lift which ensures it is not "just another lace dress".

MaggieDenmark 08-09-2014 04:48 PM

I love this dress on Mary. It's just perfect for the occasion; not too fussy and simple enough to not over-do. Love the golden braid details. The shawl is such a touch of class to remember her hosts...

Fabulous photos, MaggieD!! Love the back view which one rarely sees. It gives a whole new dimension of the dress and whole look.

Roskilde 08-10-2014 04:07 AM

Thanks for the adding pictures, MaggieD.

Mary looks beautiful to the dinner in Nuuk, but not only that, healthy and happy too, and it also means much to me when decribing someone as beautiful... that the beauty also radiates from inside.

HereditaryPrincess 08-10-2014 09:58 AM

I agree MaggieDenmark and Roskilde, Mary glowed at the official dinner in Nuuk. I love the photos of her sitting behind the candles, as I feel that they add to her glowing appearance. She is very stylish, and even manages to look elegant in clunky outdoor wear.

17 August: Crown Princess Mary wore a summery yellow dress whilst she presented the Hans Christian Anderson Award at the Odense Concert Hall in Odense, Denmark. I quite like it, although there's something off about the fitting on the top half, IMO:

I love the color, but I think the dress is a bit high waisted on Mary. It looked much better this time without the hat and gloves. The dress isn't dressy enough for that.

TRCRoyal 08-18-2014 07:04 PM

I love that it's pleated. Looks very graceful when she's sitting down.

Frelinghighness 08-18-2014 10:25 PM

It does look good while sitting but somehow doesn't look finished to me. I guess it is the waistline, and the top doesn't fit too well.

The dress is pretty and the color is great on her, yet if she had a small belt the same color it would look more finished, more put together. And perhaps a small brooch also. This way that she is wearing it, looks like a last minute thought, grab something from the closet and go....She is looking very pretty these days.

Mary looks stunning, so very elegant. Love the coat dress with large pearl collar and tight waist.
She sparks

I love this look the colour is very flattering and the neckline detail really changes it from a plain to special she looks great

Adore the color of the taffeta coat, the collar is exquisite. Love the hairstyle, Mary looks wonderful!

I agree!
Classy look!

Oh she looks utterly stunning! I also think that a floor length version would be great for the New Year Courts!

Emmily 08-26-2014 07:07 PM

This is absolutely gorgeous. The color, the style, the neckline...everything! She looks wonderful.

September 9, 2014 - Mary at an awards ceremony recycling a lovely Erdem printed dress.

Mary looks good but the dress is so-so. Its ok for daytime wear but imo not elegant enough for an evening award presentation.

MARG 09-10-2014 06:47 AM

:previous: I was trying to think what it was that bugged me and you just nailed it. The background of the print is too dark for evening wear because the lighter splashes are sort of "in you face", so to speak. Mary's face and hair fade into the dark background too. :ermm:

Great earrings! I actually think the dress is too tight, it is pulling across her whole middle section. The print is ghastly, as are the other of this brand I've seen. Looks like an old Victorian couch slipcover.

Lady Nimue 09-10-2014 09:51 AM

Excellent! Love this dress. I agree: perfect fit. :flowers: She is in shape!

casualfan 09-10-2014 10:15 AM

She looks great!! I disagree about the print - it's lovely and bright but not garish.

Also, she seems perfectly in line with the dress code for the event. Not all eveningwear has to be formal and long and grand.
