Great pics! And what a great light in there, sort of golden shimmer, and the Princess looks lovely and is really sparkling! But what about that thing she's wearing? I can't say I like it, but what is it, a coat?

Maxima looks beautiful, great and soooooo pregnant;) But then I think , is her belly not to big for 7 months pregnant ? My sister had a belly like that a week before her child was born , and he arrived two weeks to late .Are maybe it is just a big cute baby , like Amalia:)

I like the coat and dress more at the Orange Fund event than the way she wore it on Queensday. I like the big brooch, and didn't care as much for the big necklace and earrings she wore on Queensday (or at least not with that outfit).

I also like her more with her hair loose than with the big hat.

All in all beautiful.

When the RVD says that the baby will come in July, the real due date is in June. Just like Amalia, the RVD said that the baby would come begin January 2004 and she was born 7 December 2003.
The only strange thing is that Willem-Alexander and Máxima will visit the International architecture Biënnale, 26 May

HMQueenElizabethII 05-18-2005 04:32 PM

The Crown Princess looked very beautiful and elegant. Thanks lots.

liv 05-18-2005 06:05 PM

Last year I already said that Maxima will have her baby before mid-july and now I´m absolutely sure.:)

Alisa 05-18-2005 09:28 PM

It's surprising to see Maxima recycle an outfit. She doesn't do so very often. She looks lovely though.

When Maxima was pregnant with Amalia she wore an outfit in the same exact color at for the same event.

The prince and princess tell the pers that the baby will be born in July . So in July , they will get no rest because everybody wants to know , if the baby isn't born yet . So if she delivers in june , the pers will not be around always ,because they think she's only 8 months pregnant ;) . So she can spend her last days pregnant in comfort , wtihout pressure from outside . But I think it's not gonna work this time:) Because they said that Amalia would be born medio January , but she came a month earlier!! and she was a perfectly healty baby . It's also in Belgium . The first time , Mathilde would due in november , but Elisabeth was born on 25 ocotober , The second time , she would due in september , but Gabriel came on 20 augustus . And now , I wouldn't be suprised if she due in september :) Just like Maxima would due in june ...

Maxima's Sweet Gesture at Apples of Orange Awards
Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands, elegant in a soft gold coatdress fastened with a bejewelled brooch, had some sweet words for her mother-in-law at the Apples of Orange Awards at Noordeinde Palace on Thursday.

Hosting the event with Queen Beatrix, the Argentina-born royal was helping shine the spotlight on "strong women", the subject of this year's award for social programmes and activists.

"In light of tonight's theme," said the crown princess, "I believe we've found ourselves in the right place – in a palace where one of the strongest and most successful women that I've ever met works. My mother-in-law."

The queen clearly appreciated the gesture, welcoming the remark with a warm smile directed at the exhuberant expectant mum. Maxima and her husband Willem-Alexander will welcome their second child in about two months time.

agisele 05-20-2005 09:40 AM

aw. what a sweet gesture, I'm sure Queen Beatrix must be a very proud mother-in-law.

Indeed it's great to see Beatrix, Willem Alexander and Máxima together for this particular event, I think highlighting multicultural efforts/projects is more important then ever in our time. Not loving Máxima's outif, but even so - she manages to look absolutely fabulous almost every time I see her. She's really beautiful, and she's got a great warm exuberance and smile.

It is nice to see the chemistry between the Queen & her son & daughter-in-law. It looks like they all truly enjoy each others company. It's not something I really notice in some of the other royal families.

Lovely pictures.:)

Maxie 05-30-2006 06:11 PM

I'm glad you mention the skirt, Marengo. I have my doubts about that one too. Especially since the top is so glamourous (I love it!) and the fabric of the skirt is so casual, so I just don't get the combination of the two.
But I like Maxima's hair. It's so much nicer when she wears it in a bun or something like that. The Queen always looks very good in blue, but I gave up hope that she is ever going to burn these shoulder pads... :o

I agree with this completely. I think Maxima has been guided well in things she speaks out on: microfinance, assimilation of immigrants, multicultural projects -- and, as well, she has alot of natural ability in promoting these ideas. In general I think she's a sharp cookie who is going to make a very good Queen. Once in a while she gets a little erratic in her dress or hair or actions and I wonder where she is going but she always manages to rein it in and she's off onto something interesting again. For me, she is a very likeable character.

....sorry I should have added this to the above, but does anyone have pictures of her outfit today without the watermarks? Thanks in advance if you can post some!

konan 05-31-2006 05:40 AM

I like to see Maxima in stunning outfits, but I heard she went for a day shopping in Rome to buy some clothes and for me it's absolutely shocking that she uses the Royal plane on costs of the Dutch people to buy a new outfit!!!! Very very snobbish!!!

nayralorenzo 05-31-2006 05:51 AM

Yes konan, I think also that this behavour is not the best, but in all the royal houses they make things like this...even if I think is very snob.

konan 06-01-2006 04:01 PM

Maxi, you don't have to believe that she flew to Rome only for shopping. But there seriously is a discussion in the politics about the royal family using the royal plane for all their private trips. I think it's time for the royals to pay for private flights and then they can do whatever they want.

Personally I don't like the red nails Maxima is wearing at the Appetjes event.

Well, I surely agree on that one. The Royal Family shouldn't use the royal plane for flying across the globe with no purpose. They'd better go by boat...:p

Kelly 06-01-2006 04:13 PM

What are they suppose to use the royal plane for anyways? State visits? Although I don't personally think Princess Maxima or the DRF for the matter is snobby? But that is just IMO.

A nice foundation IMO, giving attention (and money) to all these small project. Blauw Bloed had a short interview with a woman from the Antilles who won a prize, she was very happy with her 'apple' as it was designed (and made?) by HM The Queen.

Funny that Maxima started her speech with thanking her mother-in-law for being allowed to use the ballroom of Palace Noordeinde.

Princess Maxima looked nice btw, she might have used some of her time in Argentina to buy some new clothes as she hasn' t been wearing many new stuff from Brussels lately (fortunately).

The apples of Orange is a an award that is handed out by the Orange fund. The Orange fund is a merger of various royal charities, among them the fund that the prince of Orange and princess Maxima received as a wedding present.

Nte that the Queen makes the awards (bronze aples) herself. Sculpting has been a hobby of her for decades.

Maxima's outfit is indeed terrible, but what else is new? Sigh.

I was looking for the thread on the Appeltjes van Oranje but can't find it,so I take a shot here.

Besides the annual Appels van Oranje Award by the Orange Fund, this year they will also look for:Crown Apples / Kroonappels on occasion of the coming Investiture.

Throughout the Kingdom, here and in the Caribbean, the Orange Fund will look for the best, the funniest and the most succesfull social initiative in three categories:

The neighbourhood
The Youngsters
and leaning a Helping Hand.

The Prize, for the annual Apples consisting of an apple statuette handmade by HM Queen Beatrix and 15.000 euro, the Kroon Appels wil consist of an equal statuette, refelecting the special occasion, plus 50.000 euro for the winning initiatives.
