Nah, I think she just needs to stop taking fashion advice from little Sverre and Ingrid.

Exactly my thoughts, she has had some lovely looks in the past but lately there has been nothing that has even come close. Also I think her hair has been looking really terrible for a while, flat and parted in the middle. Mostly she looks just sloppy and like she isn't making any effort.

I just hate her hair colour. Looks fake and plastic.

I don't like this boxy suit, especially that bow at the neck. The whole thing looks unpolished to me.

Frelinghighness 04-03-2013 06:50 PM

I like it, I lkie the color and the bow at the neck, even the boxy shape.
what I don't like is yet another jacket that is way too tight in the upper arms which you can't see that much in these pictures.

LadyFinn 04-03-2013 11:50 PM

This suit makes Mette Marit look even bigger than she really is. It would have looked better without the bow. The colour isn't the best for her at all. And she should do something to her hair, it doesn't look good.

bertie5252003 04-04-2013 01:38 AM

It is jusy all wrong it appears to be the exact copy of one of my mother's maternity suits when pregnant with me, honestly it's exactly the same.
Has she just crawled out of bed hasshe any makeup on at all it's all just too odd...IMO of course

dazzling 04-04-2013 06:56 AM

The bow with the open hair just looks too messy. She should've pulled her hair back or up.
The colour doesn't suit her.

Yes it does look like a 50s 60s maternity suit, that thought crossed my mind too, lol

soraya 04-04-2013 12:41 PM

This suit isn't bad at all but doesn't suit Mette Marit body type.
The colour is ugly and don't suit her.I don't like her hairdo too.
I don't know what happens to her lately, she doesn't seem to make any efforts in dressing.
She looked so stylish during the state visit in Asia.

Al_bina 04-04-2013 12:55 PM

I liked the style of the suit. The threaded bow made the suit look sloppy. Drab colour further aggravated the look.

julliette 04-09-2013 11:34 AM

I don't like the shoes and though I like the colour of the jacket and the all-black rest of the outfit, as whole there is something not good with it but I don't know what it is...

bertie5252003 04-09-2013 01:13 PM

Not great but better than the last few efforts on her part IMO I like the blue colour on her though but as a jacket it is too short for her and makes her appear bigger than she probably is IMO

Frelinghighness 04-09-2013 05:49 PM

Much better. Pretty color blue jacket that fits, nicely curled and colored hair, skirt too tight and too thick black tights but better.

cepe 04-09-2013 08:10 PM

There are horror stories from the fashions of late 80s and early 90s but I really miss skirt suits with straight skirts and long line jackets. If you were slim, they could enhance your shape by being fitted; if you had "issues" then they worked well to disguise them.

These short to the waist jackets do no favour to anyone apart from stick-insect models. She looks cut in half and looks way bigger than she really is.

BRing back those suits!

Absolutely agree with you. Reminds me of outfits some of my preschoolers come to school in, on the days the parents let them dress themselves. Wowzahs .

I dislike the shoes, but in all she looks good!

bertie5252003 04-18-2013 12:52 PM

The scarf could go butthe outfit itself is harmless IMO the shoes are a total nightmare on her IMO could someone throw them away!!!!!

Baroness of Books 04-18-2013 01:31 PM

I assume the scarf is there because of cold weather since it's so bulky. The suit is alright, but those shooties again make another unflattering appearance. And I dislike those thick opaque black tights. But my favorite fashion accessory is Haakon!;)

casualfan 04-18-2013 03:50 PM

The shooties don't bother me because they are blending in with the tights and aren't that noticeable.

HRHHermione 04-18-2013 03:54 PM

Not a great look, but not tragic like her last appearance.

I do wish the shooties would just go away forever.

Frelinghighness 04-18-2013 09:41 PM

Not in these pictures, but in other pictures she is busting out of the jacket, arms and back.
Time to buy some bigger sized jackets, all of the recent ones have been absolutly straining at the seams.

hyland 04-18-2013 10:13 PM

I'm not usually a fan of her booties and dark tights, but it works with this outfit. That scarf looks horrible though.

GracieGiraffe 04-18-2013 10:18 PM

I don't like the lapels on the jacket at all. The atrocity of the scarf goes without saying and the skirt is too bulging in the middle.

Um, other than that she looks great.....:flowers:

maria antonietta 04-19-2013 01:50 AM

One question: Does anybody know the brand of her scarf?

Shelo 04-19-2013 02:51 AM

With all the resources and designers at her disposal, she could look amazing every day. I really don't understand why it's so hard for many of these royal women to find a properly tailored suit.

Lumutqueen 04-30-2013 09:34 AM

That looks awful again. Today's occasion deserved something better.

Al_bina 04-30-2013 09:44 AM

Crown Princess Mette-Marit reminded me of a peasant girl attending a funfair.

Baroness of Books 04-30-2013 09:46 AM

Another big no for MM today. Just disappointing.

wyevale 04-30-2013 09:52 AM

Infinitely better than last nights atrocity, but why would anybody dress from Valentino, now the maestro has retired, and the house that bears his name is producing such horrors ?

Al_bina 04-30-2013 09:53 AM

Truth be told ... There are some nice pieces produced by the current team. However, it appears that Crown Princess Mette-Marit opts for flowery patterns.

princess gertrude 04-30-2013 09:55 AM

I would have liked the dress better if there were a sash or belt at the waist. I would have given her shape some definition.

I agree and what is in her hair?

I thought the inauguration ceremony dress looked like drapes.

Baroness of Books 04-30-2013 09:57 AM

Strands of artificial flowers.

rubies 04-30-2013 09:59 AM

These are perfect examples of just because its on a model does not mean you should wear it. MM has been a princess long enough she should know this. She should look in the mirror and say to the designer...I dont think so. It would be acceptable if she was trying to make some kind of ridiculous statement and was wearing off the rack for the money aspect...but this is Valentino...come on!

soapstar 04-30-2013 10:10 AM

It's better than what she wore last night, but it's still not a great look.

Like others have said, it seems a little shapeless and would probably have benefited from a belt or something.

casualfan 04-30-2013 10:20 AM

I don't mind the dress-it's very simple and does have a defined waist, but I wish she would have chosen a nice cream-colored hat or fascinator.

RubyPrincess168 04-30-2013 10:26 AM

Another dress that makes her look pregnant...or fat.

Jackswife 04-30-2013 11:31 AM

It seems a little (gulp)-matronly and aging for her. She's a beautiful woman no doubt about that but it would have been nice to see her in something a little lighter and appealing.

leene 04-30-2013 11:37 AM

19.000 krone what is that in euro's. Mette-Marit is a beautiful woman but this is not a good dress for her. She looks bigger than she actually is. A good example that expensive dresses don't always do a good thing for you.

PrincessofEurope 04-30-2013 11:45 AM

Not a great look on MM - she needed a more substainal fascinator rather than that net of petals. The dress is just wrong - the fabric, print, shape just dont work

19.000 kroner are about 2500 Euro. It's actually the price of the Valentino clutch

Baroness of Books 04-30-2013 11:47 AM

Too much money for an unflattering look.

Water 04-30-2013 12:17 PM

A bit better than last night but the dress would be far better in a slimmer body ! Too much pattern
on the dress !! And the head piece is just not formal and not good looking !!

I love MM style, but unfortunately, this is not working for her! This and the other gown, just look more of a night-time dress (bed time).

Frelinghighness 04-30-2013 11:32 PM

Oh no! Did she have to take down the drapes in the hotel room and whip this one up herself?
The cut of the dress only serves to accentuate the negative. And, she is proving she doesn't want to wear a hat? And doesn't have to?
Her "hippie" style is showing this outing

CrownPrincess5 04-30-2013 11:54 PM

rft 05-01-2013 03:17 AM

Out of all her dresses for this occasion, I'll go with her daytime look.

Duke of Marmalade 05-01-2013 10:47 AM

I think the dress is not bad (on a slim woman) but not on somebody as large-ish as MM. She looks ultra-matronly in this dress. As other posters already said, you just cant pick a dress & wear it because it looks good on somebody else.

And then these flower hairclips... seriously?! Did she steal them from IA because they only look good on females under the age of 10.

maria antonietta 05-01-2013 11:05 AM

Hello to all of you: I find some sentences regarding Mette-Marit very very offending, some of you are only critizing her the whole time in a type of style who is very disgusting. If you do not like her, than please do not look her. I find the majority of you are very jealous, because she received a gift from life: from a simple girl to become a princess. So please stop your criticizm and look to your bodys and brains...!!!!

You have a right to defend Crown Princess Mette-Marit, whereas TRF members have a right to criticise her fashion choices. It is a usual thing in any fashion thread. So telling TRF members what they should do can be viewed as ill-bred.

If an individual poster generally criticizes the style of Mette Marit but generally offers praise for any of the other simple girls who were offered the gift of becoming a princess, how does that equate with "jealously" for Mette-Marit's status? Just wondering.

To Albina: Of course in a fashion thread you can critize the choice of the cloth, but the art and the arguments (she is becoming fat, how disgustous, and so on) are no words to write.
You can do criticizm in another way, but I find the latest phrases that are chosen here are not more convenient for this sort of thread. I am not ill-bread, I am very polite woman and I do not have said that you should not criticize, my intension was that you have to write about her in a non-offending-way, and the most of you here are offending her a lot and the whole time. This shows me that lots of people are malcontent and use internet to offend.

To Grazie Giraffe: If an individual poster generally criticizes the style of Mette Marit but generally offers praise for any of the other simple girls who were offered the gift of becoming a princess, how does that equate with "jealously" for Mette-Marit's status? Just wondering

You most know that most women critize other women (e.g style, make-up), because the y do not like herself...if somebody writes that Haakon was the only good accesoires of her than it is logical that there is jealousy. And you have to admit that the most women are jealous and have a problem when a women is more beautiful...this is the real word, so do not hide behind some phrases.

Once again it is the fashion thread. Demands to "stop ... criticizm and look to [one's own] bodys and brains..." come across as utterly rude. There are TRF moderators, who can address the issue of "... people [who] are malcontent and use internet to offend". Cheap dramas and accusations of jealousy are for vulgar herd.

It's a Valentino coat and she also has it in blue and wore it at the Luxembourg wedding last year

I actually think the blue is far nicer and she wore in much better. The red i since but why buy to exact coats even if the fit is perfect?! She should've gone for something else or the suit version of the red coat. I don't like how she is wearing the red coat, I don't like the white showing under the red.

I also like both versions of the coat. Personally I actually prefer the red version ;). I think red really suits MM.

I also like the red version

Really don't like the red version. The white underneath gives the illusion of looking at underwear to me.

I must cast my vote for the blue coat over the red.

That bottle green paired with white was marvelous - glad she didn't do what everyone else does and go for black.

The outfit is from Chanel and she has worn it in 2004 in Thailand.
