I really like the pieces she picks out. I'm sure should could borrow any of Queen Anne-Marie's humungous jewels but she tends to pick a different style that compliments her face/body.

It seems like the greeks like to give cabachon stones for engagement rings.

apparently Pavlos gave MC a cabachon saphire and diamond ring. It seems such a European, upper crusty thing to do

Do you think Princess Tatiana borrows a lot of jewelry from either her mother in law or different jewelry stores? It seems like she wears awfully big, expensive things and I don't know if Nicolas can afford it all. A lot of the jewels seem very modern looking too, not like something that would be in the Greek family for generations.

IloveCP 01-11-2012 06:13 PM

I love sapphires but I don't like her engagement ring. It looks more like a cocktail ring. (This is the best shot I could find)

Baroness of Books 04-22-2012 10:22 AM

I like her diamond wedding band better.

Danishla 04-22-2012 12:44 PM

I agree her wedding band is more attractive, and I do love all her jewelry picks, very elegant and complement very well with her style. Does anybody know what her current engagements are? what her interests are?

Patra 04-22-2012 12:51 PM

The diamond teardrop cascade earrings are some I'd my favorite!

bertie5252003 04-22-2012 12:53 PM

Her wedding earrrings are just too gorgeous.

NoorMeansLight 04-23-2012 08:55 AM

Yes, her wedding earrings are wonderful!
Has she been given any significant heirloom by the Greek in-laws, apart from her e-ring? She usually wears flashy and contemporary pieces of jewellery, that seems to buy on her own, but what about the jewels from the royal collection? ;)

Tilia C. 06-09-2013 10:32 AM

Tatiana made me gasp when I saw her at the wedding of Madeleine & Chis. She looked like an elf, or a fairy. The antique pearl tiara just looks so beautiful on her. I’m also glad that the central pearl tip is back on after nearly two decades.

Tiara Mania 05-22-2014 10:06 AM

I've been working on my post for the tiaras worn by the Greek Royal Family. So far Princess Nikolaos has only worn the Antique Corsage Tiara.

Tatiana is wearing an unfamiliar tiara at the wedding today:

1 2

I assume the tiara is new or borrowed. It's a very lovely tiara.

RubyPrincess168 06-13-2015 09:50 AM

New tiara? It looks nice on her! If it's hers, and not borrowed, it's nice and suits her.

Tilia C. 06-13-2015 09:54 AM

Amazing! It is not what I expected. It is nice tiara, but a bit small for my taste. Probably convertable to a necklace. Hm, somehow I think that the antique corsage tiara would have looked better.

HRHAmy 06-15-2015 12:07 AM

It might be borrowed. She has great connections but if it's new it suits her and she looks gorgeous as always!

rubies 06-15-2015 06:38 PM

I agree HRHAmy. I would say borrowed.

Tilia C. 06-16-2015 05:35 AM

It's another mystery, isn't it? If more of the Greek princesses had attended, there would be an obvious reason for borrowing. But she was the only one. It's not as if the antique corsage wouldn't look good on her. Also she has worn it only once after her wedding, so it's unlikely that it overly bores her already. On the other hand there are so tiara events for them lately. Even invitations from Denmark seem to be fewer, since neither Henrik's 80th nor Margrethe's 75th birthday included tiara events for the extended family.

I wonder if this tiara is convertible and can be worn as a necklace as well? The band doesn't look flexible from afar, but who knows? If it is a necklace as well, it would make a new purchase more understandable. I for one will look out for a re-appearance as necklace, but I won't be surprised if we won't see it again.

eya 06-16-2015 05:52 AM

Is the big mystery Tilia C. But there no way to find out about that tiara? I'm so curious . Maybe is new tiara.

Tilia C. 06-16-2015 06:44 AM

Maybe a gift? Maybe a loan? It is difficult to find out. Perhaps we need a lot of patience and wait if it is worn again. But I am also curious.

HRHAmy 06-16-2015 04:33 PM

I'm surprise Queen AM hasn't let T borrow Alexia's small diamond tiara as it looks like Alexia rarely wears it or even goes on official functions anymore. Also, Theodora used to wear it but she hasn't been going to many official functions either.

Tilia C. 06-18-2015 08:51 AM

Accordind to Point de Vue Tatianas tiara is by Bulgari. Does anyone here have the edition and can tell what the text says about it?

Why would Queen Anne Marie lend it to Tatiana when the tiara belongs to Princess Alexia ?

Because Alexia no longer uses it. Whomever's in possession of the tiara now has lent it to Princess Theodora many times before, so why not lend it to your sister or daughter in law if it's not being used currently by it's owner?

Tilia C. 06-18-2015 04:09 PM

Princess Theodora has worn Princess Alexia's tiara once, and only once. That was at Madeleine's wedding, when Tatiana wore Queen Anne-Marie's antique corsage tiara. Princess Alexia did not attend the last few tiara events. But why would that mean that she will never again wear a tiara?

I'm not saying she will never wear it again but she has not worn it in a long time...so why not lend it to someone like Tatiana who is basically going to these events on behalf of the Greek Royal Family now.

Princess Alexia has not been photographed wearing it for some time, admittedly, however that does not mean she does not wear it, and certainly no reason to pass it on to her brother's wife! After all the tiara is her personal property. If it was an old family piece then I would agree with you. I wonder how King Constantine and Queen Anne Marie would feel about the idea of their valuable gift being given away as you describe?

Tilia C. 06-19-2015 09:57 AM

It is a pity that no one here seems to have the print version of Point de Vue. They seem to know if this tiara is a loan or a gift. If it was a gift it absolutely makes sense that she wanted to wear it at the first opportunity.

Again, you have misunderstood what I've said. In no way did I say Alexia should "give away" her tiara to Tatiana. I simply said she could "loan" it to Tatiana because she was not wearing it, as she has done for Theodora. Maybe they're not that close and that's why she hasn't but I think it would look great on Tatiana.

Thank you so much for the translation, Maria Olivia.:flowers:
Just a loan! That is somewhat disappointing. Also I don't really see why she would loan from a jeweller when there is a perfectly beautiful family tiara available. And I had hoped to see her wear it again as a necklace.

eya 06-19-2015 03:45 PM

That exactly Tilia C. i thinking me too. She is belong to the royal family ex of course but they have beautiful tiaras so why loan a tiara for someone italian jeweller. I cant' t understand.

Well she only has the antique corsage tiara to wear because none of the other royal family members will loan her their tiara's. Queen AM seems quite stingy with hers...she has at least 4...the ruby, the emerald and the khedive diamond and Queen Fredericka's huge diamond tiara yet she never loans them out. It seems a loan is the only way for Tatiana to wear a new one.

Tilia C. 06-20-2015 06:00 AM

So far the huge diamond tiara has only been once by Marie Chantale, Queen Anne-Marie has never worn it, although she is the Greek lady with most tiara events in Denmark. So it is more likely that this tiara is owned by Pavlos and MC.

The Khedive tiara is only loaned for weddings, which is a nice tradition, imo. And the emerald and ruby sets are reserved to the Queen, which somehow also makes sense.

Tatiana has worn the antique corsage tiara only twice: at her own wedding and at Madeleine's wedding. I wouldn't exactly call that overuse. Imo the loan would be more understandable if Theodora had also attended this wedding. Or if Tatiana had been wearing the corsage tiara at Queen Margrethe's birthday this spring (but alas, the younger Greeks were not invited). Personally, I find the antique corsage tiara very beautiful, and so I missed seeing it.

eya 06-20-2015 06:13 AM

I agree Tilia. I think is very strange she did wore the antique corsage tiara. Maybe there is something simply explanation for that and just we don't know.

fandesacs2003 06-20-2015 05:38 PM

And what about if she simply wanted to wear something different. Tatiana is not from a royal or aristocratic family. Consequently she might not feel any particular bond with the family tiaras they are just nice jewels for her. She might not be interested in the historical meaning of them. So she wanted to wear just a new one.

eya 06-21-2015 01:38 AM

Is logical Alexia or Marie-Chantal going to some tiara event and wore a tiara loan for someone italian jewler? When they are members of a royal family who have such wonderful tiaras? The same to Tatiana.

maria-olivia 06-21-2015 07:21 AM

Marie Chantal wears her daughter's Fringe tiara.

She wore once Queen Frederica tiara is this her personal tiara now ??

Queen Anne Marie seems not ready to share her royal jewels.
Theodora will wear the Khedive tiara for her future Wedding , but it is a tradition and a loan.

Duc_et_Pair 06-21-2015 07:43 AM

Maybe she has also Jewels from her grandmother, Ellinka Countess von Einsiedel? Anyway, Tatiana's own family seems well-off enough to purchase new jewels...

Probably it is a 'modern' diadem but the design is very much alike a diamond haircomb worn by Queen Máxima which has not been seen for almost 100 years but suddenly was re-discovered by Máxima. This one was once created for the young Queen Wilhelmina, around 1900... Who knows, also Tatiana's diadem is an old one, from the Bvlgari collection?

maria-olivia 06-21-2015 10:01 AM

A jeweller as Bulgari may copy old designs , he is free and does what he wants.

It is perhaps why Tatiana choose this one , but the sharp eyes of jewel forums are there....

IloveCP 05-04-2017 07:35 PM

I hope Tatiana will wear Alexia's diamond tiara someday. It is a stunning piece, it deserves to be shown more. I think the last time it was shown was on Theodora at Madeleine's wedding in 2013.

Her maternal grandmother Countess Ellinka von Einsiedel who is a descendant of the Prince Elector William II of Hesse and Prince Phillip is also a descendant of the house of hesse through his mother who was also a hesse princess but through a morganatic line .

no it means that it is official but not equal marriage if it's not official then the children of such marriage would be illegitimate but a morganatic marriage means That the children are considered legitimate for all purposes except succession rights, titles, precedence and entailed property .

Prince Philipp and Tatiana are related. Although the closest blood line comes from Philipp's father Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, and not from his mother Princess Alice von Battenberg.

Princess Tatiana's grandmother, Countess Ellinka Karin Harriet von Einsiedel (b. 1922) and Prince Philipp (b. 1921) are 5th cousins once removed, which makes Philipp and Princess Tatiana 5th cousins 3 times removed.

They are both descendants of Friedrich II, Landgraf von Hessen-Kassel (1720-1785) and Princess Mary of Great Britain (1723-1772), which is their closest mutual blood line.

Through this same line, Tatiana is 7th cousin once removed with her husband Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark.
