I'm still searching and waiting for pictures of them at the evening reception.

There's a difference among having fun with fashion, making a mockery of fashion - and using fashion as a personal tool or weapon.

Perhaps the two princesses allowed someone else to make all of their decisions in this, but I doubt they had makeup artists. Beatrice has features that could be taken advantage of (Eugenie actually manages to try and work with her own facial features - although her sense of what looks good on her body is amongst the worse I've seen in young ladies anywhere; she could look so much better with the right stylist). Beatrice could have looked pretty with the right makeup and she has lovely skin tone, not at all helped by her outfit.

They both need to work on their facial expressions, as well. I realize they want to be "natural," but almost anyone who is in the public eye learns to put their best face forward eventually. They seem plenty old enough to have learned this. Perhaps when each of them gets a beau and plans a wedding, we'll see some changes.

There were many horrible hats!

... yeah

I wonder what their parents thought when they saw their hats.

Perhaps she just wanted to have fun. Reading ulterior motives into her clothes is perhaps stretching it a bit. She looked cute and lovely. She is young and it is her cousins wedding party. I commend the York girls for not looking like they are 20 going on 40.

I bet Sarah liked them. Eugenie looked very nice in the black dress she wore to the pre-wedding dinner. It might be the best dress she has ever worn, IMHO!

I actually liked the dress Eugenie wore for the evening wedding reception, but I thought Beatrice's dress was a mess.

:previous: I agree that Eugenie's dress was nice. Quite a surprise as I rather thought that Beatrice was the one who got a better style in the meanwhile. Well, all the effort from the last months she sadly ruined with her appearances at this wedding. The purple dress simply looks like a rag on her. :nonono:

These photos were from the pre-wedding gala. Beatrice's gown is by Sarah Gilbert. I quite like a lot of her designs.

The evening reception dresses were fun too. I'm not a fan of the bottom half of Beatrice's dress, but the top was lovely.

Yes- because the above pics are not the evening reception but the prewedding

tgrmilk 05-01-2011 01:49 PM

Yeah, Eugenie's dress looks good.
Beatrice's... hrm... well, not so much :P

Yeah :P Apparently, the photos were from there... sorry :P

These girls can't dress to save their lives.
I don't like the dress Beatrice wore at the evening reception. She's had three misses for me: the pre wedding reception, the ceremony and the evening reception. She didn't look good at either event. She should fire her stylist.

princess carmen 05-01-2011 03:39 PM

Beatrice's dress at the evening reception looks like a Marchessa and she seems to have tucked the back of it in. Which is why it looks like that there is a picture of it on Net a Porter.

glassary 05-01-2011 04:25 PM

Does anyone know of a pic of Bea going to the reception? The pic of her leaving in the trainers/sneakers appears like the back end of the dress is tucked up in the waistband. I'm hoping that isn't the case!

Also here is a fun video from ABC News in the US. It aired in the US on the wedding recap show. The first 2 minutes mention hats at the wedding and how Cynthia McFadden (host) met Bea at the Philip Traceys.

I wish the girls would stop wearing these over-the-top hats at wedding ceremonies. They would be more suitable for Ascot (actually perfect for Ascot!) but not for a royal wedding.

That video was fun. Thanks for posting the link. I love his hats.

PrincessKaimi 05-01-2011 08:46 PM

I agree, that hats were Ascot and Not Wedding (but I cannot fault the young ladies for making this mistake - stylist/designer/friends/advisors are to blame here).

These young women have to make a bewildering number of fashion decisions (especially recently). Someone needs to help them more (or they are churlish and refuse all offers of advice - an impression that will take more fashion mishaps for me to buy into).

I think (I hope) they want to look like fashionistas, but they really need to look around at what's going on, worldwide, in fashion and work with the bodies and faces they actually have - runway fashion is never going to look good on them. But it can be modified (Eugenie seems to be getting this and is pulling ahead of her sister, style-wise - which, if they are noticing it, must be a source of tension).

However, if Eugenie's dress was actually tucked up into the waistband and she wore sneakers home, we can guess that that particular dress struck her "party mood" button.

The amount that some have estimated that these two young women are spending on clothes is rather astonishing too, and the clothes seem to scream "I cost money!" and "My wearer wants attention!", maybe not because of how they are styled - but that's the response one has when one learns who the designers are and that they are one-offs.

The skirt is tucked in it looks like she was dancing and the dress got in the way. Net a porter has a picture of the gown I haven't found any of her in the full dress.

I loved both evening dresses of Beatrice, although there's no good picture of the purple one.
Her outfit at the wedding, inclusive hat, ... I don't have words for that ;)

Sometimes simplicity is the best choice...they should follow that rule and see the results!
