It was an amazing tour! It was amazing on Canada Day seeing the Queen and Prince Philip sitting outside on what must have been at least a warm day.

1970 Royal Tour of Canada

During the recent royal tour, I heard a story of how the Queen and her family visited a farm in Manitoba during the 1970 tour. The royal train stopped, they disembarked and went by car to visit with a farmer and his family with Charles and Anne going horseback riding.
I'd never heard of a 1970 tour and can't find much information about it so if anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it.

1970 Tour

I have a book of all Canadian Royal Visits.
1970 - July - Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Anne - Manitoba, Northwest Territories. Queen attends centennial celebrations of Manitoba's entry into Confederation......

I've uploaded a few pictures I took of HM in Toronto here. (Until the last day I thought my camera was cursed.)

That's a beautiful picture, shows her two ladies very nicely as well.
I have a special album with just pictures our family has taken of various royals over the years.

Yes, it's a beautiful picture. And the RCMP officer is wearing scarlet instead of that hideous orangey-red that so many of them have now.:flowers:

BEAUTIFUL PHOTO!

Were you standing on the walkabout route as HM and HRH were leaving and walking towards the motorcade on University Ave?

Although the title of "The Crumpets Take Manhattan" seems a tad disrespectful, the upshot of ts skit from Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" is that the US would very much like to have The Queen back for ourselves....and are willing to pony up for it.

I love HM, and found it fun.

No, I think was in the area to the North of you (judging by your pictures). She walked around both sides of the enclosed area, which was not nearly as full as it could have been, as it was closed off at around 9:30 or 10:00 (shame...). The pictures start near the East end of the driveway and end near the press platform.

Canadians honoured by the Queen - The Globe and Mail

The crowds who waited hours to catch a glimpse of the Queen during her recent royal tour were left with memories of a wave, a smile, or perhaps even a handshake from Her Majesty. A select few, however, were left with something a little more permanent.

During the tour, 12 Canadians were quietly appointed to the Royal Victorian Order, a recognition for providing personal service either to the Queen or to the Royal Family. Many of this new crop of recipients are people who worked directly on co-ordinating the Queen’s tour, including security and communication officials.

On September 20, the CBC will be airing a 3-D (!) documentary commemorating the Royal Visit. It's fantastic the CBC, Buckingham Palace, and Canada Post have worked together to pioneer something like this for Canada:

CBC News - Television - 3-D Queen documentary coming on CBC-TV

Click on the Video option for a 4:30 segment.

3-D ?! I guess you have to buy a pair of those funny glasses to watch it?
Too bad it's not being shown in the USA.

Canada Post will be distributing free 3D glasses.
