I love her hair that length, and that is a delicate set but nice-sized stones.

Daria_S 03-03-2012 12:36 AM

That is a gorgeous set.

I think her engagement ring is boring, plain and nothing special.

Baroness of Books 03-11-2012 08:57 PM

Here's another view of it. That's an emerald-cut diamond with emerald-cut rubies on the side. The problem is that the stones are all the same shape and create a boxy look, especially since they're all almost the same height. Perhaps if the rubies were smaller and a different shape, it would have a prettier effect. But I do love that diamond.

Another pretty ring. I like the color of the diamond.

Nice Simple Diamond & Rubies Ring , Thanx Baroness of Books :flowers:

agami.pearl 03-11-2012 09:35 PM

I'm not a fan mostly because I don't like emerald-cut stones, they don't shine like others. I agree about the size of rubies, at some views seem to be to big compared to diamond and whole ring looks not proportional. But whole concept is nice, Denmark princes like flags inspirations.

Also the choice so rubies in her engagement ring work with her stand by ruby tiara, earrings, necklace-

Its always seemed so small to me. I like a big diamond...........hehe

There is an article in Billed Bladet #11, 2012
Written by Dorte Quist.

About a number of the jewels and tiaras worn by European royals.
One of the items mentioned is the ring Mary wore on her index finger at a gala evening in Dolton House in Australia 2011.
The large ring consisted of three rubies and diamonds and it had not been seen before.
The article speculates whether this is a ring Mary has had made for the Ruby Parure, since there is (was) no ring for this set. The rubies in the ring has roughly the same size as the rubies in the wristband that is a part of the Ruby Parure.
- And Mary has told that she has made some modifications to the Ruby Parure.

Mary's engagement ring is also mentioned in the article. You probably know the details but I'll repeat them anyway:
It was made in Brazil on consists of two rubies with a diamond in the middle. The gold is from Greenland.
Mary is always seen wearing her engagement rings as well as her wedding ring, with 24 square diamonds.

I too am very curious about this triple ruby ring. The rubies are quite a large size. Would love to know its provenance. And now Mary seems to be wearing a new pair of Amethyst earrings worn on the 16 th March. Possibly a 40th bday gift.

Well, the engagement ring represent to colours of the Danish flag.

I love Mary's engagement. The diamond & ruby combo work nicely.

suztav 03-17-2012 11:53 AM

Although I love just about everything Mary wears, I must admit that I think the the stones in the engagement ring look a bit small or tight on her fingers. Perhaps it's the setting?

I quite like this ring, but I wouldn't want to receive it as an engagement ring. Nope!

I'm on the same page as you. It's a lovely ring, but I won't like it for myself.

Anybody who have information or pictures of the brooch/devant-de-corsage Mary wore with the brown dress, at the galla dinner with Charles and Camilla...

I think it was just part of the decoration of the dress; not really jewels.

agami.pearl 03-29-2012 09:27 AM

It's dress element not real jewelery.
