I love to see photos of National Day in Luxembourg. Are there any military photos? IE-photos of the Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duke in Military Uniform? Please post if so!

I found some on yahoo. But they're in the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Plus, I'm not quite sure how to post them.

Goto the photo that you have found online:

Right click the photo until you see a grey box with a list, go down to the last one "properties" and click on it. It will show a larger box with a location address starting with HTTP:// - copy (ctrl C) and paste it (ctrl V) into the https:// button at the top of this box that you are writing your message in.

You can also use the IMG button and we can come in a fix the photos making them links for you. I would love to see them. If they are on your hard drive, you can email them to me, I can post them on my photos archive and link them to the site to share as well.

It is up to you. I would be great to see them.

Thank You. Chanel

This is probably a really stupid question...but can anyone tell me what exactly is National Day? Is it like the 4th of July for the U.S?

Its kind of like that. Its spread over a three day period. There are fireworks and stuff like that on one of the days. Another day there is a service at Notre Dame cathedral.

How come the date for national day hasn't been changed?

hillary_nugent 10-23-2004 09:17 AM

They've forgotten? hahahhahaha

gaggleofcrazypeople 10-23-2004 05:12 PM

I doubt that one...it seems kind of odd if you ask me.

Josefine 12-30-2004 10:25 AM

what usally happens on this day
are there several events they attend

gaggleofcrazypeople 12-30-2004 11:33 PM

It spans about three days. There are a couple of parades. There are fireworks. Vendors open up shops in little booths. There is also some sort of church cerimony. But it is not religous. It was GDess Charlotte's birthday.

hillary_nugent 12-30-2004 11:36 PM

SO have they changed it to Grand Duke Henri's birthday? ^__^

No, it is still the 23.06 and it will be like this for many years. The birthday of the Grand Duke is the 16.04!;)

gaggleofcrazypeople 12-31-2004 11:22 PM

I doubt they will change it.

They've began celebrating National Day already with a tiara event!

Thanks to Marianne at the GREMB for the pictures [courtesy Seegerpress]. Guillaume and Henri look great, Maria-Teresa looks nice, wish she'd lose that white ruffle around her neck, but whatever.

Also, if anyone reads German, here's a link to Wort.lu's article on the Nationalfeiertag.
