Queen Beatrix and her sister Princess Margriet of the Netherlands are going to celebrate their birthdays together on February 1st. :flowers:
Queen Beatrix will turn 70, Princess Margriet will turn 65. They are going to celebrate their birthday at the Koninklijk Theater Carré (Royal Theater Carré) in Amsterdam. |

Looking forward to the occasion nonetheless. |
Will foreign royals be attending?
I do hope so! |
HRH Princess Margriet and Prof.mr.Pieter van Vollenhoven and their family,Family and friends will attend a special performance by the Introdans ballet company offered to the Princess on occasion of her 65th birthday.HRH is Patron of the ballet company for many years,
and the combined celebration of HM 70th,and HRH 65th just wouldn't do for Introdans,so they organised something very special to honour her on february 19th,Orpheus Theater,Apeldoorn. Besides family and friends, the Princess has also invited representatives of the many organisations of which she is either Patron or otherwise involved,as well as many volunteers of,fe,The Red Cross and several organisations within Apeldoorn, the city of which Pieter and Margriet are honorary-citizens.A wonderfull gesture!:flowers: Het Koninklijk Huis |
On January 18th the NOS will show a television portrait of Princess Margriet on the occassion of her 65th birthday. The princess says she thought her years at Kees Boeke´s school: We didn´t learn anything, all very creative, no discipline. I was glad when I was allowed to leave that school. After lunch we had to lay down on blankets of horsehairs and listen to Bach, that was obligatory.
She also says that she has no problems standing in the Queens shadow, she never liked the limelight that much. Picture Courtesy to GDP/royalblog by H. Jacobs. |
The website of the royal house opened a special page on the 65th birthday of Princess Margriet, which can be found here. You can congratulate the Princess by sending a message on this page.
Some old and some new pictures here. And the special broadcast of the NOS can be seen from tomorrow on Uitzendinggemist.nl ---- News programme NOVA had some former student of the school of Kees Boeke, they disagree with Princess Margriets vision of the school and they said they had a good time there. |
Ofcourse they had a good time, lazying around, not having to do anything unless you feel like it,no discipline, just messing around, and they probably still do....
A very Happy one to HRH! |

Guestlist for tonight, at the theatre in Apeldoorn:
Quote:
--- WA and Maxima are said to be in Argentina at the moment, so that explains their absense. A pity Princesses Irene and Christina weren´t able to attend, I suppose they are both abroad. Hopefully they will be there in February. I saw Prince Jaime on friday on the central station of Amsterdam (seriously, carrying a bag of Albert Heijn supermarkets), but aparently he couldn´t make it to Apeldoorn either. |

The birthday girl looks very good IMO, much younger than her actual age. A nice gesture by HM The Queen to come out of the bus while walking hand in hand with her sister and escorting Margriet and Pieter. A nice gesture of appreciation!
The guy of Blauw Bloed was getting on my nerves btw. Asking ´how did you congratulate your mother?´ to two princes. The princes both replied that they wished her a happy birthday, how else can you congratulate someone? Princess Mabel looked rather nice tonight IMO. --- Here a short article of Dutchnews.nl: Quote:

The only thing I say about the new Portraits is: They are GORGEOUS! :flowers:
I love them! The Gala-Portrait is a true winner! Something very special and unusual. What a great contrast of light and shadows, blue and gold. Impressive. The gold-blue stage looks great. Bea's dress definitely does NOT belong to my faves.. but it perfectly matches the golden stairs. I also love the two formal non-Gala-portraits. I never noticed that Beatrix has really deep blue eyes. Really great photos! |

Happy birthday to Queen Juliana and her sister Margriet. Many happy returns.
|
My judgement ;)
Queen Trix: She looked great. Cream-colors always suit her alot! Margriet: haha, she wore the same jacket Mathilde wore for the New Year's reception. Another Natan-Fan! This starts to scare me! Anyway, she looked great, too! Maxima: I hate that golden suit. She looked like she wanted to celebrate carnival. But: I love her hair and jewels! This golden hairpin looked great! Laurentien: She looked better then she usually does during such events! A rather decent outfit. she looked fine. Mabel: no comment. Aimee: Winner! She looked super-elegant! Annette looked radiant! Marilene recycled this ugly stockings. urghh. |
Loving the Queen's fabulous outfit. That collar is VERY flattering and the fur on the cuffs I adore. Well done Ma'am.
|
I love Mabel dress!
|
My high points:
Margriet - always looks lovely, and the jacket was beautiful. Skirt very pretty but a little poofy Laurentien - great dress! I never thought I would say this but, this is my favorite outfit of the event Annette - very pretty outfit, and a lovely smile Aimee - v elegant, but I think she needed a black jacket/shawl something to tie in the black stockings and necklace. Low points: Maxima - I hate this suit - so shiny, unflattering color, and makes her look blocky on top. Lovely smile (as always), and good hair, makeup Mabel - pretty fun skirt, but not very special event-ish, esp in cotton and paired with a cotton shirt. Her hair looked really nice Marilene - her stockings. Nice outfit otherwise, but those stockings ruined it for me. Beatrix - nice outfit but ruined with that big beige shawl. |

happy birthday to her majesty and princess magriet! may they have two lovely birthdays.
yes, indeed... those official portraits are great! extremely unusual as well in my opinion. who took the pictures? PPE agency has a full gallery of pictures of the festivities: follow this link PPE Agency my veredict: i always love to see the dutch royals. the princesses are just delightful yet so sophisticated and elegant. they make such a nice mix between all of them that it is a pleasure to see them all together in this sort of gatherings. my favourites: magriet, laurentien and mabel. laurentien looks adorable for a lady of her age, she is just wonderful. laurentien... gorgeous dress and fits her like a glove! and mabel... what can i say? doesn't her gorgeous skirt just eclipse anything else? REALLY beautiful. i'm not sure about maxima. her suit is obviously fitting and perfectly cut and well-done and the cut is so elegant but... gold? not her best colour imo. aimee, who always dazzles me, didn't really show all her charme this time, although she looks beautiful anyway. i also loved marilene's blouse + jacket combo. |
High points:
Laurentien, Maxima (the pants seem a bit too tight, but the colour is very trendy and the jacket suits her perfectly), Aimee Low points: Marilene (she needs to seriously stop wearing those awful Pauw outfits, it makes her look old and skinny) |
I spent several minutes trying to come up with nice things to say about the outfits... Well...I don't have much to say...
IMHO, the worst outfit was Maxima's: too shiny and too tight. She still looked beautiful but it wasn't because of her wardrobe choice. The overall best looking lady was Aimee: simple and elegant (proving that sometimes less is more). :flowers: One last thing, I liked very much Friso's choice - it seems he tried to match his suit with his wife's outfit so he picked a golden/yellow (brownish?) tie. Maybe it's just me.. Fashion aside, they all looked very happy and enjoying themselves! |
Maxima looked absolutely striking tonight. 'Just a beautiful outfit for a wonderful family occasion. Even Laurentien looked good ... she usually looks eccentric. Mabel, on the other hand, ... oh well, whaddya goin' do?!

About the birthday: NOVA yesterday broadcasted a party at the Museum of the Tropics in Amsterdam, for militairy people and other guests. I was surprised to see that Amsterdam actually has a gouvernor (I wonder what he does), but he made a nice toast to HM. And a lady read the message the militairy staff sent to HM and the reply of HM the Queen to that message. Thomas Lepeltak (former society journalist) attended the party too, he looked somewhat drunk IMO. Anyway, he was later interviewed by Clairy Polak in the NOVA studio. He made a big issue about the fact that none of the princes married a noble woman (Clairy looked utterly surprised - too left leaning to imagine that people might actually still feel this way maybe?) and he claimed there was a sort of cold war between the Queen/RF and the Dutch nobility going on since the princes became of mariagable age. Apparently the court always refused any invitation by the nobles for the princes to attend balls, parties and such. Lepeltak also claimed he spoke to the late Bischopf van Heemskerk (head of the stable department?) and that BvH told him that Maxima has 3 times the intelligence of the crownprince. And he was afraid 'that she would get it in her head that she would actually reign' , and he put his hand in front of his eyes. About the party: tomorrow it will be broadcasted on the NOS. I have seen some short clips in news editions, and it seemed a nice atmosphere. Many well known dutch people attended like Mies Bouwman, Adriaan van Dis, Erika Terpstra and Paul van Vliet. -- Clotheswize I liked the outfit of Mabel (I am in a minority here probably), Laurentien keeps looking better and better too. The two borthday girls looked good as did Princess Irene. Maxima's golden outfit was rather horrid and Marilene's eternal Maison Pauw clothes......sigh! A pity the children of princess Christina didn't attend btw. |

The jacket Princess Margriet wore has the same pattern that Princess Mathilde wore to the New Year's Reception, yes? It looks great worn both ways.
|
Beatrix & Margriet look very happy, as birthday girls should! Best dressed is Aimée, proving less is more. Maxima's outfit is not the best she has ever looked, but at least her hair is nice.

https://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Feb2008/08020135.jpg Mabel with Friso, not know what to think of Mabels skirt, it is a bit too wide imo. But she is always surprising. https://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Feb2008/08020150.jpg Maxima with Willem Alexander, Whoops girl, your trousers are to tiny, we don't want to see what you are showing us! yikes. typical for her.:bang: https://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Feb2008/08020165.jpg the Queen and her sister Margriet, the queen looks very beautiful, margriet is ok, but i don't like the skirt, it is like Mabels to wide imo. https://www.ppe-agency.com/500px/Feb2008/08020131.jpg |
wow wow Queen Beatrix is elegant dress and his sister Margriet is see looks dress!!! Royal family celebrated Queen Beatrixs 70th birthday and big royal family!!!! Queen Beatrix is young and 70!!!
|
 I'm shocked- of the Queen's three daughters-in-law, I think that Laurentien looks the best! Very high fashion.
I'd like Máxima's outfit if the pants' seeming wasn't so high....:ermm: The top and jacked look great. |
I think the best dressed was Aimee - stunning!
And...the worst dressed yet again was...Mabel. Do you think she dresses badly on purpose? Does anyone know what the Dutch press think of her dress? |
Quote:
I liked the outfits of Bea and Margriet. So sisterlike. Nice! |
I just saw Blauw Bloed, Mabel and Friso walked away from the theatre (instead of being driven away by car) and when the reporter asked what they were doing she said 'Going into the city' ... in that dress (must have been terribly cold).
|
Maxima's pants are so shiny, i'll bet nothing's going to cling to it. everything's going to slip!

You are right, royaltyforever, I can't imagine seeing this one another princess .. |
I think Mabel and Anita 's summer dress can be very cold in this season. Did they want to be in the limelight? I don't understand why the women wear summer outfits in cold, chilly, windy winter! Aimee 's dress looked so old-fashioned and cheap.

My God.....Laurentien looking decent. I never thought I'd see the day. Cute shoes.
Mabel: The skirt would have been cuter with a lighter-colored top and she needs to brush her hair. It seems like every photo I see of her, her hair looks like a rat's nest. No matter how busy a woman gets in life, she should still have time to run a brush through her hair. Maxima: Ummmm, is she auditioning for the role of Oscar statuette? Those gold pants belong in a disco, not on her. And they are waaaaaay too tight. I shouldn't know that much about her anatomy, Crown Princess or not. |
Idon't think that Maximas outfit is all that tight, and I don't think that particular picture is showing that much anatomy as you put it. I think that it might just be the reflection of the fabric. At least I hope so. In some of the other pictures the outfit looks quite nice.
