State Visit from Jordan to The Netherlands: October 30-November 2, 2006

The King and Queen of Jordan will visit The Netherlands from the 30th of October to the 2nd of November this year, according to information from the GREMB. The visit was planned to take place earlier but was cancelled due to the terrorist attacks in Amman.

I will love to see Maxima and Rania together!

Willem-Alexander and Máxima will not be there. The will make an official Visi to Australia from 23.10. - 30.10 and to New Zealand from 31.10. - 04.11.

Also on the first date last year she would have not been present as at that time she made an Visit to Argentinia.

Bad planning.

niki 09-26-2006 03:25 PM

I hope that's not intentional.

I really like Max and Alex and was looking forward to seeing them with the Jordanian royal couple. :( Ohhh too bad.

royalgertjan 09-26-2006 03:31 PM

Marengo 09-26-2006 06:12 PM

I live in Netherlands en I can tell you that nobody on the Dutch TV talk about this statevisit.
But I'm so exited to know that King Abdoullah and Queen Rania will be here in Netherlands "near me". I wish to see them Monday At the schiphol airoport live on TV.

It's too bad to don't see Queen Rania With Crown Princess Maxima on this statevisit.

The issue from October 28 of the Dutch magazine Elsevier includes an interview with Qrania (p. 50).

https://www.elsevier.nl/magazine/deze...505/index.html

Can you find out what she is saying there, Joumana? My knowledge of this language is very limited.

Here is the article:

And here is the translation:

Queen Rania of Jordan: I want to become own choices.

Next week king Abdoullah II and queen Rania of Jordan in the Netherlands expected for a three daily state visit.

In an exclusive interview with Elsevier speaks the young queen Rania among many over her role in the Jordaanse society, Arabs and the West, and Muslims in the Netherlands. That recently must self more exert to integrate, finds she: 'Our belief oblige us the society in which we live to understand.'

From Petra:

Amsterdam, the Hague, Oct. 28 (Petra) – The Dutch circles welcomed the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to the Kingdom of Holland this week and the expected results of this visit which would contribute to further promoting relations between the two countries...
https://www.petra.gov.jo/nepras/2006/Oct/28/24000.htm

And Queen Rania??? :unhappy: I hope to see her on Monday...

Veram98 10-29-2006 03:54 AM

At a state visit (it is not a simple official visit just for political talks) the presence of the queen is almost a must (if she is not stopped by her broken ankle).

Obviously she will be with him if you believe the Dutch press:

https://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/5..._Lelystad.html

The article says that King Abdullah and Queen Rania will arrive at Schipol airport on Monday and will be welcomed by Queen Beatrix (called a “good friend“ of the royal couple) and the Dutch foreign minister. After the official welcome ceremony at the Noordeinde palace they will meet the speakers of the two houses of the Dutch parliament. The king will later this day have talks with important business people of the Netherlands. This night Queen Beatrix will invite the Jordanian royal couple to a state banquet. The next day they will visit Amsterdam and the king gives a speech in the town hall there. Premier minister Balkenende receives then the Jordanian guests for the lunch in the knight room in The Hague, later on the king and queen visit the International Court of Justice. At the last day of the visit the guests will be in the province Flevoland visiting among others the National laboratory of air and space travel and the dockyard Bataviawerf in Leystad where Queen Rania will „lend the last hand“ to the reconstructed historical flagship of Michiel de Ruyter.

is this:

Queen Rania is inded with King Abdullah we saw pics of them leaving the airport, she was wearing a simple pair of jeans and a beigh shirt and holding a jacket in her hand, didn't see any crutches.
it also says that Prince Hamzah and his wife are with them.

Joumana 10-30-2006 02:01 PM

It was to bad to don't broadcasting live the arrival of the King and The Queen on the Dutch TV. Also I don't feel that de dutch media are interessed in the evenement.

I think that the daughters of Prince Hassan are also in Netherlands because I saw the husband of princess soumaya on one of the pictures.

amina1 10-30-2006 02:01 PM

QRania has been always skinny, we just got used in seeing her with formal clothes, suits and jackets, so it doesn't show that much, but it does when she wears a light top or a blouse like the one she wore in the airport when leaving Jordan.
And yes she looks awsome, she got all the professional help and care she needs and wants:cool:
And her kids are with the nannies I guess.

Her_Majesty 10-30-2006 02:03 PM

The StateBanquet will start at 20:30.
I hope for nice pictures of glittering tiaras and noble gowns!
Hopefully Queen Beatrix will pull out one of her huge tiaras (i get tired of the Small Floral Motive Tiara, even if it's one of my favourite tiaras  )

Empress 10-30-2006 02:08 PM

Now, I know that I know this somewhere in my head, and I know that it is posted somewhere, but due to a rather nasty cold, my brain has quit functioning.... aaahhhhcchhooo!

But, can anyone remind me why the visit was postponed twice. I think that I remember one was due to attacks in Jordan?

Bless you!And a speedy recovery!

Both postponements were due to trouble in the Middle East, the last,a year ago,was because of 3 gruelling bomb attacks at hotels in Amman.

queen rania's tiara is sooooo ugly. too big for her gaukiness. she needs something softer.

Empress 10-30-2006 03:18 PM

What is Laurentien wearing. The photo is not so great, so I can't see too well, but from a distance it looks like it is not that flattering!

And I am not at all sure about the black gloves that Queen Rania is wearing. They do not seem to go with the dress very well, and I am a great fan of gloves!

I also wish that she had worn her hair up. IMO Tiaras look so much better with an updo!

Buggs 10-30-2006 03:21 PM

I also think that Noor seems to show a little belly......

RachelD 10-30-2006 03:25 PM

I don't think Rania's tiara goes with the hairstyle she has.

Her_Majesty 10-30-2006 03:26 PM

Queen Beatrix wears the Drop Pearl Tiara and recycled the dress she allready wore for the StateVisit from Luxembourg. (I don't really like this dress:ermm: , but I love the tiara!)

Laurentien wears the Ears of the wreath Tiara, I think. I hope we will get another view of her dress!

I don't know exactly, but I think Margriet wears the Emerald parure (Maxima just wore it several weeks ago).

Ranja looks stunning! The Tiara and the dress are gorgeous!

I agree. In my opinion is too much going on with Rania, hair, gloves, tiara, the cut of the dress, but she looks so beautiful still!

I don't know exactly, but I think Margriet wears the Emerald parure (Maxima just wore it several weeks ago).

Ranja looks stunning! The Tiara and the dress are gorgeous!

I think Laurentien wears the Laurel-Wreath Tiara which she also wore on her Wedding-Day. The ears of Weath tiara worn all daughters-in-law of Princess margriet on her wedding day is not so full on the front.

Jewels are wonderful, but I don´t like Laurentien's dress and Rania's glowes.
I just love events like this

lil Monkey 10-30-2006 04:00 PM

the gloved dun go well at all with the dress, I wonder why she's wearing them, even though the Tiara is too big, but I love her hair it doesn't look that bad guys, and her make up is so nice too.

I have to agree. She should have worn her hair up like Princess Noor who looks very classy...and pregnant. it's strange that Jordanian Court didn't announce her pregnancy..

i think the sides of queen ranias tiara is arabic writting - calligraphically. from right to left.

You are right Stefan! It's the Laurel Wreath Tiara that Laurentien wears!

Fantastic view of the tiara!
But I don't know what to think about Laurentien's hair!:ermm:

Oh, Rania's dress was purple and her gloves brown? I thought they were all black! I guess it was the light in the picture that made it seem like her dress was black...

That's what it looks like...but not sure...It's a beautiful tiara, but I just don't like the way it looks with her hair. Maybe if the tiara were further back on her head....?:ermm:

Yes it is the basis of the Emerald Tiara with pearl Spikes.

I think it looks quiet good. With her very short hair you can not make to much and it would lokk strange if she put a tiara on her "normal" hairdo. And much better than Ranias Hair-Style.

Adamari 10-30-2006 04:15 PM

Designers?

I can't figure out who designed Rania's two day outfits and evening gown. I suspect the velvet navy blazer at the welcoming ceremony is by YSL, but I'm not sure. I've seen the grey blazer before but I don't know where, and the evening gown is familiar, too.

Does anyone else know?

As for the tiara, it looks like a piece of jewelry that can be worn both as a tiara and a necklace. In fact, when I first saw it, my impression was that it was actually a necklace that had been converted into a tiara.

Marengo 10-30-2006 05:44 PM

Well, finally a nice tiara and outfit for Laurentien! She looks nice, and I have never seen Louise's bandeau looking better.
Queen Beatrix looks nice to, very statuesque and majestic. I like her jewels, but I always prefer whopper-tiara's.
Margriet had to use the smaller drop pearls for the emerald tiara, which look much better on it. They should never use the big drop pearls (that Q Beatrix has on her tiara now) on this tiara again.

Queen Rania has had better days. Though she is a pretty woman, I do not like the combination of the l'oreal wave hair with a tiara. The dress must be very unpractical, it has the shape of a mermaid, which must be difficult with her foot problems. Still I like the way she stoically accompanies her husband on this visit.
King Abdallah seems radiant on all the pictures I saw & seems a very good natured man, almost fond to see Queen Beatrix (though it is easy to read to much into facial expressions on photos).
Princess Noor looks great IMO, she seems to glow and I like her discrete tiara.
Princess Rahma looks nice to, very nice embroidery/pattern on her dress.

barber 10-30-2006 05:51 PM

very nice pictures all of them Who is the couple on the right above ??? on the official picture ???

ap3 10-30-2006 05:54 PM

I usually love Rania's outfits, but this one has way too much going on, as a previous poster noted. It's like she put on all her favorite new things at once even though they don't really go together. Very strange, and not really flattering.

Have one of our Arabic posters figured out the calligraphy in her tiara says? I'm very curious. Is that a new tiara, or one that has been in the family?

Is there a better picture of Rahma (I think that's her; the one behind Abdullah?). Her dress looks really nice. I also like her hair pulled up and back, but then left to hang loose down her back. My favorite outfit tonight!

Laurentien's dress is very nice too. Though I think I would have liked a necklace to fill in that wide neckline. I know there isn't much she can do with hair that short, but it's pulled back so tight.

Love Margriet's black dress with the glorious pearls in contrast. She always dresses so well.

micas 10-30-2006 05:55 PM

The pics are wonderful. Is stunnig see Rania make esford to remain all the apoitmans. I just don't like very mucht the gala dress, the tiara and the hiar do. Something is beating bad...!

samitude 10-30-2006 05:58 PM

Princess Noor looks the best in my opinion. She looks absolutely beautiful and radiant!

ayvee 10-30-2006 06:05 PM

Hello, can someone identify the lady behind King Abdullah in the group photo? She looks like she is wearing the tiara Queen Rania wore during a state visit to England - where she wore a black lace top and black leather skirt. Can someone confirm if it is indeed Queen Rania's tiara. Not sure if my eyes are deceiving me. Thanks.

From www.koninklijkhuis.nl:

Speech by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands on the occasion of the state visit of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen of Jordan

The Hague, Noordeinde Palace, 30 October 2006

Your Majesty,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you and Queen Rania here this evening. Through you we salute a country with an ancient civilisation that is nevertheless characterised by modernisation and reform, a nation which plays an important, positive role in a Middle East that has for so long been torn by conflict and violence. Tragically, your country too experienced this violence at first hand last year, when brutal attacks took place in Amman. That event also had a profound impact in our country. We are therefore all the more delighted now to be able to greet you both in the Netherlands.

Your Majesty,
Jordan is the custodian of a rich historical heritage. The region known as the ‘Fertile Crescent’, to which your country belongs, was the birthplace of human civilisation. Over a period of many thousands of years, various cultures left their traces there, from Assyrians and Egyptians to Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and Arabs. Archaeologists explore the rich legacy of this past, while tourists come in great numbers to admire the unique city of Petra and other impressive historic sites in your country.
Scholarly interest in the Arab world has a long history in our country. Only a few years after the opening of Leiden University in 1575, a chair in Arabic and other Middle Eastern languages was established. That chair is still in existence and the study of the Arab world flourishes at our universities. As early as the seventeenth century, the Dutch painter Cornelis de Bruyn travelled to the Middle East and recorded its historic monuments with remarkable accuracy in his drawings. To this very day, Dutch artists draw inspiration from the age-old treasures of your country.

Founded on the ancient traditions and distinctive cultures of earlier empires, modern Jordan is a plural, tolerant and democratic country with a dynamic and highly educated population. Following in the footsteps of your greatly esteemed father, King Hussein, you yourself play a central role in the ongoing process of modernisation and adjustment in the political and economic domain. The challenges confronting Jordan, with its fast growing population, are considerable. You are faced with the difficult task of offering the many young people in your country the prospect of a meaningful future. The awareness that economic growth must go hand-in-hand with concern for the environment and for the preservation of your rich cultural and historical heritage makes this responsibility even more complex. The first steps have been taken in this direction with the policy of gradual reform set out in the National Agenda. The course on which your Government has thus embarked is fully supported by our country and the European Union.

In a turbulent part of the world your country has succeeded, both in the past and during recent developments, in maintaining good relations with its neighbours and has often played a pioneering role in this regard. Through the years, Jordan has dedicated itself to peace and stability in the region, and in 1994 concluded a peace agreement with Israel.
Jordan’s history is closely linked to that of the three great monotheistic religions. Against that background, your great personal dedication to encouraging dialogue between Islam and the West comes to the fore. In this endeavour, you are continuing the work of your father and of your uncle, Prince Hassan. In various speeches you have referred to the tolerant and benevolent aspects of Islam, even towards those who think differently, and to the importance of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. You emphasised that Islam is not a religion of violence and terrorism but one of moderation, forgiveness and mercy. These values and ideals also form the core of the ‘Amman message’, delivered in 2004, which rejected terrorism and stressed that peace must be the foundation for relations between Muslims themselves and with others.

Your Majesty,
The relations between our two countries are good – and have always been so. Our cooperation has been strengthened and intensified in recent years in both the political and social fields. Dutch people living in Jordan are active in many different areas, not only in trade and enterprise but also in the cultural field and in civil society organisations such as your deaf-blind institute. Jordanians, in turn, have invested in Dutch agriculture. Trade missions from each country have visited the other. While our countries mostly work together within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, our bilateral cooperation is certainly significant.

Your Majesty,
The excellent relations between our two countries are reflected in the warm ties between our two families. Many members of our families of different generations meet each other regularly. Your father paid an official visit to the Netherlands and ten years later my husband and I went to Jordan. Your State visit is in keeping with this tradition and we are delighted to welcome you.
May I invite all present to raise their glasses with me and to drink to your health, to that of Queen Rania, and to a bright – and peaceful – future for the Jordanian people.

Shadiyah2086 10-30-2006 06:18 PM

Queen Rania disappointed me this time around. In past state visits 99% of the time she looks stunning. But for this visit it looks like she didn't have time to do her hair and just plopped a tiara (a beautiful on I might add) on her head grabbed the nearest pair of gloves without looking at the colour. The dress is nice but she could have lost the gloves. She didn't even have to do a fancy up-do pulling her hair back into a nice simple french twist would have been nice. Having her hair down take away from the tiara. Princess Noor looks beautiful too.

linda85 10-30-2006 06:20 PM

Okay, I am confused. Is Prince Hazmah HM's brother? or half-brother?
His wife is Noor. Who is Princess Rahma and who is she accompanied by in the formal picture?

Thank you in advance,
Linda 85

Zonk 10-30-2006 06:21 PM

Prince Hazmah is HM half brother. His mother is Queen Noor but not related to Princess Noor :)

I think Princess Rahma is a cousin but I am not sure of the familial connection.

Prince Hamzah is King abdullah half-brother. He is Queen Noor's oldest son. Who Princess Rahma is accompanied by I don't know. and your welcome Linda 85

Zonk 10-30-2006 06:28 PM

The best dressed are Noor, Beatrix, Rahma and Margriet. I agree with the consensus on Rania's dress and the color of gloves...maybe its a new fashion look...who knows?! Noor looks radiant!

Laurentien...oh...what can I say. I like the dress...but I think that the top of it is too loud, big, etc. It over powers the rest of the dress. And its too bad that Beatrix and Laurentien couldn't trade tiaras. Laurentien looks too big for her hair and Beatrix's looks too small for hers!

AnaM 10-30-2006 06:30 PM

Princess Laurentien looks to be the best dressed woman tonight!

Princess Rahma is the eldest daughter of King Abdullah's uncle Prince Hassan (till 1999 the crown prince of Jordan). She is accompanied by her husband Alaa Batayneh.

Zonk 10-30-2006 06:33 PM

Thanks for the information Veram98. Interesting choice...who chooses who gets to go on State Visits? Does Princess Rahma live in the Netherlands?

Actually I think the laurel tiara and the pearl tiara are simular in size. The Queen just likes to hide her jewels in her coiffure.
