Floral and Wreath Tiaras

Does anybody have pics of tiaras with floral motif / or wreath tiaras?
Thanks in advance :flowers:

Hello mims111!

I was trying to find her not-so-pleasant-to-look-at Poppy Tiara (or it can be worn as a tiara)...

soCal girl 09-13-2006 06:57 PM

Queen Margrethe's poppies aren't so much a tiara as they are adorning headpieces. They aren't so pleasant to look at, are they? :whistling:

This is my favorite of all tiarias. It is delicate without being overly fragile. It is so versatile ...... I have yet to see it used in a way that didn't look wonderful. It moves from semi-formal to utmost regal. A fair stretch for any "small" tiara. It certainly leaves the traditional "small" tiara's received by the princesses of other royal houses for dead.
In fact it is to die for..... :in_love:

Now if she could just loose the oversized sash she wouldn't look like a child dressing up. The horrible thing swamps her, her dress and the jewels!

Btw. 1 this unknown tiara https://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n.../Jewels/pr.jpg
was known as Princess Mary's Diamond Honeysuckle Tiara. HRH Princess Mary, COuntess of Harewood recive this tiara made out of a diamond base mounted with five honeysuckle flowers. The tiara was sold after Mary's death.

Btw. 2 What about crowns with fleur-de-lis, isn't it a kind of flower?

A fleur-de-lis is a symbol used in heraldry, especially prominent with monarchy. It is representative of a lily. I recall seeing a picture of a circlet with only fleur-de-lis on it. Perhaps one of the more talented jewels members can point us in the right direction?

Hmmmm... IMO that emerald tiara could enter into serious competition with QMII's poppy thing or the Sweedish 'jeep' tiara (four button tiara) as the ugliest ever:sad:

HRH Mims 09-20-2006 09:34 AM

I like that tiara. Its something new and unusual, but in one way still classic, and you can't compare it with QMII poppy thing, I think. Because this reminds me Princess Mary's ruby parure (or how it's name?) but without rubies. And these tiaras belong to my most favorite one.
Maybe if she could wore it in other way, that would be better.

Madame Royale 09-20-2006 10:39 AM

I'm not much taken by it. To me, it seems vey...uninspiring.

Princess Mary's ruby tiara has mostly diamonds in it and some well placed rubies! With a majority of diamonds and just some emeralds Queen Ranias tiara would be very nice, but IMO it is just tooooo greeeenn!!! (Note: emeralds are usually my favourite gems, but this is too much for my taste).

jcbcode99 03-16-2009 05:53 PM

I believe Rania's tiara is set in black gold, and the emeralds are not offset by any other stone. The design itself is lovely, but it needs something to break up the green. I don't think she owns it anyway, I recall reading it was a loaner or something. I may be wrong--I'll check on it.

I think that it would work on an blonde, Princess Madeleine would look good in it i belive, but here it gets lost in the dark..

Lady Claire 03-16-2009 07:59 PM

I absolutly love the emerals tiara. It is different from other tiaras. It doesn't look too heavy like Marys ruby tiara. The emerald tiara is one of my favorites!

One of Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's tiaras. Sorry, I don't know the name.
PPE

Here is another Luxembourg tiara as sceen on Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. (one of my favorites)
Picture

The picture is from this thread, post 2.

jcbcode99 03-16-2009 11:02 PM

Madeline looks good in anything--take that cyclops aquamarine tiara, for example. She makes it work.

GD Maria Teresa is one of my particular favorites--she has this floral wrap type tiara/headpiece that she has worn as well and looked quite lovely. Although lately she is wearing dimunitive tiaras that just don't seem to suit her. I love the little turquoise tiara parue, but it's not working for her. She looks good with jewels that make a statement.

Lady Claire, thank you for digging that up. Isn't it lovely?

rubies 03-18-2009 11:33 AM

Maria Teresa has some wonderful jewels. She also wears them well IMO!! The Dutch have a wonderful wreath tiara that I would love to see on Maxima. Laurentien has worn it on several occasions. I don't know how to post pics (someone help me!!) The tiara is on the royaldutchjewels.nl web site!!!

I am sure that the emeralds are all lovely but you wouln't know it from looking at it. The green on green on green takes away all the definition. Changing the setting to silver or gold and adding in a significant quantity of diamonds would make the leaves have definition and maybe the diamonds as sparkling drops of dew,

Irisia 04-05-2009 05:17 AM

Queen Rania's tiara is pretty but yes i think its 'too green' as well. maybe a 20-ish princess would look great in it.

Josefine 09-09-2010 06:53 AM

would mette-marits wedding tiara count as a floral tiara?

LadyK 09-09-2010 08:01 PM

Well, it is supposed to be daisies, isn't it? So technically, I guess yes...

Personally I've never thought of it as a floral tiara in the same way as the Spanish floral tiara or Queen Ingrid's/Crown Princess Mary's ruby parure.

jcbcode99 09-09-2010 08:31 PM

I don't consider it a floral tiara--I think it falls more along the lines of a bandeau tiara.

I think the Strathmore tiara is pretty, I understand that it is not in very good shape and needs work to be done on it. I believe Warren posted info to this effect on another thread.

As mentioned on the blogpost (Order of Splendour), the Snowdon Floral "Tiara" is not really a tiara, but a collection of brooches assembled on a frame. The brooches were not part of the jewels sold by the Snowdon's in 2006, so one would assume they are in the family.

Or did she also wear it when she was the Queen Consort Elizabeth?

Does anyone have info on this lovely floral tiara? It was worn by princess Diana's niece Lady Emily McCorquodale at her wedding. I'm not sure if this belongs to the Spencer side or the McCorquodale side...I'm pretty sure Neil McCorquodale (Lady Sarah's husband) doesn't have any royal roots. But then again this has never been seen on a Spencer before. I'm stumped! Any info would be appreciated :)Attachment 293080

You don't have to be of royal decent to wear a tiara. Not that long ago most aristocratic ladies had at least one at her disposal.

And not just aristocratic ladies, but every lady who was just rich enough to afford that kind of jewels and moved in the upper social circles would have had a tiara. Some of these upper class families have kept their family tiaras and still use them. And the McCorquodales were moving in the upper class social circles and were well connected.

As you say the tiara Emily Mccorquodale wears was never seen on a Spencer lady. Furthermore, Alexandra Finlay, who married lady Cynthia Spencer's son Alexander Fellowes, did not wear a tiara at her wedding. That's why I believe that the tiara originates from the McCorquodale family.

Agree. McCorquodales were rich manufacturers. They owned printing factory. One of Emily's cousins (first cousin four times removed) was raised to the peerage as baron McCorquodale.
