I simply adore the beautiful jacket that the Grand Duchess is wearing. So exquisite! A very happy occasion for the family.

Queen Anne-Marie looks so beautiful! Seems to be a mixture from an inner and a physical beauty.
Iīm very disappointed that CP Mette-Marit didnīt come along. So itīs only half the fun for me.

Here is the reason Mette-Mairt is not in Luxembourg
Accoridng to Vg there had been to much travelling for the Crown Princess who still nurses and Sverre Magnus, after first flying to Thailand and then the Coronation journey, they stay in Trondheim and the trip to the mountains, the couple and their advisors thought it would be to much travelling for mother and child. The program in Luxembourg on Saturday was so tight it would be difficult to take nursing breaks
https://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=121684
Strange that they just thought about that one day before the celebrations, they must have known about this from the beginning...

i loved everything mt had on. she looked marvelous. however she looked a bit out of place b/c everyone else was in cocktail dresses. personally, i think she did it on purpose b/c of the fact that everything was in her honor and henri's. dunno. i must say i'm uber happy to see alex in some color. looks nice on her. i was begining to get concerned about felix, as we haven't seen him in ages; he seems to have put on a little weight, which looks nice on him, and guillaume does too, as he seems to have lost a little. i didn't like what silvia had on at all, as it reminded me of a swimsuit cover that i have, that pattern, yuck. all in all, mt did look the best.

Stephsisters Stacey and Nathalie (9 and 11 yo) were lost for over a week in Liege and found dead only 2 days ago, one of them was raped. The disappearance of the girls shocked the country and the court issued a statement that it deeply saddened the King and Queen (the King even had a talk to the mother of the girls before they were found). I believe one of them (or both) are burried today.

Anyway, there were a LOT of belles of the ball tonight IMO, but I just loved the Duchess of Braganca, she looked great! Sybilla and young Alexandra looked stunning as well, as did Queen Fabiola and the always radiant Grand Duchess.

About the absence of Albert and Paola: The preliminary guest list is known since more than two weeks and Albert and Paola never appeared on the list. I don’t think they are absent because of the death of the two girls. It’s their own wedding anniversary tomorrow – so maybe they have other plans instead.

Luxembourg. (EFE). - Luxembourg today inaugurates its new museum of contemporary art, a building of the famous architect Ieoh Chinese-American Ming Pei, with whom the city completes its preparation for the European capitalidad of the culture that will shine in 2007.
The Museum of Modern Art (MUDAM) has the form of an enormous end of arrow, in an attempt to contribute a present complement to the numerous and next fortifications of century XVII that border the old helmet of the city.
Ming Pei has in his salary several orders of great level in several museums of world-wide stature between which they emphasize the extension of the Louvre of Paris with his famous crystal pyramid and the wing This of the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
The building totalizes 9,000 square meters, of which 4,800 are open to exhibitions throughout three heights, and also has an audience.

Henri and Maria Teresa were married on February 14, 1981. The anniverary celebration was delayed until June to coincide with the opening of the new museum.

The Swedish King and Queen did not attend Henri & MT's wedding. They were represented by one of the King's sisters; I believe it was Princess Cristina. The only other major royals attending today that were at the wedding are Queen Fabiola and Princess Margriet of the Netherlands.

It's nice to know that the reason she stayed back is not that someone is sick or something. She has really had a hectic month with the Spanish state visit, the Thailand trip, and the Crowning journey, so it's probably nice for her to have a break and stay home for awhile.

We don't know the reason why Mette-Marit stayed behind. She could be sick or one of her kids could be sick.

Besides, nothing states that couples must go to every event together. I'm sure that Haakon would've liked to share these two days with his wife, but I'm sure that he is doing fine on his own, too.

There have been many occasions in the past where only one half of a couple, kings and queens and crown princes and crown princesses alike, goes to a formal event. For example, only Queen Sofia went to the Thailand celebrations and only Mary and Henrik went to the Swedish celebrations. Juan Carlos, Frederik and Margrethe had their reasons for staying behind then just as I'm sure Mette-Marit has a reason for staying behind now.

Princess Alexandra has such class and elegance and she's only 15! She looks beautiful in her pink-purpleish gown. I love how it's a classy dress that still looks her age because of the color. :)

I agree! She is a really beautiful girl. Someone to watch out for in the next few years.

Princess Alexandra is a stunning beauty. You would never say she's only 15.

I also think it's strange. The Saturday program is far from tight to allow nursing breaks.

But as Kwanfan said it's good to know that the "reason" isn't due to illness.

Elena looks gorgeous as usual. Good to see her and her husband stepping out, I like them both.

My favorite dress so far is Maria Teresa's. It is truly beautiful.

Infanta Elena and her husband. I Don't think Letizia or Felipe are coming.

Your are right, it's strange because I didn't see their name on the official guet list of the GD.

What does mean ? I have tosay that I'm a little bite anxious:o

Elena wear a beatiful dress of Oscar de la Renta, she is repeating with succes this beautiful dress.

Thank you for the pictures so far everyone!

It seems like we are getting lots of new gowns: Maria Teresa, Alexandra and Mathilde. Hopefully we'll see new gowns on the other royal ladies, too!

nagore 07-01-2006 07:39 PM

Are Felipe and Letizia in Luxemburgo? Is strange, the Dukes of Lugo are in Luxemburgo. Iīm thinking the princes arenīt and if this is true is strange because they havenīt been with the other royals in many acts.

Alisa 07-01-2006 07:40 PM

My first thought was Count Franz Clemens looked very handsome:)

Over all I think everyone looks great, especially Princess Claire and Princess Alexandra.

lis 07-01-2006 07:42 PM
